AMERICAblog: McCain impressed by Palin's courageous work at the PTA

  • Hannah · 1 year ago
Keep on pushing it: McCain has neither the judgment nor the temperament to be President.

And Palin is flat out NOT QUALIFIED.
  • BRob · 1 year ago
Can someone please check the minutes of the PTA after "Reformer" Palin began her participation.. Were her reforms to introduce creationism into her school, or to block any suggestionn in a science class that global warming might be partially attributable to human conduct, or to block any sex education which might include family planning or the dignity of a glbt student, or block any reference to the damage done by the Exon-Valdez spill, or to the loss of any species like polar bears? If these were her reforms, the public needs to know.
  • MommaKat · 1 year ago
my sil's sending me a link to a story about her asking the librarian if she was okay with cencorship and book banning. How's that for reform?!?
  • BRob · 1 year ago
Thank you, MommaKat. I hope you can get this kind of information to Americablog and to Obama's campaign. I'm wondering whether your info is just a piece of the big picture.

I guess now we know Palin's theme song:

Ok I'm going to put it on the table: how does a mother of five, including an infant, have the capacity to be governor, much less vice president? The short lived career of Jane Smith in Massachusetts proves it's not possible. This woman could be president? Who is going to stay up with a colicky baby? Or is she abandoning her children. Please, some information about her child care arrangements. This was my major concern about Edwards: he was running to be president when in all likelihood he would be single-parenting two young children in the White House. I'm sorry; it can't be done.
  • BLOGGING BITCH! · 1 year ago
It's the Daughter's baby....she can take care of it!
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
    Don't go there.

There's enough stuff to hit her on regarding her (lack of) professional career and accomplishments.

Are you some Repub trying to rile the Hillary people again?
  • BLOGGING BITCH! · 1 year ago
I agree with McCain. The troops are going to be there forever anyways.

    ................yes, that's snark
  • notanumber · 1 year ago
Sarah Palin is not Jeannie C Riley. This is how you take on the PTA!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kn4-2qMErgM

Plus, Jeannie C Riley would be a great VPILF!
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
And she was a high school point guard too!
  • BLOGGING BITCH! · 1 year ago
Her husband races snow machines. That has to count for something.
  • BLOGGING BITCH! · 1 year ago
McCain said we'll get to like her once we get to know her as well as he has.

She hugged him like he smells kind of old.
  • BorninUSA · 1 year ago
He's only talked to her a couple of times! And one time was on the phone.
  • moreleesafer · 1 year ago
    His phone is rotary
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
But she did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

(Warning: I'll be using that line until the election, so get used to it.)

    That's PERFECT!

Get that one to John Stewart!

My first thought of Palin was Dan Quail but people are right, Dan Quail won. I fear that some people in this country are so stupid they'll be excited by her and vote for her because she looks and sounds like a cheerleader. In CA we are completely insulated from this process because we'll go for Obama overwhelmingly. It's the middle of the country that scares me and she is aimed right at them, the low information voters the Clinton campaign talked about and won. Hillary really needs to get out and say why Palin isn't good for her voters and Obama's campaign needs to come out more certain and direct than they have so far. She's had a free ride for 24 hours and the right wing is thrilled. We need to turn up the pressure. How about pointing out that she was mayor of a tiny city when Obama was dealing with the issue of lose nukes with Dick Lugar. The right are arguing that Palin is as experienced as Obama. We know that's wrong but people will believe it if no alternative information is put before them. Is it out there in other areas of the country where I'm not seeing it? We have no local advertising here. Turn up the pressure and get the facts out loudly. Keep the energy going all the way from Denver to November!

LOL Can't help it, that topic headline just makes me laugh. "Courageous work with the PTA"
  • Webster · 1 year ago
Not to mention that Palin has a voice that would peel wallpaper. About two minutes into listening to her "acceptance," the cats were under the bed--and I wanted to join them.

My nerves were jangled when I here say 18 million crAAAAACKS! Talk about chalk board effect!
  • BLOGGING BITCH! · 1 year ago
She was trying to be Norma Rae. It was an obvious attempt. Since when do Republicans give a fuck about the Unions?
  • 2008 · 1 year ago
She's a prop, a mere pawn that will work to get ANWR
(the Artic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska) revoked
    and destroyed for Big Oil.

    There you have it.

AS IF THEY HAVEN'T RIPPED US OFF ENOUGH!

She was pregnant and not even showing at 9 months. Then she was back to work in 3 days.
  • MommaKat · 1 year ago
I know I've posted along this line before, but that's simply NOT possible with a down's baby:

"The mother and father of a newborn with Down syndrome should be encouraged to take adequate family leave before returning to work outside the home. The most intense bonding between parents and infant occurs in the first few weeks after birth. Bonding time may be especially important for the family of an infant with Down syndrome. Over this period, the new parents can become comfortable providing for the special needs of their child, and they can also begin to develop coping strategies for the future."

Down's babies require the following medical tests during the first weeks of life: Chromosomal karyotype, Hematocrit or complete blood count to rule out myeloproliferative disorders, Thyroid function tests, Echocardiogram, Auditory brainstem response or otoacoustic emission test to assess congenital sensorineural hearing at birth or by 3 months of age. Ophthalmologic evaluation if nystagmus or strabismus present... many Down's babies require immediate surgery to correct gastrointestinal and / or cardiac abnormalities.

But we're not talking about a normal down's baby - we're talking about a premature down's baby who was supposedly delivered at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center, which does not appear to have a neonatal intensive care unit. There's simply too much wrong with this story.

