Sounds like Bush and Cheney are dying to take Iran out before they leave office.

Also sounds like Gates and the Generals are dragging their feet to try to stop it.

A Democratic senator told me that, late last year, in an off-the-record lunch meeting, Secretary of Defense Gates met with the Democratic caucus in the Senate. (Such meetings are held regularly.) Gates warned of the consequences if the Bush Administration staged a preëmptive strike on Iran, saying, as the senator recalled, “We’ll create generations of jihadists, and our grandchildren will be battling our enemies here in America.” Gates’s comments stunned the Democrats at the lunch, and another senator asked whether Gates was speaking for Bush and Vice-President Dick Cheney. Gates’s answer, the senator told me, was “Let’s just say that I’m here speaking for myself.”

Katrina vanden huvel got on McShame this morning and called out the media for ignoring his major flip flops while going after Obama.
And she even got Huge Hewitt to shut up. She had help with Arianna Huffington. Those two tag teamed Hewitt. fun.
but, McShame and the fact that the media is not on it about his major fiips on immigration was nailed this morning.

Thanks for filling us in on this matter.
Earlier you suggested an e-mail attack on networks about this, and I think it would be a good idea.
Perhaps John will give us the e-mail addresses.
  • vwcat · 1 year ago
I think we need to be ready. It would be good if John does that. Maybe coordinate with other blogs.
If we make noise and push back the media will listen.
remember how we pushed hard in 06 and the media feared us.
And we got the dialog changed from only rightwing talkingpoints.
    right.

Whichever candidate says he will control illegal immigration will probably win. Health care, union jobs, social security, national defense; all are linked in some way to the illegal problem.

whew! you're a busy busboy! so much trolling, so little time...
impressive the way you cleverly insert the GOPer party line into almost every comment...
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
I don't think controlling the borders is a GOP or Dem issue. It has an approval rating somewhere near 65% last I checked. Are you an "open borders" person?
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
even your BFF little georgie w. believes immigrants should be treated like human beings...

    come on, you're slipping.
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
putting words in my mouth, tls? I have tex-mex g-kids. It's the illegal, no-name, no responsibility issue. Maybe when you get run over by an illegal Mexican National with no auto insurance? Then, you'll understand...

I doubt it. In many states, Illegals are either welcome or U.S. residents are at least tolerant. They don't want to see families broken up as a result of employment raids.
Most people have a heart or have rediscovered it. And that is what will finally dispatch Herr Bu$hCo.

If GM takes bankruptcy, all union contracts are dissolved and they can hire "legalized" Mexican workers at minimum wage. The cost to become legal was $800 last time I checked. No pension plan, no medical. You need to work these facts into your scenario. Believe me, GM has already done so...

You should see the headline on Huffpo. McCain at a fundraiser says Obama's word cannot be trust! Is that rich or what!
Mr. Unstraight Talk is actually saying this. What gall.
  • hawkseye · 1 year ago
Maybe he can't remember what can be trusted and what not about anything. Maybe he's following in the footsteps of Ronnie Raygun and has Alzheimer's.

Senior moments! That is very scary when you stop and think about it.
Where am I. Why am I here? lol

The day that the Iranian missle batteries take out a crude tanker in the strait of Hormuz is the day that we will reduce their military capability to zero. Remember the slogan?: "remember the Maine"? ;-)
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
McCain has never gotten over Obama breaking his word on a "done deal" in the Senate. McCain flipflops on everything in public, so I don't know why this sticks in his craw like it does.
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
Dad's got McCain pegged. How about Obama Dad? Any warts?

Is this not where it is important to start a real tough ad campaign? McCain has flip-flopped on taxes, immigration, torture, his support of the Webb GI Bill (the Webb Bill too generous but now good because McCain added transportability to family members - far more generous) and negotiating with Hamas. Meanwhile his actual voting record has gone from 95% lockstep to 100% lockstep with Bush. This is the time to strike. The press just goes issue by issue without showing the pattern. Each flip flop becomes an isolated incident versus a reputation as a straight talker. Remember how the press took Kerry down unfairly. Here they ignore a two bit phony and support the myth. Hitting the airwaves now with the record will force the press to cover the entire picture instead of the isolated view.

My heart says yes to your proposal, but my head says nobody but political junkies is paying attention to the contest yet.
I think that's why we haven't seen any serious Swiftboating yet.

In Grampa McSame's advanced years some feebleness is to be expected.

I mean if he can't remember to pay his property taxes how on earth is he going to remember his position on so many and varied issues? I bet you could take him out on an easter egg hunt everyday and he wouldn't know the difference.

