Why does McCain HATE Habitat for Humanity?! Let me count the ways: Carter associations; communitarian enterprise; grass-roots counterculture effort flying in the face of corporate builders like Hovanian; good will effort on behalf of poor black people; houses constructed by bleeding heart liberals and college students on Spring Break who should be beer-bongeen and makeen babies instead at Daytona Beach; equated with the efforts of community organizers like Obama. Habitat for Humanity is A GODLESS, COMMUNIST thing that undermines the On Your Ownership Society. President Palin will issue an executive order from her Oval Office banning the organization and marshalling the National Guard for the forced displacement of all HH residents, and burning to the ground of all HH houses.

    He's canceled a lot lately.

I am organizing my friends to gather housekeys and mail to McCain to make sure with his senile ways that he hasn't lost all his keys to all those McMansions. Its a great way to protest his lies about Obama being elite while doing something that might garner a little more national attention on all his houses. If you have a few oddball extra keys laying around why not send them to him with a lovely note. His address is posted here:

Well, I didn't care for her nasty comments on community organizers. She obviously hasn't seen or has no interest in seeing the work that selfless community volunteers have given for her and ALL Americans during her lifetime.

    What a hateful fraud.
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
She's of the same philosophy subscribed to by Margaret Thatcher, who said, with a straight face, there is no such thing as "society." Ayn Rand and her ilk have a lot to answer for...

yet... for some reason they're not racist... odd.

    how about this one?

"At an April 12 event in his district, Kentucky Rep. Geoff Davis (R) said of Obama: “I’m going to tell you something: That boy’s finger does not need to be on the button. He could not make a decision in that simulation that related to a nuclear threat to this country.”"

    umm... "that boy."

everyone remember how the MSM was ALL over geoff davis for that remark?

    everyone? anyone? hello?? no??

nope not a bit of racism there... but Obama is sexist... yup.

Great night for a speech huh? Wonder if he'll mention the economy???

Stocks plummet after retail, unemployment data

By MADLEN READ, AP Business Writer 11 minutes ago

Wall Street has ended a dismal day with a huge decline. The Dow Jones industrials are down nearly 350 points after retailers and the Labor Department added to investors' mounting economic worries and prompted a wave of selling.

Retailers say shoppers curtailed spending last month due to higher gas and food prices. Meanwhile, the Labor Department says new applications for unemployment insurance last week rose by 15,000 from the previous week.

The troubling news arrived ahead of Friday's August jobs report from the Labor Department.

At the close of trading, the Dow is down about 345 points at the 11,187 level, according to preliminary calculations.

I thought it was incredibly stupid of Palin to dis community organizers - specifically Obama, who worked with underprivileged black residents in Chicago. It just made her look snooty, smarmy, out of touch ...elitist, really. Not that her target market will pick up on that, but when I heard it, it was a ohnoyoudidn't moment.
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
    very stupid and bigoted.

i do believe that was GOPer dog whistle for all the conventioneers who hear "community organizers" and think "scary black militant mooslims"...
  • curlytoes79 · 1 year ago
I suppose so. To me, it just sounded like she was disrespecting people who take a low-paying, non-profit type of job because they want to make a difference at the community level. Unless you're CEO of a company or an important political figure, you don't have any real responsibilities and you're a pathetic peon.

    Obama - community organizer
William Ayres - community organizer and terrorist
    Therefore Obama terrorist
    That is what they meant
  • lynchie · 1 year ago
Only to those of us on the left. The haves and have mores thought---fuck the poor can always get 3 minimum wage jobs if they need something. By the way working at 3 minimum wage jobs at $7.00 an hour works out to $42,000 a year which is great if you don't plan on living a life.
  • canuck55 · 1 year ago
Jimmy Carter - he's a community organizer working for Habitat. Perhaps he should get out there and talk a bit about how sleazy it is to insult community organizers.
  • houstonray · 1 year ago
Oooh! Good one there!!! He's been awfully quiet, that would be an excellent point!
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
yup... Jimmy's also very religious so... he'd be a good one to respond.

although, he did 'lust in his heart' (the HORROR!!!).

maybe he could teach Bristol how to do that?
  • houstonray · 1 year ago
I'm sure Bristol and Levi lusted in their hearts...first...and then got naked and started fornicating...
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
    well... DUH!