How can anyone believe that a mom as far to the religious right as Palin felt justified in delaying medical care after premature rupture of membranes in a highrisk, down's pregnancy. She says she learned of the diagnosis at 4 months - they should then have had a plan to avoid all travel from 7 months on, as well as a plan to airlife the baby to a highlevel NICU in the event of a premie birth. Someone simply did NOT think this story through before floating it out there!

Will McCain insist that she be paid as much as if she was a man?
  • katjam · 1 year ago
I guess the "special interests" she must have taken on while serving on the PTA were the science programs?

When I saw McCain with wife Cindy and running mate Sarah, all I could think was "There's Archie with Betty and Veronica"!
  • saquin · 1 year ago
Ok, someone with musical ability REALLY needs to make a parody song about Palin to the tune of "Harper Valley P.T.A."
  • vwcat · 1 year ago
I read this and was laughing until I realized this was true. This was not something made up but, McCain really said this. I both laughed and felt a chill.
We need obama/Biden in that White house
  • BLOGGING BITCH! · 1 year ago
"By selecting a working mother with a track record of getting things done, Senator McCain has once again demonstrated his commitment to reforming Washington," the US president said.

"What "reform" would the sitting President like to see the next President make, Ms. Perino"? How come he can't do it?
  • jules1721 · 1 year ago
I just read that Sarah Palin got her very first passport in 2007. I think we should be making more of this. It's just like George W being so incredibly uncurious about the world outside Texas. This woman has traveled outside the US for only one year and she could become the most important leader in the world??
  • Pame · 1 year ago
Here is my question about Palin.
Women are warned about their increased chance of having infants with DS (as well as a host of other abnormalities) after the age of 35 (the probability increasing with age) all the time. Most abnormalities can be discovered by tests. However, if you do not believe in abortion, choosing to become pergnant after the age of fourty is irresponsible, even reckless. And if the pergnancy was not a choice, does she also not believe in birth control?
Parents who long to have childeren of their own often take some chances, but she had four children already, so that can not be it. I'd like to know the circumstances surrounding this pergnancy.
  • BLOGGING BITCH! · 1 year ago
  • SarainKC · 1 year ago
I have heard the rumors that the baby may be her 16 yr old unwed daughter's but either way, to answer your question, NO, she does not believe in birth control. She is one of those crazy Holy Rollers. Seriously, screw her resume, her religious fanatisim needs to be front and center here. She is scary.
  • Pame · 1 year ago
    That's just it!
How crazy are we talking about?
And if it isn't her baby, then how dishonest are we talking about?
How come no one else is questioning her choice to have this baby?
Why is running for public office as a mom with an infant with disability is being shown as "courageous" as opposed to selfish or iresponsible?
I have family members with disabled children. One does not work at all with just one child and the other works with two children but always looks like she is about to lose it.

I liked this post about palin, its blunt and couldnt be more to the point about what the GOP must be thinking.

Okay, but was it as big a school district as the Harper Valley PTA? 'Cause my mom socked it to 'em and nobody made her Veep.
  • BorninUSA · 1 year ago
Just unbelievable! The republican talking heads are already repeating and repeating their scripted responses to mcshame's selection of palin. I can't believe they are even touting her being a basketball standout! She is a mother of five! She is a fighter for NRA, pro-life, oil and gas industry! And these make her well qualified to be president? If mcshame was 50 years old it wouldn't be quite so scary but we all know he isn't going to be around to finish a full term if elected. And palin would be thrown into the middle of something she knows absolutely nothing about......war, economy, foreign policy to name some of the important issues. Hopefully wiser people in the republican party will prevail and mcshame will soon be put out to pasture.

She helps the PTA balance their annual budget by making a big pan of Rice Krispie treats for their bake sale.

Soon, she'll be mavericky enough to add chocolate chips to her recipe and wipe out the entire national debt in a single afternoon.

So, this would meke her the Grandmother and Stepmother?

Mayor of a town of 6,000

Governor of a state with 670,000 people.

Vice President of a country with 300,000,000

That is what I call a natural progression.
  • Bostonian_Queer_in_Dallas · 1 year ago
The fucking PTA? Did he say the fucking PTA? Have you ever been to a PTA meeting? They sit around and argue for hours on end as to what color ribbon to use on the baggie that will hold the fabulous oatmeal cookies that Mrs. Soccermommy is making for the upcoming bake sale to raise funds for the new swing set.

Still practicing the song "O Canada" here....

I can help you with the lyrics both in English and French. By the way no posts about McCindy lately. what gives?

I've been busy the last two weeks so I haven't had time to blog Ms Thang's
    shit
  • lynchie · 1 year ago
But following the pecadillo's of Ms. Thang has been a highlight for me. Oh well.

I must admit this Palin thing confirms the senility of McCriminal. I also watched Cindy in the background when he introduced her. Ms. Cindy will rip her lungs out before the old guy can even find his pecker. Now he is surround by a couple of c**t's. His life as he knows it is over.
Johnny Mack though they said "pick someone to be your partner in the ERECTION".
Tonite he will have a couple of vodka and prune juices, better known at the nursing home as the "Pile Driver.

Interesting. I'm very active in the PTA locally, live only 25 miles from the National Office and have been to several national conventions of the PTA. The only reason I had heard of Palin was from a friend, met through the PTA ironically, from Alaska who mentioned the fact Palin had a new baby (this was last fall or so). What did she DO for the PTA? Or for public schools for that matter? Kind of reminds me of Bush's Secretary for Education, who had no experience as a teacher or administrator in education.
  • coulterfan · 1 year ago
I didn't realize that the PTA was so CORRUPTED by special interests! Did she BRAVELY refuse pot luck casseroles offered by the Lunch Lady Lobbyists?
