AMERICAblog: McCain has stopped holding news conferences

  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
I'm getting that McShrub is having little strokes in his head and it's making him very angry. The campaign is concerned he may explode on camera.
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
It sounds like the campaign is afraid that McCain can no longer hold his own in a real press conference.
    ---

I think the mcsame campaign is scared shitless of how he'll perform in a question & answer scenario... especially after Jeb's video of him completely losing track of what the question asked was (and possibly where HE was?) went viral.

just watch the video again, think of his campaign people and what they must've been thinking... nuff said.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1xalbKj1uVI

again, if he's THIS bad when fielding questions... the debates are going to be fun to watch.
  • moreleesafer · 1 year ago
oooooh I am soooooooooooo looking forward to the debates. I'm going to be Tivo-ing and replaying the good parts for months while I await the inauguration of President Obama
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
Case in point: his befuddled, pathetic performance last week in Florida, especially when asked a question that pushes back in the slightest (like Eilperin's).
  • Indigo · 1 year ago
Yes. That might have been a turning point.

It was a simple question, not asked with a harsh voice, and with friendly wife and Governor Crist standing along side and smiling while the wind blew softly and the palms swayed in the breeze. It was an AARP in Florida moment with no threats in sight. He responded, as you say, completely befuddled. Suddenly . . . it was an Alzheimer's ad.

    Time to go.
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
    but... but... he's so FUNNY!

can't we just let him stay around until he loses his temper on camera?? c'mon, I RELLLLLLY want to see that!

I bet if Zogby took a poll on it, probably about 89% of the public would want to see it as well.

    :-)
  • Indigo · 1 year ago
I conceed your point, it'd be especially funny to watch him go ballistic on Meat the Press.
  • AdrianBrowne · 1 year ago
    And that was McCain's "strength."
  • dad · 1 year ago
    my friends..

    drool here. drool now.

    warshington.
  • AdrianBrowne · 1 year ago
He already takes weekends off. Perhaps the campaign is getting to be just a little too much for the ol . . . . for Mr. McCain.

This is simple Rovian strategy. Tightly control the message and attack attack attack. Since there are no "off the cuff" remarks, its harder to find gaffe's, contradictions, etc. for responsive ads. Of course, the press will never mention this, but will hound Obama when he's not available or says no to a town hall.

It worked with Bush. Do you remember what Bush's platform? No, because he only gave a few generalized tidbits (cut taxes, strong defense, etc.) and spent the rest of the time making Kerry defend himself from the lies. People voted for Bush because they didn't like Kerry/Gore. They really didn't know Bush or his positions, but he didn't seem as bad as that elitist Kerry/Gore.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
    Exactly.

The "Bush Bubble" has descended on McCain.
  • AdmNaismith · 1 year ago
But I'm not sure anyone wants to have a beer with this guy. It's like spending time with your grandpa where you have to let him have the TV clicker and not make any loud noises.

That said, there is a huge group that could be made to vote for McCain out of general or specific fears of Obama (despite the fact that everything the American Public is afraid of is a direct result of the Republican Party).
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
not even his repugnican peers want to have a beer with him.
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
actually, chimpy's platform was just 'compassionate conservatism'... which, of course, was never defined or explained.

...and people liked the idea of having a beer with him.

most of them, however, didn't realize that the guy with panties on his head dancing on the kitchen table singing 'La Bamba' after doing five funnels of Millwalkee's Best probably isn't the best choice for President.
  • Bostonian_Queer_in_Dallas · 1 year ago
This is right on the money. Rove knows that the best strategy is to make sure people think Obama is elitist and remind them he also has an arabic middle name. Keep McSame under cover as long as you can. Rove is going to have to go even nastier this time. There are plenty of voters out there who will follow this lead. It's just a matter of time before we start seeing ads with the "N" word. It works. Rove knows this. We need our own Karl Rove on our side. The country votes for its president like junior high kids pick student council president.
  • donotmakemecomedownthere · 1 year ago
Sounds like McCain's GOP campaign handlers are 'playing the age-card,' by using their poor old coot's senility as a cop-out to not answer any serious question about anything anymore, especially their misguided Plan for America..
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
"Senator McCain would love to answer your questions at this time... but its time for his nap. What? Did I hear a snicker out there? That was just rude... What's WRONG with you people! You're all AGEISTS! Did you hear me? AGEISTS!... That's it, Senator McCain refuses to talk to the press again... Ever!................. umm, can someone wipe that bit of drool off John's chin?" - mcsame's press secretary
  • luvboxer · 1 year ago
TO DAMN OLD TO BE RUNNING...I CAN'T WAIT TILL AFTER THE CONVENTION. LET'S SEE HOW HE WILL HOLD UP THEN...WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE AMERICAN PEOPLE TO EVEN THINK OF VOTING FOR THIS MAN.....
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
They're putting him in a "Bush Bubble."

Do any of his wife's 9 properties have brush?

If so, expect photo-ops of him clearing it next.

And, of course, the Corporate Media will go along for the ride.

    Again.

Wanna bet McCain blew his top when he was told about the bus accident.
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
    bus accident?

did someone finally notice the 'Obama '08' sticker on the bumper?

She's be a killer cold open Convention start..."We're at the Convention, bitches!"
  • Rob Mule · 1 year ago
McCain has stopped holding news conferences

Perhaps all the microphones are making his new Bush-patented secret tansmitter/receiver hookup go wonky...
Remember, Bush actually barked, dry-humped the podium and wet the floor in his second debate with Kerry to little press attention.

