AMERICAblog: McCain flips flops on raising taxes

McCain's a weasel. Everybody knows that already. The only people who like him are a handful of fawning MSM "journalists" who think BBQ is more important than truth or 'booty'...

I don't think McSame flip-flopped at all. McSame is a liar of convenience. His lies are specific to the audience and subject matter that is in front of him. McSame will tell you anything that he thinks you want to hear. McSame is such a typical republican that I bet he lies even in his own dreams.

Either that or he can't remember what he says from day to day.

Why oh why is the media NOT paying attention? The LACK of pertinent coverage of McCain's mistakes, gaffe's, flip flops and downright lies is stunning!

I have already written to CNN and plan on writing to CBS, ABC, FOX, MSNBC (and any other venue I can think of) and take them to task for being as lax as they are in coverage of this crucial campaign.

We know what they did for Bush and now it appears they are shilling for McCain. Well, I won't go down without some really loud protests!

I'm not one to defend the MSM, but I have to kind-of-sort-of disagree with you on this one. I think they are, slowly, beginning to see that the emperor really has no clothes. McCain is vassilating so much on so many different positions that it's hard for even the MSM to ignore the pile of poo he's laying down. On top of that McCain is really coming across as a big-ole whiner and it doesn't help for him to call out the media as biased the way he has lately.

I think you and blogs are doing the right thing by keeping the pressure on them. We have to demand that the media doesn't white-wash McCain and get him into the WH the same way they did with Bush.

Hello Wraith, long time no see! Have you been away or have I just been around at different times?

I have got to say that I would LIKE to believe your premise that the media is"coming around", but I can't say I have witnessed any of that trend. On the contrary, I have found the press the be simply disgraceful in their obvious bias for McCain.

I'm not sure if you read the latest poll out on this very issue: "Is the press harder on Obama than McCain?" Well, the answer was a most definite YES! Here's just one exerpt:
"The Center for Media and Public Affairs at George Mason University, where researchers have tracked network news content for two decades, found that ABC, NBC and CBS were tougher on Obama than on Republican John McCain during the first six weeks of the general-election campaign."
    http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/la-na-onth...

Yes, when the network news was researched more fully, 28% of the statements were positive for Obama and 72% negative and yet the results for McCain were 43% positive and 57% negative.

Does anyone recall the Dan White "Twinkie Defence"? It's time to attribute Johnny's flip-flops, lies & pre senile dementia to a Dunkin Doughnuts' o.d.

McCain's son is in the news for his resignation from 2 bank Board of Directors positions, citing "personal reasons"....

Shares of Silver State Bancorp, of which Andrew McCain owns 1,226, closed at $1.28 a share on Friday. The stock's 52-week high on Nasdaq (symbol SSBX) is $24.10.

The Tax Policy Center prepared an interesting report (pdf) this week, noting the key differences between the economic policies articulated by John McCain and the economic policies presented by John McCain’s presidential campaign. There’s a bit of a gap — to the tune of $2.8 trillion (that’s “trillion,” with a “t”).

According to the study, the tax plan McCain’s campaign laid out privately is different from the one he’s selling on the stump. If you include the policies he has advocated publicly—such as repealing the Alternative Minimum Tax, increasing the dependent exemption to $7,000 right away, and reducing the corporate tax rate to 25 percent immediately—then the deficit after 10 years would actually be $2.8 trillion greater than if you go by his private plan. There’s also a rhetorical gap for Obama, but in his case the public version generates more revenue than the private one, thanks to a suggested hike in payroll taxes for people who make $250,000 or more.

How does the McCain campaign respond to this? As it turns out, hilariously.

Douglas Holtz-Eakin, McCain’s chief economic adviser, told Slate, “[McCain] has certainly I’m sure said things in town halls” that don’t jibe perfectly with his written plan. But that doesn’t mean it’s official.”

Got that? If we want to better understand John McCain’s economic policies, we should overlook what John McCain says about his economic policies. McCain’s “official” positions don’t come from McCain.

There was a time when I had some respect for McCain, but he has sold out completely. He's another puppet of the corporations and a sycophant of K street. I don't know about this "maverick" on the "straight talk express", but his tracks are easy to read:
