AMERICAblog: McCain campaign attacks John Kerry's war record, says Swift Boat Veterans for Truth were simply telling the truth

  • Liza · 1 year ago
    John,

Ben Smith asked the question so not everyone is so bad.
  • ron071 · 1 year ago
Sooner or later the full and real record of John McSame will be revealed and will shock many of the flag lapel patriots. His record in captivity is another area which must be revealed. He should assist in doing this if he is the patriot he advertises himself to be. Even the N Vietnamese were offering and giving him special treatment. He is another of the silver spoon crowd as is his wonderful model-Bush.
  • SouthernYankee · 1 year ago
Lets hope it will be before and not after the election.
  • Aanya · 1 year ago
If John McCain's record is off record, lets get it "on" the record! Lately we've been doing a pretty damn good job of doing just that! Keep it up!
  • ron071 · 1 year ago
Too much about McCain is not known. Why the secrecy? He's surely hiding something. His wife's financial statement ( tax ) is another of the hidden McCain details. What is known however is that McCain crashed four planes BEFORE he was shot down and these were not in action but practice. The US Navy would have never allowed any flyer to fly again after such a record. It seems that his family creds carried him through. Echoes of Bush.
  • SouthernYankee · 1 year ago
Well we need to ask the media why they don't go after McCain. McCain and Chris Matthews love each other. I heard Matthews once say that the media was his base. Now we know.
  • Nigel Elliott · 1 year ago
John Kerry should demand John McCain release his military records and let Americans hear his propaganda tapes made to help the enemy.

Heroes don't do propaganda; traitors do!
  • ron071 · 1 year ago
Gen. Clark gave his opinion regarding the quality of the McCain military experience and he stated the facts upon which his opinion was based. Me thinks the McCain camp doth protest too much. Why has Mc Cain not released his military records as did John Kerry? Why has McCain not released his full medical records as do all the other candidates past and present? Hidden facts are damning!
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
Yep, put it on the record. McCain is slip-sliding away into the presidency. Obama needs to start asking questions about his opponent and stop depending on surrogates.

These Vietnam vets are dedicated to getting out the truth about McCain collaboration with the enemy.

Anyone involved in starting a war with Iran is a war criminal.
  • SouthernYankee · 1 year ago
You are on target. If he goes to Iran than they should impeach the president.

Too late; special ops already there. See my comments above.

This is all about GOP desperados...they've got Grandpa Munster up against JFK and they are shitting their boxers. They ain't got a fuckin thing this time around and so, because it works so well, they are going to attack Kerry, Gore, Clinton, Carter, LBJ, Truman, FDR, Ann Richards, et alia going back to the year 1776. Desperate times call for desperate measures. And so it's time to do whatever they can to shit on Dems. But the truly sad part of this is that Idiot America laps this shit right up. I wonder when the N word is going to start up with this crowd.
  • SouthernYankee · 1 year ago
It has already has. In WV and KY they showed people saying they won't vote for a black man.
  • FunMe · 1 year ago
I don't think John McCrazyCain was help captive. I think John McCrazyCain went to Canada and was partying up a storm.

How do we know he was really captured by the enemy?

He needs to prove it - with videos. Heck yeah. What about that video he made for the enemy. That would be a hoot!

So unless I see a video of McCrazyCain - it's all LIES.
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
BQID, you're the only one using the "N" word now. Twice in the last 2 days. Maybe YOU have the prob?

  • Busboy · 1 year ago
Hey, BB, McCain's a steaming pile. All realists and conservatives know that. Obama is much the same.
  • Rab · 1 year ago
I read some articles on Bud Day using his medal of honor as a political tool. I'd spit in this dickheads face, absolutely disgusting behavior and equally disgusting by McGramps.
  • warsaw · 1 year ago
At long fucking last, can we please have an election that does not fight the Viet Nam war? This has been going on for 40 yea rs. Anyone could see this coming. McC knows nothing about this war, this 21st century war, this misbegotten conflagration in which our 20 year olds are being dismembered and brain damaged, and so he starts an argument to restart the only war he participated in losing. He's got nothing, nothing new. Obama is right to try to call them on commiting the patriotism blood slander which the great-grandpops still in office in Republican Washington love to traffic in. This is Cheney's metier, his obsession, his five deferment weak spot that won't go away and cannot be killed. The senior citizens think this is a hot issue but it's going to open a lot of doors which might reveal McC to be a W style fuck-up.
  • SouthernYankee · 1 year ago
Your right. As a senior citizen my generation still is upset about the VN war. I had friends that died. I think of all those men that died that will never be married and have children see their families. So try to understand a little bit.
  • OlderAndWiser · 1 year ago
Firebrand, well, according to Seymour Hersh, you can add Pelosi, Reid, Hoyer and Rockefeller and 4 Rethugs (Gang of Eight) to that crowd. They gave Bush $400 mil for covert operations in Iran...