Has anyone given any thought to the most recent "immigrants" coming to the US as mostly being from countries that the US has made unliveable because of foreign and trade policies? So many are just here to make money--there's no "political refuge" charges from these folks about their own countries and there are large numbers of hardened criminal types breaching the borders, trafficking in humans, drugs and committing other crimes. Most congregate in their own communities, eschewing assimilation which many think is just part of not wanting to "get caught" being here illegally, but which actually in large part is an attempt to preserve their own cultural behaviors and traditions and maintaining an umbilical relationship with their mother country.

This is a cultural phenomenon that could be potentially dangerous sociologically, politically and economically. I think lots of Americans simply don't desire to pay the piper for the mistakes of any administration when it comes to their own well-being as citizens of this country.

And this is why immigration laws should be followed to the letter. Let those who truly wish to become citizens of this country in, following the correct path to citizenship. Either we're a sovereign country with laws or we're not. And if the majority of Americans wish to eliminate immigration laws and allow any and all into this country, those laws will be passed eventually. But don't expect it any time soon.

We either have a plan such as McCain's or we have empty hype.

    JOHN McCAIN’S 3R ECONOMIC PLAN 2008
    Abbreviated version

Progressive Republican Candidate John McCain comes through for America with his 3R economic plan. In the persona of Theodore Roosevelt, McCain’s plan just makes sense.

NUTS AND BOLTS of the plan are simple.

The US needs a separate tax revenue source before it can move away from fossil energy fuels which supply hundreds of billions of dollars in taxes for state and federal agencies.

Here is the John McCain 3R solution.

McCain’s 3R is about technical, closely monitored and rapid hands on training from pros to create new pros. Thousands of currently-job-displaced “once leaders in the manufacturing arena” will be asked to train and play instructor rolls in the 3R plan.
Paid, of course, as these new leaders will help create a whole new style of prosperous America. A massive restructure providing thousands of new American MFG companies means millions of new jobs for infrastructure alone.

    1. RETHINK: America must see globally on what America is capable of in our current state of technology, engineering and meet the demands that face the world.

“RE-Think” the basic job goals involve the dwindling retirement, health care and social security plans that are failing Americans. With a strong base and a higher Gross Domestic Product (GDP) America has a new bargaining chip in the way we live and the ways we retire.

Private Sector framework is in place and current laws allow the 3R to happen. The Progressive attitude of John McCain to get things done by crossing party lines will resurrect America.

    2. REFORM: The American people must demand higher quality products and less restricted trade routes for Made in USA components. We will lead the way of MFG again!

The USA will reform its dead manufacturing base to create the most innovative and green-engineered products possible. We will compete in a world market along with other high quality products. Our Private Sector teams are making this reality now.

    3. REINVENT: America and Americans must reinvent themselves to reach and maintain these standards and by sheer American ingenuity, control the world’s marketplace in the competitive manner, as the USA has always been proud to be #1.

Americans are going back to McCain’s 3R-schooling program where they are paid to reinvent their skills and learn new skills to design and lead their personal LLC, Corporation or joint venture company. That’s easy enough to comprehend and just as easy to implement.

The 3R plan is designed as a six-month rapid advancement system. Graduates may return for additional skill enhancements from time to time, or step up after new advanced training in executive management.

New jobs are the mainstay for Creating a new guard for Social Security.

While manufacturing is a very important part of this plan, thousands of other new businesses must to be created to meet the new surge of 3R manufacturing industries to create a new era of prosperous Americans.

Initial estimates of 1 in 5 students will begin his or her own company and drive even more Americans into a viable lifestyle with real jobs, real benefits and a retirement to look forward to.

This 3R plan will be done without costing taxpayers (or the government) additional funds. America has the means to follow through with John McCain’s 3R plan, ready and in place across the USA. The buildings we need sit vacant for the most part. By assuming leases on abandoned stores and factories across America with MC-3R schools and mini-manufacturing training centers, the USA made products can be sold and support the stores. Building owners write off the loss in taxes over a few years if they donate the space!

This is the new place for financial speculators to invest!

The speculators who first drove the economy with mortgage investments and most recently with crude oil investments have a better arena for their investments. America as nation of industrious individuals who want to work and want to succeed will make them huge profits. The supply of eager Americans with ideas and dreams to prosper is limitless.

Although the thousands of new businesses manufacturing USA Made products is exciting enough, the real excitement comes from the massive amount of additional jobs that will be created to provide the new housing, new buildings, new parks, shopping, grocery stores, schools, government outlets and so much more.

McCain’s Progressive nature embodies Theodore Roosevelt more than any US presidential candidate in history since the original Rough Rider blazed the greatest era of growth in America.

We need John McCain to lead our nation with the same type of change.