Holy crap, that's a lot of blinking!!!
  • shrrrr · 1 year ago
Sounds like those in the inner circle of McSame's campaign know he is not up to the task. He's simply not going to last three more months of this.
  • maudegonne · 1 year ago
Spurred by the souring economy and a newfound willingness to embrace conservative candidates, the Democratic Party is running its most competitive campaign across the South in 40 years, fielding potential winners along a rib of states stretching from Louisiana to Virginia, the heart of the Old Confederacy. Sen. Barack Obama's ability to excite African-American voters in certain Southern races could provide an additional boost, too.

The party's rising prospects point toward a once unthinkable goal: a reversal of the "Great Reversal," the switch in political loyalties in the 1960s that made the South a Republican stronghold for a generation. If the current picture holds, Democrats could use the Southern strength to help craft a workable Senate majority and expand their majority in the House of Representatives. At the very least, it widens the field of competitive seats, forcing Republicans to fight fires in once-reliably solid areas. "This is clearly new territory," says Maryland Rep. Chris Van Hollen, the Democratic Party's chief strategist for House races.

The story of Mr. Bright, the current mayor of Montgomery, could have been sketched by Robert Penn Warren, the novelist who famously captured the essence of Southern populism.

So Newt's afraid the GOP will revert to the status of permanent minority party? Look for the silver lining, Newtie: at least you'll have more time to spend looking for wife No. 4. Given your matrimonial history, you must think No. 3 is starting to look frayed around the edges.

McCain's afraid of reporters but the same reporters say only he can "keep us safe from tearists"
  • Rob Mule · 1 year ago
I love how Johnny walks like his diaper needs changing...
  • bluestockton · 1 year ago
He should also avoid the Buffalo Chip look with the tieless shirts and the baseball cap. They make him look like the grandpa everybody wishes would just hurry up and die.
  • mirth · 1 year ago
Shhhhhhhh. Don't give them any free advice!

Hey McJohn, love the shirts and cap!
  • 1billinnj2 · 1 year ago
age is always a factor. he is showing it badly now. he is making too many mistakes. i think they are protecting him like they protected ronald reagan with his memory lost.
  • rednose · 1 year ago
My mother, who is 86, has started having short-term memory issues in the last couple of years. When I saw the video of McCain with Charlie Crist the other day, it reminded me of how she is these days and I thought, he's losing it.
  • moreleesafer · 1 year ago
wait...isn't he like 74? I don't have time to check right now.....
so that means he was born when his mother was a teenager.

well, I guess that was no big deal, though. In COLONIAL America that was not uncommon for women to marry at such a young age. Assuming she WAS married.
  • BorninUSA · 1 year ago
Rove certainly has his work cut out for him with mcshame. Will mcshame actually go through with the debates or will he suddenly have an attack of (fill in the blank) and be unable to attend? Surely Joe or Lindsay would be happy to fill in for him. Or maybe Hillary. It is soooo obvious that mcshame has failed over the past eight years. Compare videos of him in 2000 or 2001 with today. How can the msm continue to call him a maverick? He is one sick, tired, old, old man. This is the campaign of his life and he doesn't work on weekends, no longer gives news conferences, and screws up over and over. And the msm and the American people don't think anything is wrong?
  • bluestockton · 1 year ago
Maybe Obama should reverse himself and agree to as many "town hall meetings" as McSame originally asked for. If the white-haired dude's handlers are afraid he can no longer handle an unscripted session, so much the better. These get-togethers are even more unscripted than the so-called presidential debates.
  • AdmNaismith · 1 year ago
Unfortunately, Obama isn't so brilliant off-script either.

    I...think, uh...that...we...as...a, um...country...
  • mirth · 1 year ago
The McC campaign is imploding, yet many Dems want Obama to "fight back." Fight back what? Ridiculousness? The Obama team knows what they are doing, just as they did in the Primary. Right now, he or his surrogates or supporters are answering what needs a response and letting the other crap slide. After the convention when he has a VP selection and they come off the high that the convention will be, then is when he should take off the velvet gloves. Not before.

    FYI
  • shrrrr · 1 year ago
mirth, your analysis is spot on. Timing is everything.
  • mirth · 1 year ago
    Thanks, shrrrr.

Those who are asking for moremoremore from Obama, as if they want him AT THIS STAGE of the election to get McC baby poop all over him...well, I do not get it.

    Here's what I get:

Don't believe the lying polls! This is what's really happening.
  • moreleesafer · 1 year ago
Good point. let's have some town hall meetings and debates. watching McCombover's eyes glaze over as he desperately searches his memory for the carefully crafted Rove-answer to audience questions.
  • mirth · 1 year ago
    Yes!, moreleesafer.
There's plenty of time to shred McSame, whatever is left of him after the conventions. Let's just do it closer to the election so they don't have time to re-group.

The best is yet to come.
  • BorninUSA · 1 year ago
I heard that both candidates will be asked the same questions in the debates. But rest assured that Brokaw, Schieffer, Lehrer, and Ifill have been given their orders to "go easy on mcsame." Give him plenty of time to answer and make sure he doesn't look foolish. Now that's going to be difficult!
  • moreleesafer · 1 year ago
    because he's John F-ing McCain, that's why.

John McCain does not speak for the John McCain campaign.
  • blackwolf · 1 year ago
Hopefully this works for Obama in the debates.
  • Rufus · 1 year ago
As Obama and Paris Hilton might say, "see you at the debates, bitches." Oh, and no town hall debates as it's an ambush -- the Repubs will have people planted in the audience asking Obama loaded questions. Stay with "see you at the debates, bitches."
  • kirkaracha · 1 year ago
Rove knows that the best strategy is to make sure people think Obama is elitist and remind them he also has an arabic middle name.

How is someone named John Sidney McCain III claiming someone else is elitist?
  • Dave of the Jungle · 1 year ago
How else can they cover up the worsening cognitive dysfunction?

Look for Bugs Bunny vs Elmer Fudd at the debates.

I'm putting my money on Bugs.