Please, people, read his piece in the New Yorker
    http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2008/07/07/0...

and his NPR interview on Terri Gross's show today.
    http://www.npr.org/templates/rundowns/rundown.p...

As Hersh says, listen to what Cheney says...pay attention.
  • Coming Undone · 1 year ago
If McCain is a war hero and he is ready to be the CIC then why was he beaten in 2000 by a man could not even show up for National Guard duty?
  • OlderAndWiser · 1 year ago
I'm convinced that the last 50 years of politicking have been nothing but a Kabuki dance...I mean, who's getting screwed but us?

We have no Constitution left, no press, nothing that would make one think that the US is a democratic republic. It's all some kind of bizarre nightmare anymore. The govt, including Rethugs and Dems, is nothing but a secretive coven with no participation by its citizens except on voting day, which is a farce. You simply get to choose your masters.
  • SouthernYankee · 1 year ago
Because only in the world of republicans do they drink the cool aid and think that being in the national guard at that time during the VN war makes a Bushie a hero. Yep only a republican would say that Kerry wasn't a hero. Trust me I used to type up the awards for medals. They don't hand them out to just anyone. Kerry earned his ribbons and medals.
  • Indigo · 1 year ago
Friends don't let friends vote for Republicans.
  • jjakehicks · 1 year ago
I wonder if you have ever served in a "combat arms" branch of the military? I wholehearted believe the swiftboaters, I have been shot at in anger a few times and knew a few officers like Kerry. One guy got a purple heart for getting egg shell fragments in his eye...the award read simply "shell fragments in eye", wonder how he would have told that story if he had run for president. Kerry was (and is) such a blatent opurtunist. When is was "cool" to run the troops down, he did...when it was time to get serious about politics, he found the first widow senator's wife he could find, ran to boston and started claiming some sort of heritage to JFK.

John McCain is the greatest war hero this country has seen since Audie Murphy (though I doubt you know who that is), the man VOLUNTEERED to be tortured for 5 and half years to keep the enemy from having a propaganda tool (basically what hanoi jane flew across the world to willingly give the communists).

I dont have a real beef with Obama, other than that he has never served a cause greater than himself. He has never held a job that he believed was bigger than he was and he seems to have gut need to neuter our military.
  • Ben Dover · 1 year ago
    Since Audi Murphy!?!?

    LMAO!

We simply have got to get better trolls in the future.
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
the man VOLUNTEERED to be tortured for 5 and half years to keep the enemy from having a propaganda tool
    ---

which he finally broke down and did anyway... and he's still pissed at those guys that worked out a deal to get out of the camp.

maybe because he was too fricking stupid to go along with a deal... and spent 5 years when he could've walked out earlier.

as it was, it was a very unpopular war in the USA... and he's still pissed at the public for their views of it.

I think he's looking forward to being elected president solely to enact his pent up fury on the American public... via Iraq, Iran, Lebanon, Syria etc...

he won't stop, its all about john mccain. whatever pisses him off has to be delt with... and the American people really pissed him off when he was stuck in a cell for five years.

this campaign is for his payback.

he scares the piss out of me... as do you as you've obviously not been paying attention for the last eight years.

chimpy was an idiot... john mccain will make him look benign by comparison.
  • jjakehicks · 1 year ago
HOW "POPULAR" A WAR IS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH A SOLDIER'S HONOR OR MOTIVATIONS!!!!!!  You resist untill, you cant!  Everyone breaks eventually, but you dont roll over for the enemy.  I would like to see anyone casting judgements on Mac for a B.S. warcrimes letter, I would like to see how long they last, or if they would even have the intestinal fortatude to make the effort!
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
I would like to see anyone casting judgements on Mac for a B.S. warcrimes letter

