OMG....I watched 2 minutes....and this is so so damning.

    Everyone needs to watch this.

    This man has NO CLUE.

I actually felt sorry for him.....

Really, I felt sorry for him.

    Sad sad doddering old fool.

Email this everyone... and give this a DIGG or what ever you want...but it has to bee seen by everyone

I vote that the reporter asking McCain questions be the one to interview Palin.

They did him a huge favor by keeping his hands below the screen. You can barely see his thumb working nervously while he tries hard to project a calm demeanor. Palin's finally getting some scrutiny but he want's so bad to repeat cliches and ride in on her magic hockey stick.

Wh-wh-wh-where's my hockey mom? I want my hockey mom. Where's my G** D*** Hockey Mom?

    Old McFuddled.
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
Is it just me or can you see McCain's expression change from friendly to veiled anger?
  • gallery · 1 year ago
That's what I see too. It's like he thinks it's below his dignity to have to answer questions from "his base".
All I see is someone who desperately wants to win so he can retreat into a power bubble, lock the door, and tell the American people to kiss his wrinkly old ass.
He really just might be worst than bush.
This guy is stupid AND angry.

    OT

I hope this hits the national news in a big way. Just read a damning article on Raw Story about Cindy McCain's drug use from a man who worked closely with her. Do you think the main stream media is going to pick this up OR is it going to be a "Enquirer" story.

She knows more about energy than anyone in America?? Okey-doke.
  • HereinDC · 1 year ago
That's the answer that floored me. Palin is the most experienced person about Energy? in America?

The Jed Report should put that part of McCain on a video......even the DNC should or Obama.

I would like to see Chris Matthews show that clip in front of a couple GOP pundits.

I would like to see Ed Shultz play that clip at his townhall on Saturday in Alaska.

I would like to see that clip played by David Gregory on Race To The White House.

He's holding up the "next to Russia" meme! I CAN'T BELEIVE IT! He just keeps on repeating the same old talking points over and over and over.....

This is what reporting used to be....McCain would not pass the sniff test in the past. I worry for the US. If this idiot wins....we'll be doomed.
  • Tyke · 1 year ago
Hmmm - Maine is the closest state to Europe along with Greenland and possibly even the middle east (those distance distortions on global maps always throw me). Maine also is practically surrounded by Canada.

Doesn't this make their Governor or senators MUCH, MUCH more qualified than Palin?

I neglected to compliment Rob Caldwell. Very, very fine work. Basic, relevant questions and follow up's. Not difficult for a professional doing a thorough job. Which is why the B.S. gossip quality crap that emanates from the networks is beyond lame. Those pricks call themselves journalists and take home mega bucks for the privilege of doing so but when it comes to doing basic, honest and thorough inquiry and reportage, they'd rather play footsie with those they should be examining.

Rob Caldwell did a fine job.
  • HereinDC · 1 year ago
notice how McCain tried to slip in Energy....and the reporter said no....and repeated his question again.
Love that....a reporter who ACTUALLY listened and wasn't thinking of his next question to ask.

    The Honest Man

There once was a man who could tell no lies
His eyes grew fixed on a noble prize
Off he set on an epic quest
While The Other faced a similar test
Yet Honest Man believed HE was best
He smeared and lied because he knew
deep inside his heart was true
    He wanted to lead
For that right he’d beg and plead
    “Yesterday isn’t today
    But tomorrow could be,
It doesn’t matter what I say
Can’t you people see, it’s me!?”
It was apparent, though, he had changed
    Morals, priorities rearranged
We’re not certain The Other will end ahead
What’s certain is, The Honest Man is dead.
  • Plisko · 1 year ago
That's right John. Keep repeating all the made up stuff about Palin that has been debunked. Keep discrediting your honesty and integrity. You do it well.

    Repeat after me:

Repeat again.. ..and again. . . and again

It seems to me that if the practitioners of campaign journalism can’t figure out a way to make it so that lying is punished, rather than amplified and rewarded, by the press then they ought to pack up their bags and go do something else

  • osage · 1 year ago
So, it is John McCain's best judgment that Sarah Palin is qualified to represent America on the issue of national security because she's familiar with "oil ". I thought it was because Alaska is next Russia. Is she also qualified to represent America's economic interests because she's familiar with "oil" or is it because she left Wassila with a huge amount of debt when she became governor? Do her qualifications for dealing with the issues of immigration or national education or foreign relations somehow relate to her familiarity with "oil" too? McCain and his handlers genuinely see American voters as morons who believe every lie and every mistatment of fact they repeat often enough. Today's Bush/McCain Republicans are pathetic con-artists who prey on the ignorance of low information voters and the easily manipulated emotions of jingoists, racists, sexists and faux-Christians who want to legislate morality based on their selectively distorted perceptions of how Jesus Christ lived his life and how he wanted his sacrifice to benefit "all" of mankind, not just those who pretend to be true Christians.

