AMERICAblog: McCain campaign: Palin won't do any interviews, she's just going to read speeches from on

  • Joneses · 1 year ago
LOL, that's means she can't handled the truth!
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
Ever read "The Selling of the President" ?

It's about the Nixon '68 campaign (as an interesting aside, a young Roger Ailes shows up for a few pages).

Anyway, they used to have trouble with Agnew showing his ignorance to reporters, so they eventually kept him away from all interviews.

The called it playing "Hide the Greek."
  • tjlabs · 1 year ago
Those wonderful mainstream media types who bought you the Reverend Jeremiah Wright 24/7 have been properly chastised and disciplined by their Republican masters nad have returnd to the true path. Read more. http://www.tagg-lines.com/2008/09/playing-refs-...
  • grandma · 1 year ago
    Huh?...won't do any interviews??

    That's like admitting she's incompetent..

I hope the Dems play this up big time.
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
we need a youtube debate with the VPs... NO QUESTIONS GIVEN TO THE CANDIDATES BEFOREHAND.

we need a live debate with questions from actual people.

of course, that'll never happen... we're just supposed to take mcsame's word for it, she's qualified.

ya know... Terri Schiavo smiled when lights were pointed at her, I wonder how good a VP pick she'd have been?
  • moreleesafer · 1 year ago
ok that was low. but funny as hell.
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
As I've said before, Schiavo could at least "laugh" naturally and "follow a balloon bouncing around her bed." Could the same be said of McCain?
  • Wisconsin Liberal · 1 year ago
Palin is the next best thing.
  • rexkc · 1 year ago
Makes you wonder how they would do one one one with Vladimir Putin if she won't go one on one with Barbara Walters or Larry King.
  • gwpriester · 1 year ago
We need to demand that McCain have a test for senile dementia and that he make the results public.
  • Steve_in_CNJ · 1 year ago
a way to hang on to your convention bump. but it seems desperate. there IS a significant bump, according to one poll just released:

    http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/09/04/opini...

not clear if this is believable or how it affects the electoral college margin.
  • hopelesspedant · 1 year ago
All it shows is movement from Obama to undecided.

Get back to me when any poll shows McCain in the upper 40s.

He so far can't seem to do that,
  • Steve_in_CNJ · 1 year ago
i just looked a little closer at the CBS poll. the proportion of republican respondents increased by 5% to 31% since their last poll. i assume they correct for fluctuations in the D-R ratio, but it adds some uncertainty.
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
Senator Biden has a record of accomplishment going back more than 35 years. Governor Palin has a speech she gave in 2008.
  • rexkc · 1 year ago
Well, she is Commander in Chief of the Alaska National Guard.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
And she ran a small town $20 million into debt and turned it into the "meth capital of Alaska."

  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
I think they gave her a pin for that.
  • houstonray · 1 year ago
Nice touch! I remember that statement well...nice to twist it around...good call!!
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
Now I want to hear Hillary say it. 1000 times before November 4th.
  • SouthernYankee · 1 year ago
    Hey good one.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
Thing is: McCain isn't doing interviews either.

Best course might be for Obama and Biden to just snarf up all the free media.
  • lilybart · 1 year ago
Exactly! How easy will this be to make Americans wonder what the heck is going on if neither of them talk to the press, ever?

Free media and BBQs for all.
    And don't forget the donuts.
  • blackwolf · 1 year ago
Exactly bushbites! Obama and Biden should have a field day and pump their message to the people through a hungry MSM.
  • hopelesspedant · 1 year ago
One risk here (big time) - her first live exposure to tough questions will be the debate.

Not sure how they squirm out of that commitment.
  • howie · 1 year ago
her daughter will 'miscarry' and mommy will have to be with her to help her through her trying times.
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
forehand knowledge of the questions to be asked... same as they've done for chimpy.

either that, or watch for the tell-tale earpiece and the lump on their backs... just like chimpy.
  • lilybart · 1 year ago
Do they really think this will work? No one will notice and wonder? The press won't turn on them utterly?

So many ideas: Palin dolls where you pull a string and she gives canned answers, and birth?
  • Steve_in_CNJ · 1 year ago
OT: Abramoff got 4 years. This might keep McCain's history of influence peddling (and that of his advisors) in the news.

The IceQueen will NOT be accepting audience with the peasants.
  • ShirleyGoodnessanMercy · 1 year ago
    Silly Sarah can't do interviews.

John McCain is too weak to pick the running mate he wanted.

And both of them are petrified of a photo op at Habitat for Humanity because (a) someone might ask McCain how many houses he owns and (b) Palin might be asked what she thinks of the COMMUNITY ORGANIZERS at Habitat for Humanity, one of the most godly and glorious organizations on earth. She MOCKED Habitat for Humanity. Stupid book-banning cretin. What next? She comes out for book burnings at the Library of Congress?
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
Okay, Americans need to ask themselves "Do I want my leaders to listen to my concerns OR do I want my leaders to TELL what they think I need to know."

If Americans answer yes to the second part of that question then they better understand they have just picked a dictatorship.
  • dacnova · 1 year ago
Don't forget her time on the PTA
  • EdgewaterJoe · 1 year ago
It now looks like the McCain campaign is going well beyond blaming the media -- they're flat-out baiting the media to dig deeper into Palin.

They REALLY want her to be a martyr for St. BBQ, don't they?
  • Ross_Smith · 1 year ago
    Bad headline. Great blog.

Loyal reader that I am, I do not appreciate, nor see the need for, hyperbolic posts. The McCain campaign never said Palin will do no interviews, etc.

