AMERICAblog: McCain defends Kyl's comments that stimulus isn't doing anything, then freaks over threat to take Arizona's stimulus money away

  • cowboyneok · 5 months ago
Please do the same thing to Oklahoma, Obama Admin! Ask Senators Inhofe and Coburn if they want it. When they bitch and claim its not doing enough then threaten to cut it off, and put them in conflict with our Democratic governor who wants it and is doing a good job. Oklahomans need to see which party really cares about them.

I like Hardball... about time we were playing it.

I now understand the hell you endure regarding senators, both of them members of The Family. To bad Will Rogers isn't around to celebrate the vileness of these vermin.

Will Rogers isn't but Jim Hightower is!

I really miss Molly Ivins and Barbara Jordan, we need more of their caliber, Hightower is good but we really need someone with a heroic level of moral authority to thunder our grievances to the high heavens. Thought I saw a glimmer of it in Obama but more amd more that seems to have been an illusion.

Im one of those Dems that isn't a huge fan of the stimulus (mainly because the way it was done and only a small fraction is for infrastructure), but I am loving this. This is the kind of hardball Obama needs to play. Kyl and McCain look stupid right now.

I agree with you on the stimukus bill. It could have been much MORE effective if the Obama admin hadn't felt the need to play so nice with the repugs. His starting position on the stim bill was too far right and caused him to negotiate even further to the right to get THREE repug votes.

They only LOOK stupid because they are ACTING stupid. They are not thinking through their arguments and when they are called on it there's not much they can do -- except LOOK stupid because they ACTed stupid.

Now that's the kind of remarks/comments that gets attention.

It's that cut your nose off to spite your face remark for the GOP that will always be your downfall.

    Excellent. Divide then conquer.

"“I believe the stimulus has been very effective in creating job opportunities throughout the country,” Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood wrote to Brewer. “However, if you prefer to forfeit the money we are making available to the state, as Senator Kyl suggests, please let me know.”"
    =======================================

This is how one deals with pompous republicans. Watch how fast they back pedal when put to the test.

It is nothing short of humiliating that my state keeps electing these imbeciles.

The repugs mistakenly believe that since they are out of power they can't be held to account for what happens. In a way that is true, but they are still totally responsible for any criticism or opposition they put forward. If OsameO were a true progressive he could annihilate the repugs by producing a minimal plan. In my view he will instead produce a plan deficient in many areas and the resulting disappointment will serve to give the repugs cover. I voted for Obama out of blind hope, so far that hope has languished.

This is the kind of stuff Obama should have been doing from day one. It was incredibly naive of him to believe that today's Republicans had even one scintilla of integrity worth appealing to. I've repeatedly said, all Democrats have to do to defeat Republicans is let them talk.....and then make them feel the political consequences of their inability to actually serve the needs of the ordinary citizens who were duped into voting them into office. Allowing the ranting lunacies of today's Republican obstructionists to go unchallenged has been Obama's biggest mistake since he's been office. It's one thing to be politically calculating; it's another thing altogether to be intellectually acquiescent.

What are they talking about? The stimulus is working great for Rick Wagoner.

Maybe Texas and Arizona can secede together and do us all a favor....