    Are you kidding me?????

That reporter may have asked one or two tough questions, but he let McCain (as usual) lie, spew lie after lie with his answers. He didn't call him out on it. Typical MSM. Typical.

I'm surprised you thought that was a good interview. So what that McCain looks like a dufus and acts like a dufus. He lied. And he got away with it for the 1,567,445,699th time so far this campaign season.,
  • Sage24 · 1 year ago
Awww. poor Mac, he is trying hard, and failing, at defending his moose eater.
Watch him dodge questions, fumble, and try to fabricate the fact that his darling VP is just another empty pantsuit, so much like emperor Bush, who turned out to be a dud president. She has foreign experience because she lives next to RUSSIA? Give us a break. This is the worst pick ever. What a disaster.
McCain is just an old, stammering, man, who is using this empty package, all tied up with bows and glitter, to fool the republicans into voting for him.

As for those republicans, and others who think this is the ideal ticket, going to bring them change....think again.

Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice......eh...you can't fool me again.
  • curlytoes79 · 1 year ago
I can't believe they're still using the "Alaska is next to Russia" talking point. That's the most absurd thing ever. Hey, I once made a pit stop at a gas station in Louisville - maybe I should be governor of Kentucky.

These people should be laughingstocks, not serious contenders for the presidency.

Let me get this straight...she's the most popular Governor....ooooo, I'm all atwitter...She's a ROCKSTAR (arms reaching to the sky, legs in a lunge)! So, she's recently charged the state for time spent in her home, but she's given it back once it was found out? Doesn't show much moral superiority to me. She's for stealing before she was against it? And, let's see what else? Being a Governor of a rural state for a year and a half gives one more experience than being a Senator on the world stage for 4 years (before that he was a State Senator for 8 years--a co-participant with any Governor in running a state). He taught law, was a Magna Cum Laude student, Grammy Winner, and has children who would hardly run around with a self-proclaimed redneck, who would enjoy beating the s**t out of people (his Myspace page); Or to paraphrase Bill Maher : could you see Michelle Obama if she found out her daughters were running around with some "gangsta" who said the same the same thing? "If I see you with a boy like that, I'm gonna knock the black off your a**" There is no amount of lipstick that's gonna make that Karen Walker lookalike attractive.

That said, it is unbelievable to hear McCain pimp Palin like she's the hallmark of his campaign, the centerpiece of his lifelong career in politics, a person whom he met for the first time less than a month ago.

Based on what? Nobody knows what she thinks on any of that stuff. What makes her right? Maybe you should let her do some interviews.

This idea of McCains to go on local TV stations is a bad one. These reporters want to make a name for themselves nationally. If they can trip him up, and actually ask tough questions, they have nothing to lose, and everything to gain should he make an enormous gaffe.
  • sukabi1 · 1 year ago
I disagree, I think it's an excellent idea, for exactly the reasons you stated, and here's why:
    1. McCain sinks his own campaign.
    2. We get some reporters at the national level that will actually do their jobs, (at least for a year or two, and when they fail they should be replaced with some other enterprising reporter that will ask the questions.)
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
She's been right on Iran! She's been right on Iraq! She's been right on Russia! And Obama has been wrong, wrong, wrong. BWAHAHAHA! "No wonder the McCain campaign doesn't want McCain answering questions. He can't. "

Then that makes two Republican candidates for President and VP who can't answer questions. Unfortunately, only one of them is refusing to be interviewed or questioned by the media.

Are there really voters who would vote for candidates who refuse to be scrutinized in advance by the electorate?

Who put "candid" in the word "candidate"?
  • airman1865 · 1 year ago
I totally agree that obama is more qualified to handle the nations security since his upbringing is based around muslim radicals. What better way to deal with this issue than to go to someone who thinks just like they do! Perfect!!! The interview was all about experience and it is still hard to believe that people don't understand that obama has absolutely NONE at all. The first debate is coming up very soon and it is going to be interesting to see how obama does when asked a real question about the country instead of a question he has already been spoon fed the answer to.

