AMERICAblog: McCain and Palin made time for a "spritely discussion" with Bono

  • grandma · 1 year ago
"......and he should be injecting himself into our election."

    Think you meant 'shouldn't'...

And you are right....he shouldn't be.

Bono has as much business being President as either McCain OR Palin.

    More.

So McCain has time for Bono but not an American public trying to decide for whom to vote?
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
Did Bono have his tinfoil hat on?
  • Btalk314 · 1 year ago
McCain was upset that Cher didn't come to the meeting.

He has her album and plays it on his victrola.

    ...Backwards.

Isn't Bono cozy with the occupant of the White House, too?
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
Guys that get up at 6AM every morning and get to the worksite at 7AM are probably telling their wives to register to vote. Who would want an elitist like Obama running the country? It's hard enough to make a living as it is; much less paying some deadbeat's mortgage on a house he was never qualified to buy in the first place.
The backlash against congress is building up like a tsunami...
  • MrBlifil · 1 year ago
That's too rich. I'm not sure you're aware but your party and your candidate are imploding because they simply can't show their faces in public.

Keep the wingnut talking points coming, especially the attempt to run the "Uppity Defense." That should win you lots of friends and support.
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
I said "elitist"; you said, "uppity", dickwad. Are you trying to make this a "racist" campaign?
  • MrBlifil · 1 year ago
McCain's campaign surrogates in the South (and in the WH but without going on record) have used the term directly and repeatedly, and Bush tried to blame the mortgage crisis on "lower income" mortgage borrowers, by which he means "black folks."

I stand by my characterization. Republicans are the ones making this about race, you mouthbreathing troglodyte. See? If you're going to call names do it with some style.

Instead all we get from you are playground taunts. I'm assuming that's a strategy your mommy used to suggest you use when you couldn't handle the other kids playing with the sandbox toys.

Bono his hardly "injecting himself." He and his organization are at every major diplomatic junket there is. Palin and McCain are the ones injecting themselves into the foreign affairs arena. Besides Bono has a proven record of gaining support from those least disposed to be sympathetic to his goals. Remember his relationship with Jesse Helms, and Bush. He's a thorn in their side, but he is getting progress by gently applying steady pressure over the course of years.

Obama and Biden are of course sympathizers with Bono. He doesn't need to sit down with them because he would prefer to bother and hard sell his ideological opponents. For that he deserves our thanks and praise, not our criticism. What the hell?

Bono found out that Palin "put outs" behind Todds back so he hoping to "get some" if she's gets to the Oval Office.

    Dear American:

I need to ask you to support an urgent secret business relationship with a transfer of funds of great magnitude.

I am Ministry of the Treasury of the Republic of America. My country has had crisis that has caused the need for large transfer of funds of 800 billion dollars US. If you would assist me in this transfer, it would be most profitable to you.

I am working with Mr. Phil Gram, lobbyist for UBS, who will be my replacement as Ministry of the Treasury in January. As a Senator, you may know him as the leader of the American banking deregulation movement in the 1990s. This transactin is 100% safe.

This is a matter of great urgency. We need a blank check. We need the funds as quickly as possible. We cannot directly transfer these funds in the names of our close friends because we are constantly under surveillance. My family lawyer advised me that I should look for a reliable and trustworthy person who will act as a next of kin so the funds can be transferred.

Please reply with all of your bank account, IRA and college fund account numbers and those of your children and grandchildren to wallstreetbailout@treasury.gov so that we may transfer your commission for this transaction. After I receive that information, I will respond with detailed information about safeguards that will be used to protect the funds.

Yours Faithfully Minister of Treasury Paulson

    Hi Everyone,
    > PBS is doing one of those instant online polls to ask " America " if they
    > think Sarah Palin is fit to be Vice President.
    > The GOP has launched a successful all out blitz to get Republicans to go on
    > the site and click "Yes". As a result right now it looks like 62% of
    > " America " thinks Palin is qualified. The Republicans are going to be milking
    > this for all its worth in their press efforts.
    > We need to drive more Democrats and those opposed to Palin to the site to
    > click "NO". Let's not give the GOP another easy weapon to put in their PR
    > arsenal!
    > Here's the link: http://www.pbs.org/now/polls/poll-435.html
    > You don't have to enter your email addres or anything, just click "NO".

Sheesh! This is the 10th time, at least, I have read here about this f'ked up PBS poll. With the Republican mega-votes, isn't it now meaningless?
  • Steve_in_CNJ · 1 year ago
PBS will have to learn its lesson about online polling.

South Park did an interesting takeoff on Bono a while back. Some of you might remember him presented as a turd. It was comical but not tasteful. Well . . . South Park.

As for Lady de Rothschild, isn't she a US citizen who married up, as Jane Austin would say? And aren't US citizens not allowed by law to have foreign titles? That makes her Mrs. Rothschild, doesn't it?

[Princess Grace and Queen Nour are exceptions but I don't think either one of them actually pushed the envelope on the titles.] Mrs Rothschild, on the other hand, seems to think she's the Activites Director and Doyenne of Good Taste on the Titanic.

Silly Mrs Rothschild, go back to the vineyards. The grapes need stomping.

Bono does know that his CDs don't really sell very well anymore, doesn't he?
  • MC_Haiku · 1 year ago
Bono would not exist if John Lennon were alive. John would have smacked that loathsome hustler in the press so many times, he would have never gained an ounce of credibility.
I invite you all to take a look at my take on Bongo here:
    http://www.sunpopblue.com/Writings-and-Art/bono...
as always, probably not politically correct in one way or another.

I like Bono! Lets not get sidetracked here, this isn't about Bono or Lady "Macbeth" Rothschild....it's about John McCain and his disgraceful attempt to regain momentum for his truly sad flailing pathetic campaign!! I say McCain/Palin is done....put a fork in it!!!!

She is not a royal highness. For heaven's sakes, it's just making you look pissy. Her husband is a knight. That makes her Lynn, Lady de Rothschild. She isn't even Lady Lynn, which would indicate she had been born to a title. Isn't it enough that she has a title at all and is a member of the international banking family Rothschild, to indicate the absurdity of her elitist comment? Exaggeration for satiric effect loses its effectiveness when it gets repeated too often.