SHE READ A SPEECH SOMEONE ELSE WROTE FOR HER AND DID A PISS POOR JOB AT. THAT IS ALL SHE DID
  • Indigo · 1 year ago
She isn't out of touch. She's malicious. She isn't stupid. She's prejudiced. That's what the public wants and you watch . . . tiptoeing around like well-behaved subjects, the DNC and their pasha, Howard Dean, are behaving ever so nicely, throwing yet another election to the Republicans. It isn't Palin who's stupid, it's the Democrats who continue to enable the DNC. Take ahold now, tomorrow is too late. Fight back!
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
Right on: the Dems pushback today on Palin's "triumphant" debut on the national stage has been unfocused, way too "nice" and complementary, and diffident. The MSM and the right-wing noise machine have already, in one news cycle, made Palin's speech and the "optics" attain legendary status. And then we get Biden chortling ineffectually this morning, Gibbs failing to rebut crisply and pointedly on the specifics of the speech, Hillary silent, and surrogates like Sebelius, who are good, left as outliers fighting for attention.
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
and here I thought herpes was the gift that keeps on giving...

thank you mccain/palin! keep up the good work so Obama doesn't have to lift a finger in defense.

Georgia Rep Lynn Westmorland (R) called Obama "uppity" in an interview in the Hill:
    http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/westmorelan...
and he was asked if he really meant to say it and he said yes.
How's about you Westmorland, are "Klanish"?
How is this asshole doing in the polls?
  • moreleesafer · 1 year ago
told ya'll that elitist and arrogant and presumptuous were all just code words for "uppity"
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
guess westmorland didn't get that memo...

"we will no longer be using the word 'uppity' when describing negros, henceforth the operative word will be 'elitist'. Negros themselves will be referred to as African Americans. The word 'boy' will no longer be used in place of the person's name. For some reason those people seem to find them offensive. The 'n' word is still out as well, unless used among other GOP members or in the context of a joke (also while among people like us)." Super-Super-Secret GOP memo 6/2/2008
  • houstonray · 1 year ago
You know, something I haven't thought of until now, she was dissing Community Organizers and such, didn't Dumbya's father have his Thousand Points of Light thing? Wasn't THAT about people who did Community Service and Organizing?
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
Yeah, but GHWB never really meant that crap--that was a cyncial attempt at peeling off Dem voters. And if he really meant it, we all know now GHWB was a big bleeding-heart wuss who wouldn't "take out" Saddam when he had the chance!
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
    two words... compassionate conservative.
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
The Obama campaign could and should turn, into a 30-second spot ad, the sound bite of McCain saying people should take a second job and skip the vacation to make their increased mortgage payments. Why WON'T the Dems DESTROY this despicable old man?!
  • saber69 · 1 year ago
Did any of you watch the speech of Sarah Palin. She did not say Community service was stupid. She stated it did not qualify you for the role of President. It is very admirable what Obama had done for the community but working in Fast Food does not make you a chef.
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
She SHIT all over Obama's community organizing--dog whistle race-baiting for that crowd. And, if you doubt me, Roland Martin on CNN was almost quaking with righteous anger at Palin's filthy tongue.
  • houstonray · 1 year ago
"I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a "community organizer," except that you have actual responsibilities."

Sounds like a diss to me. She didn't stop at the end of 'community organizer'. She had to twist that little dig in about having actual responsibilities. Trust me on this one saber69, I do some volunteer work in the local community and NO ONE is happy today about that little comment.

It was meant in a negative light and it was delivered in a negative light. However, the good news is that it was seen in a negative light. Maybe not to the people in the convention center of course, but to most of the rest of America, they saw through it...
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
    you know... I wonder...

can one actually be elitist AND a community organizer? I mean, if you're elitist, aren't you above helping others?

let them do it themselves... sorta like the repugnican mantra isn't it?
  • LisaLV711 · 1 year ago
Little Annie Oakley has no room to talk from a state that ranks 50th in population and as far as responsibility, we ALL have some some kind of responsibility whether we work in community service or anywhere else. How DARE she put down people who are honorable in THEIR tasks. What is she? What have she done to help anybody but herself? I beg to differ!
  • iWoman · 1 year ago
I think every "community organizer" should be writing to their local, state, and national media about how offensive the Republican Party's attitude is.

Here's a good one to start, from someone who works with the homeless in Cleveland.

    http://jkanary.blogspot.com/2008/09/open-letter...
  • larz · 1 year ago
He's afraid the media might think its his.
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
The community organizers where I grew up were the Mafia; then later, in another state, the Klan. I think Obama needs to distance himself from the Comm. org. theme asap... just sayin.....
  • bluestockton · 1 year ago
John, can you be this snarky in all five of your languages? You're the best!!!
  • GWMustGo · 1 year ago
The sad part about this is that, even though McCain has money (well, his WIFE has money), the wealth would not have been a big issue if the morons in his campaign hadn't started the "elitist" bullstuff. Some folks have lots of money, some folks don't. Either way, as long as whatever money they have was arrived at legally (and morally), money does not make a person angelic nor evil.

But if you are going to call somebody elitist, you damn well better know how many homes you have, or else you come off (correctly in this case) as clueless.

Tortured soul can't buy a right decision, so to speak, these days. Is there a wheelchair handy? Someone needs to roll pop out to the garage before company gets here.