This post will be deleted since I am not gay or looking for a handout!

  • proudmom41 · 1 year ago
This is exactly what you republicans do best, when faced with adversity, you fear monger! The truth is that Obama went to a Catholic school until 1st or 2nd grade and then, because his mother, who was working for women's rights in Indonesia, couldn't afford to keep him in the private school, reluctantly enrolled him in the Indonesian public school system. Oh, and yes, there were Muslims there, but my kids go to school with Muslims too and yours do to, if they are in a public school system. When he was 10 his mother made the painful decision to send him back to Hawaii because she was concerned he wasn't getting the best education, where I might add, he attended a highly acclaimed private school, on scholarship! As far as his experience is concerned, you might want to do a little research. As a comparison, John F. Kennedy was only in the polical realm for 13 years prior to being elected president. As of now, Obama has been an elected offical for 11 years. Not much difference there. I will concede that Kennedy's experience was all garnered in Washington, however I would rather vote for someone who has political experience in a state with the third largest city in the nation and which also boasts the third largest gross metropolitan product in the country as compared to voting for the Govenor of a state with less than 1 million residents, a Governor who promotes hunting wolves by air and a state that has the country's highest sexual assault rate per capita!

McCain Still Struggling With The Basics
    By Steve Benen

    Sep 11, 2008

(Political Animal) MCCAIN STILL STRUGGLING WITH THE BASICS.... There's been ample discussion of late about Sarah Palin being sequestered, away from the media, because the McCain campaign isn't confident in her ability to answer questions about, well, much of anything. But what about McCain's ability to answer questions?

AmericaBlog posted a clip of an interview McCain did, via satellite, with Rob Caldwell at WCSH in Portland, Maine. Caldwell noted, for example, that McCain insisted that national security and counter-terrorism is the number one issue facing the United States. McCain denied ever having said that. Caldwell moved on, asking about Sarah Palin's experience in national security. McCain responded by attacking Barack Obama.

"Well, you say you're sure she has the experience, but again, I'm just asking for an example," Caldwell said. "What experience does she have in the field of national security?" McCain responded:

"Energy. She knows more about energy than probably anyone else in the United States of America. She's a governor of a state where 20% of America's energy supply comes from there. And we all know that energy is a critical and vital national security issue. We've got to stop sending $700 billion of American money to countries that don't like us very much. She's very well versed on that issue."And, uh, she also happens to represent, be governor of a state that's right next to Russia. She understands Russia."

I'm afraid this is just embarrassingly incoherent. First, the notion that Palin's proximity to Russia counts as national security experience continues to be unusually stupid, even for McCain.

Would you also laugh when McCain and Palin are elected, and we have to go through four more years of pain?
And here is another chuckle....people who keep doing the same thing, and expect different results, usually are not v. bright.
What makes you think that a man peddling the same failed policies, using the same corrupt people, who lied us into war, and using Rove,
the man who smeared McCain in 2000, to use the same lying tactics, will be change to this country? If you do, then you would be rolling with
    laughter on the floor.
  • proudmom41 · 1 year ago
Did you loose your little mind? I don't know what you've been reading, but you obviously missed the mark in regards to Biden's overwhelming qualifications, especially on foreign policy! He is the Chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. And as far as Senator Obama is concerned, what type of narcissist passes up a lucrative 6 figure salary to return to Chicago to sign people up to vote for a mere penance? Come on, you know you don't know what you're talking about. You obviously didn't know that he was the first black President of the Harvard Law Review, that he was a poor bi-racial kid who got where he is through hard work, dedication and a desire to make a difference in the lives of the less fortunate in this country! Please don't spew your ignorant Pro-McCain crap! And don't even push the Patriot card! There are a lot of Patriots in this country who sacrificed just as much as McCain and continue to do so in Irag and Afghanistan, Being a Patriot is not the only qualification for President. The man has so much money and so many houses he can't even remember how many he has! And you think that the American people, as a whole, are going to support someone like that? And as far as Sara Palin is concerned, she is an egotistical, power hungry, selfish women who has put her own professional ambitions above the needs of her family and children! Do you really think that American women are going to vote for someone they don't respect and whose values are so far skewed to the right that she will destroy all that we have worked for over the past 100 years. Get a grip and get a reallity check!

