AMERICAblog: McCain considering using Gustav disaster area as prop for convention acceptance speech

  • Chris From Maine · 1 year ago
I agree completely. McCain wants to use the death and destruction of Gustav to further his political career. hes a sick man.
  • hopelesspedant · 1 year ago
My guess - since they are as of now in the path of Gustav, and they escape damage, he'll speak from a Gulf oil rig.

It's the one issue he is clearly winning on. It would make some sort of (sicj) sense, more than being in the middle of destruction.

He also likely will use the speech to (try to) break big time with Bush, so he'd prefer not to actually be in front of the delegates.

For compelling "optics" he, Cindy, and the Palins will all be hugging specially-selected destitute black folks, in a Rove-approved, Luntz-tested effort at siphoning off the African-American vote from Obama.

Well, the "confetti" will already be on the ground when he starts his Address to a Grateful Homeland. And exploding gas lines and combustible chemicals will serve as fireworks. Obama doesn't have exclusive rights to confetti and fireworks, you know!

    That is totally unacceptable....

That is really sick, but if he does it, it won't help. Fortunately.

And it may turn out, God willling, to be anti-climatic. Gustav has been lowered to category 3, and it appears to be headed toward a relatively unpopulated area.

There is a list of post-Katrina legislation which McCain voted against and which highlights his utter hypocrisy. Someone said it is up on Obama's blog. I still think the Republicans' cynical moves are going to backfire on them.

McCain has no friends, not even a slug!

Who thought THIS was a good idea? Are we sure he's not losing his mind?

I have just been watching CNN and this total idiot Rich Sanchez. Listening to him is like watching a high school newscast. He is an incompetent boob. Debbie Wasserman Schmidt just ripped Palin apart and compared her experience at being mayor to one of the voting districts in Florida. He then said it seems she will take the Hillary supporters over to McCain and she pointed out that Palin is against every single thing that women stand for, women's rights, etc., etc. she also went on to say she was appalled at Palin comparing herself to Hillary. She said "I know Hillary clinton and she is no Hillary Clinton. Sanchez replied I don't believe you just went there and laughed like a 4 year old. How pathetic are these Republican assholes.

Glad DWS is going on the shows tho.

In spite of her friendliness to Repubs near her district, and some of the things she said about Obama when she was on Hillary's team, she's a very good surrogate.

Will the Crazy Old Man be wearing pants?

Oh, you're surprised? I thought the Right was rational? Wrong. They'll claim the dems would do anything for votes; and guess what they do? Anything for votes.
  • lauren1959 · 1 year ago
Let's hope he does it. It seemed as if Sarah Palin was the biggest mistake in judgment that a candidate could make, but it may have just been the tip of that melting iceberg! And let's remember, global warming is not man made...

Hopefully it appears that the American public have awaken from their over consumption spending binge and are once again paying attention to what is going on that these cheap ploys of the republicans won't work.

Are you kidding. These republicans buy the cool aid. Dobson is a happy happy lark. His base is thrilled. The religious right is ruining this country. Now I believe in god but I don't want religion mixing in my government. Just get on some of these right blogs. They are as ribbid as we are about Obama. Even if Obama wins legally they will find a way to steal this election. Am telling you these people are nuts.