Yes, they are slow to release her to the wolves. Yes, they deserve criticism.

But there is no need to reduce our own credibility with misleading (we call it lying when it's from the other side) headlines.
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
John A reads between the lines sometimes. Usually he's pretty good at it; sometimes makes the opposition change course. We used to call guys like that: "operators"...
  • John Aravosis · 1 year ago
Busboy, you're defending me again. You know how it creeps me out when you do that :-) I much prefer it when everyone thinks you're evil and should be banned. It's just more black and white that way.
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
I wish Rush had never assigned me to this blog......
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
We need somebody around here to clear the plates and fill up our water glasses. And Busboy IS improving; he used to spill ice and water all over the table. Now, he's working on not pulling our plates away while we're still eating, which is so rude.
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
semantics really... rovian handlers have removed the microphone from in front of mcsame already, they can't control what he's going to say... or how he's going to come across.

considering they're making this a campaign based on mcsame's "experience", they won't let him be interviewed by anyone who throws anything but softballs.

you really think PALIN is going to be interviewed??

    pah-leeze.
  • SouthernYankee · 1 year ago
your right. But hell its fun
  • grandma · 1 year ago
    Bull

As you know, despite earlier promises to the contrary, Sarah Palin is now refusing to cooperate with the trooper-gate investigation. Her lawyer now says she will refuse to be deposed unless the head of the current investigation relinquishes control and hands the investigation over to the state Personnel Board made up of three of Gov. Palin's appointees. We've been trying to see whether Palin's argument has any merit under Alaska law. And the former Alaska Attorney General we just spoke to told us, in essence, that it's a bunch of bunk.

Not surprising, since the whole gambit is an effort to push any depositions out past the election.

UPDATE: The troopers union is filing a complaint against the good Governor. As Bette would say Buckle your belts boys its going to be a bumpy ride.
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
Speaking of debates here is the line up. ABC got left out---I wonder why? (snark)

  • patrick2012 · 1 year ago
Read the latest on her speech at ABC - IT WAS ALL LIES AND MORE LIES. These creepy Republican Christians can't tell the truth if their hateful God was sitting on their laps. HYPOCRITES. Cant wait for Biden to make mincemeat out of the Bimbo. I can already see her having bake sales on the front lawn of the White House to raise money to bomb Iran.

    Pinnochio Palin
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
Two fun facts, thanks to doing the google: Rush, who isn't sexist at all, referred to Wallace as "the cutest little thing" on his show. She is notorious for declaring on the eve of the 2006 midterms that the American people wouldn't want a Democrat Congress.
  • Indigo · 1 year ago
No questions? Well, of course not. She already gave her speech. Now for the talent section of the show (will she sing or will she dance?) and, of course, the bathing suit event follows shortly thereafter.

How do losers like her get elected to high offices? Never ceases to amaze me.
  • SouthernYankee · 1 year ago
Well I hear the Enquirer was going to vet her. There was a little tidbet about here having an affair with her husband's business partner. Ouch. There was something I saw on the democraticunderground.com blog this morning of a young black man stating that he was the baby daddy of Bristol. I don't know if that is true. But if it is boy I can see the republicans now. They won't know what to say. I bet she will drop out. They just won't be able to handle a interracial baby. It was bad enough that they had to chock on their spit to except a unwed 17 yr old.
  • ndtovent · 1 year ago
The baby won't be born until after the election, so it wouldn't be seen beforehand. I hope she *is* vettted to the nth degree, and also hope she stays in there. She'll either win more votes for obama or provide more reason for the repug voters to sit this one out.

  • Wesinoregon · 1 year ago
Would they at least bring her out to sing "Tomorrow Belongs to Me"?
  • Kap10Kos · 1 year ago
Is she going to borrow Dubya's earpiece for debates with Biden?
  • xargaw · 1 year ago
I think this will backfire. The media has flooded Alaska. They will dig for the biggest scoop and it is just a matter of time no matter how many road blocks McCain throws up. They smell blood. The press also will not like the Palin stonewall. The press will turn on them, finally. This is about the survival of democracy. She will be weaker in the debate as well as she will get NO seasoning from the trail.
  • SouthernYankee · 1 year ago
Hell the National Enquirer will vet her big time. They don't worry about the mainstream media. Enquirer minds really want to know,
  • TxDeb · 1 year ago
For them to be hiding her, she must actually be dumb as a rock and not have been able to learn anything in a week's time.
  • Bob1051 · 1 year ago
Folks, the media will--is already doing this, in fact--fall all over itself trying to get back on the McCain campaign's good side. McCain has learned this from the right wing of his own party--the more you attack the media, the more the media will roll over and flip its behind in the air to try to placate you. Then, of course, the more shamelessly the media strokes you to keep its access and barbecue passes, the more shamelessly you criticize the media. It's worked for them for years, and it's working now. Witness the hullabaloo over Palin's workmanlike rendering of a teleprompted string of sneering, sarcastic one-liners and cheesily transparent tear-jerkers--I've seen much better performances from high-school kids, but you'd think Tom Brokaw had seen God, Martin Luther King, and Abe Lincoln all rolled into one, with lipstick.
  • matlockteacher · 1 year ago
McCain is trying to grab the matel of "Change" from Obama. I see a very distrubing motive
behing this , besides the obvious one. By saying you are going to get CHANGE with McCain,
they are coding to working class voters who are fed up with Republican rule that they can
get CHANGE without having to vote for a black person, by voting for the new and revised John
McCain. How low can you go???
