AMERICAblog: McCain has chosen his VP. The buzz seems to be on Pawlenty.

    Tim Polenta??
"Polenta is made with ground yellow or white cornmeal. It can be ground coarsely or finely depending on the region and the texture desired. As it is known today, polenta derives from earlier forms of grain mush commonly eaten in Roman times and after. Early forms of polenta were made with such starches as the grain farro and chestnut flour, both of which are still used in small quantity today. When boiled, polenta has a smooth creamy texture due to the gelatinization of starch in the grain, though it may not be completely homogenous if a coarse grind or a particularly hard grain such as flint corn is used."
Perfect description of McCain's running mate - boiled white gelatinized grain mush.

Hello canuck, the manly Mr. Biscuitbarrel and I were calling Pawlenty "Polenta" last night, but your last line--"boiled white gelatinized grain mush"--is perfect!

No, no, no Text Messages! For his big donors and bundlers, McSame will send a Pony Express courier to gallop up the curving driveway of your mansions and shout the Veep pick to you, or to your staff.

    the buzz? what buzz?

i think its still going to be romney. i think this is just mccain's way of trying to create some stir about his selection. but quite frankly, i don't think anyone gives a damn.

The "buzz" is actually a deep, sleep apnea-like snoring.

    Hillarious! Thanks!

LOL....John, the "groundhog" comment killed me! Totally got it.

Since McCain's been the "presumptive GOP" nominee for 2-3 months, that he's taken this long to finally, maybe decide on a choice of running mate should give everyone pause.... what have they been doing for the last several months, planning the invasion of a small country?

Under Pawlenty's reign, Minnesota's crime rate has gone through the roof.

Another excellent point. If he is the nominee, all this will come out in the wash.

I'm pretty good with this pick in that everyone is gonna say, "Who the hell is that??"

Mitt Romney was probably the best pick mostly because McCain is not going to run on any issue, but is going to run on the Anti-Obama platform. And since Mitt was the dirtiest campaigner during the primary, he would have been the best for this job.

Tom Ridge was actually a bit worrisome only because he appears as somewhat of a moderate Republican. This would have helped sell a bi-partisan image of McCain to Independents.

But Pawlenty?? I don't really see what that guy helps him in any one area. And here McCain will be announcing it on news-dump Friday right after one of the biggest political events in decades. Duh!! -- but in a good way for us. ;)

or maybe not... there's talk of postponing their convention .... due to Gustav, or more likely it's just REALLY hard to follow the Dem convention and Obama's speech when you've got nothing but *POW*

The answer to "Who the hell is that?" (if "that" is Pawlenty) is, of course, he's the man who let the bridge collapse in Minneapolis because he vetoed an infrastructure-repair bill. As closely as I follow politics, that's still the only thing I know about Polenta, but it's enough.

This is what the Dems will be able to stick him with, if, he is the choice. Hopefully he is, the MSM and the Dems should have a field day tearing this man apart on his readiness "to lead" if the time comes.

This is the kind of stuff that will backfire bigtime for the GOP.

Excellent analysis Kissman: Very few people have heard of this man, and the big question will be, "Who in the hell is he?"

There is a possible reason for the pick. Pawlenty has put his state in a lot of #1 positions: education, sat scores, degrees above the age of 25, high school graduates, no taxes raised in the face of record deficits.

I agree with you fully, but I'm curious as to how they'll sell the package deal.

Pawlenty? Everybody be nice, now. We'll have paw-lenty of time to make fun after Labor Day.

I never voted for this clown and the fact that he put the Lt. Gov. in charge of MNDOT was his worst appointment (judgement) of his two terms. He smiles alot and they like him, not so much with everything else. My money is still on Magic Underpants getting the nod.

    Politico.com says it's not Pawlenty.

Yeah! Tim Pawlenty!!! Can you feel the excitement?!!! (no jokes please about guys named Tim).

Not by telegraph Joe, smoke signals. I'm waiting for that plume near the horizon.

The only reason Pawlenty is still governor is because there was a third candidate who ran against him and the Democrat. Add to that the fact that he nixed bills regarding the need to repair the degrading infrastructure (which ultimately led to the 35W collapse) I think Pawlenty is an excellent choice....for OUR side.

That commercial writes itself: "The Republican bridge to America's future."

Well the lastest news its not him either. Now they are floating some female governor from Alaska. You can't write this stuff. Yes bring attention to Alaska where their senior Senator is going to trial for corruption. She doesn't have the so called experience that they paint with Obama. She is a woman. As if they think they will get Hillary voters than they are insulting women.