I absolutely know what I am talking about. I know Obama's biography and his rhetoric. Obama is SADLY my senator. I live in Illinois.  Obama is a DO NOTHING politician that came to Chicago because he wanted to be a BIG FISH is a smaller pond.  Obama came to Chicago to help himself politically.  The disadvantaged people were his stepping stone.  Do you not know that Chicago has the largest Black population in the country??  Look at the census report.  And Obama did nothing to clean up his own district.   Obama is dangerously unprepared to lead.  Democrats really lowered the bar with nominating this guy.  A community organizer is small credentials to show for a person seeking the Presidency. Obama will lose.  Get used to it.  It's a lopsided ticket.  There certainly aren't that many dumb people in America.  The majority are learning taxes will skyrocket with Obama.  Do you actually believe people who are rich will continue work
to support those who don't work, are lazy or less gifted??  ABSOLUTELY NOT!  A greater number of jobs would be lost.  The country would be bankrupted with Obama ... not to mention being at risk with national security.  And rely on Biden??  Didn't you just hear Biden say, Hillary would have been a better VP pick?  How comforting are you now??  Biden runs his mouths too much which would endanger the country.  It's over.  You lost.

Maybe, once again, you should do some research before you start spouting about things you obviously only know about from gossip! And, for your information, I'm from Illinois too, and I voted for him, as State Rep and as US Senator!  Regardless of what you "think", he is hugely popular among democrats in the state, and has done a fine job as US Senator representing the other part of Illinois that is somehow always forgotten. You know, the "Southern" part, that would be the part South of Springfield. Probably one of the worst economically depressed regions in the state, save for the South Side of Chicago. And as I said in a previous post, he has comparable experience to the late, great JFK. If it was good enough for him, it's good enough for me. At least I don't have to worry about Mr. Obama forgetting where he lives if he wanders from the White House, nor do I have to worry that Mr. Biden will start praying that God will give him a plan to handle our
adversaries and allies overseas. Come on, the Republican Ticket is a joke, and not matter how much you protest, only the stubborn right wing "Christian Conservatives" will stick with them through the end.

"The Tribune analyzed 119 grants in which Obama steered more than $6 million for Chicago projects between late 1999 and late 2002, the heart of his Statehouse career..."  Sounds like to me, he worked pretty hard for his constituents while a State Rep. No one in Chicago seems to be complaining!

Obama is NO JFK!  That's a ridulous comparison.  The guy has done nothing.  NADA!  He voted present most of the, remember!  And I am NO religious conservative.  I am for Roe vs. Wade and would love to see guns banned.  The decision becomes what is BEST for the country.  Obama has NO record of doing anything other than laying a foundation to get from point A to Point B in the shortest amount of time.  Look at his pitiful District 13. He didn't do anything to help anyone, but get himself name recognition.  I also have friends in Southern Illinois who share the same opinion.  In fact, one is the daughter of the late mayor of Jacksonville.  And another is the MD who runs the new medical facility.  All you seem to know is the pitiful propaganda circulated by the LIBERAL bias media.  MSNBS and CNN etc .... thought early on they could get their candidate elected by slanting the reporting.  Well, everyone caught on.  It just didn't make sense
that Obama wasn't getting scrutinized for Ayers and Rezko etc...  Now, that people realize how dangerously unprepared Obama is and lacks the proper judgement, McCain has risen.  I could support alot of other candidates, just NOT Obama.  Has America wanted a Black candidate than we should have tried harder to get Colin Powell.  Powell was my neighbor in Virginia and revered by ALL!  The media ONLY wants Obama because of the potential judicial seats.  The owners of MSNBC and Cnn are owed by RADICAL Liberals.  When McCain gets in there is so much to do he probably won't go after what the media thinks he will.  Bigger problems exist than overturning Roe vs. Wade.  This election will be a slam dunk.  It's nowhere close to be 50-50.  There are just NOT that many dumb Americans.  When the election is over write me back, I have some land in the Everglades to sell you.  You seem to believe all the garbage Democrats spew ...... the land sale
will be an easy profit for me.  Wake up!!  You have a person with a record of lifetime achievement and then you have someone who gave a speech at the DNC.

You need to go to FactCheck.org or maybe The Times or better yet, take a peek at http://www.mccainpedia.org/index.php/Main_Page to read all of the lies that McCain has been caught telling. I don't care about his war record! I care that he thinks just becuase Sara Palin is the governor of Alaska, the closest state to Russia, that she has foreign policy experience. I care that he has been a huge opponent of pork barrel spending and then asks someone who has recieved more money per capita from pork barrel projects than any other governor or mayor in the country, to be his running mate. I care that his economic plan would include no increase in taxes for the middle class, but continued tax breaks for the ultra rich! I care that he doesn't have a clue how many homes he owns and that he is so out of touch with everday people that he thinks that that is okay!  I care that if he becomes our next president, he will fill Supreme Court seats with ultra
conservative judges that will overturn not just Roe v. Wade, but affirmative action and many other protections that women and minorities have. I care that Sara Palin puts her own political aspirations above her family, who so desperately needs her to be there for them. I care that McCain wants victory in a war that has no winners and could never have a victor. I care that he has supported George W. Bush, nearly 90% of the time on every major issue, and we've seen where that has gotten us. I care that he left his mutilated and disfigured wife, for a ultra wealthy socialite who had a problem abusing prescription drugs. I care that he thinks women of this country are so stupid that we would vote for any other women, besides Hillary, just to have a women in the White House. I care that he took a statement by Barrack Obama, that he has made many times, "lipstick on a pig", and tried to say that Obama said it about Palin. Obviously, even Karl Rove has a
conscious: He made it clear yesterday that McCain's ad against Obama was a lie. McCain admitted as much today! I care that he told a deplorable joke, 20 years ago, when he was old enough to know better, that descrided a women being raped by a gorilla and loving it. I care that he made a hateful remark regarding an 18 year old girls looks (Chelsey Clinton), when he was old enough to know better. I care that he no longer has honor, regardless of his military sacrifice, because he sold it to the devil for a chance to be President. I care that there were many more qualified candidates that he could of chosen for his VP, IE. Lieberman, Romney, Gwaltney, Snow. What a slap in the face to those who truly deserved the opportunity! When you know THE FACTS about the person you choose to support, then we'll have a real discussion. Until then, this conversation is over!

bravo Rob .. .this interview is rather stunning ...

did you know gov Palin knows everything about everything that ever was and ever will be??????
  • dailytannenbaum · 1 year ago
The Russia meme is ridiculous. Especially when you consider that Alaska is closer to the vast wasteland of Sibera than Moscow. Based on a Google map and a ruler on my computer screen (scientific, I know) Chicago is actually closer to Moscow than Wasilla. And who's from Chicago?

I do believe he is in the beginning of senility or dementia or Alzheimer's and that is sad for him. He probably knows he had the ability at one time, but we can see he has lost that ability. There are other clips that I saw recently that really reinforced this. Surely there are some medical professionals who can identify this?
However, I am angry that the repubs are trying to pass him off on us. We are trying to get rid on one of those incompetents.
And Palin, is a very lucky woman with ambition. No interviews or questions yet for 4 weeks. They had better agree to debates because that will show the public the "pig in the poke."

I think this Rob Caldwell guy did a good job. He stepped in when he needed to, and just because he didn't hammer McCain over one issue over and over ("Answer the question!!!!"), I think he did the right thing by asking real questions. McCain then looked terrible not answering any of them. Caldwell got in a lot of questions in a small amount of time and look what we got in return...eeeeeek. McCain looked so stiff and uncomfortable and out of it.

Imagine - a reporter doing his job! Unthinkable on the overpaid, overfed, corporate-owned media. They will try to escort this stupid sonofabitch right into the White House.

That video was truly pathetic, but at least we know that Gov Palin knows more about energy than ANYONE ELSE in this Country. I'm sure there are some experts out there that don't agree with him.
  • kenmaya · 1 year ago
I just had my faith in the media restored by Maine and Rob Caldwell. From watching McCain's interview back to back with Pailn's I have to agree that McCain and Palin are definitely soul mates. What are the lobbyist spin crew trying to foist off on us with this duo? It's sure not a change.

Before implying or calling others clueless for connecting Energy to National Security, please read up a little,e.g.,

    http://ideas.repec.org/p/tky/fseres/2007cf482.html

    or

"Our present system of energy is weakening our national security, hurting our pocketbooks, violating our common values and threatening our children's future. Right now, instead of national security dictating our energy policy, our failed energy policy dictates our national security. " -- quote from http://clinton.senate.gov/news/statements/detai...