    ---

and yet, he passed judgements on his fellow soldiers for doing exactly the same thing he eventually gave in to.

so, I guess the guys who had a lower breaking point were just 'pussies' then? didn't make mccain's standards??

you've completely missed the point. he saw his fellow soldiers as traitors because they did the same thing he eventually did himself... but we're not allowed to pin it on him.

    gotta love double standards eh?

not to mention, if he values good soldiers so much... what's up with supporting people attacking Kerry's record? the man isn't even running!!!!

and the swiftboat assholes were all disproven by PEOPLE WHO WERE REALLY THERE!!!

    .
  • jjakehicks · 1 year ago
Dude, I dont know how to explain it to you in a way that you will understand.  The 2 soldiers that you are talking about, didnt just cave in...they turned whole clothe, they lived better in the prison then the other inmates, and reported on the other inmates when people like Mac or Col. Day would try and communicate with each other.  Yes, McCain signed a warcrimes statement, but he never took parole (in military terms it means to recieve priviledges for abading the enemy).  You torture anyone long enough and they will sign what ever you want them too, however, you dont turn against your own.  Those guys got charges brought against them at the end of the war...that doesnt happen for just giving in to torture.  They were traitors and pussies.  They lived well in confinement, as a former soldier, who served in 2 combat zones, that makes my hair stand on end.  You fight the bastards with everything you got, you dont roll over to make life easier.
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
You fight the bastards with everything you got, you dont roll over to make life easier.
    ---

for five years... convincing himself that the American public who were against the war were traitors... being beaten on a regular basis...

if anything? that scares me. that's a HELL of a lot of pent up anger that has to be released somehow.

we've heard about his temper, its actually pretty famous on the hill...

we also know from his voting record that he holds a grudge, and takes it out on people when he can... maverick? fuck no, he knows EXACTLY what he's doing... and his flip-flops on supporting bills, then dropping his support because he's through beating up on his own party are ALSO in his voting record. he'd tell the American public to go fuck themselves if he didn't need votes in order to become dictator.

    he's not a maverick, he's borderline insane!

and you want him to be president??
  • warsaw · 1 year ago
jjakehicks, you do McC no favors by over praising him. He was not tortured, and he refused to be released only because he knew it would be an enormous embarrassment to his father and a huge political scandal. Audie Murphy was a combat soldier, not a pilot who was taken prisoner. Murphy was on the ground and exhibited his bravery ove rand over. Murphy was a young enlisted kid not a pampered military baby promoted far beyond his intellectual and physical capabilities. McC cannot in any way be considered in the same league as the amazing and tragic Audie Murphy. Please get hold of your emotions and stop making absurd comments. Your last paragraph reads like it was written by a grammar schooler.

Maybe jjakehicks is right. Maybe Obama has never served for anyone other than himself. Maybe he could be a bigger self-aggrandizer than Bill Clinton. Food for thought.
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
look at mccain's voting record and ask the same question about him.

    mccain is for mccain... ONLY.
  • mf_roe · 1 year ago
McCain is a Traitor, he lasted all of FIVE days before he cooperated with the Vietnamese. FIVE Days in his own words, look up his 1973 Extended interview in US News & World Report. and his buddy Bud Day's Congressional Medal of Honor stinks of PAYOFF, look up what it was awarded far, then consider he was McShame's cell mate and has knowledge of what they both did to survive. McShame's Admiral father bought off the criticism of his son's actions. McShame slammed the door on the POW / MIA families while he was supposed to be helping them THAT MAKES HIM A TRAITOR. And if you have a problem, I have six years in the USN 1969-1975,
  • rq704c · 1 year ago
How many days of torture did you endure? Talks cheap when your sitting on a boat in the middle of the ocean - last time I checked the Vietnamese didn't swim too well. It's understandable that you have an issue with his decision to ammend the MSPA Act, but that fact that McCain was a POW, and you (WERE NOT?), probably makes him a bit more of an authority on what was needed in the document. I'm not saying he's right, but the bottom line is that anyone that serves in the military deserves respect, and calling him a traitor MAKES YOU LOOK LIKE AN IDIOT especially when compared to Obama or anyone else in this country that hasn't sacrificed a damn thing for anyone but themselves.
