AMERICAblog: McCain is a campaign finance criminal. He can't be trusted. Obama should never make any campaign spending agreement with McCain. Ever.

i don't quite understand all the typing that's being done in the name of mccain. do you really think he has a chance of being elected? i don't. i don't think he has a hope in hell. and everyone keeps saying how terrible he will be. really? worse than the door knob currently residing the white house?

I'll repeat this again: MSNBC reports that many of his "town hall meetings" are given at corporate headquarters; today's is at a financial services company and the public is never invited. He can't raise money from individuals, so he's courting the "have mores"--no small donations for McBush.

They're also reporting that the Clintons are "clashing" over the Colombia trade deal; Bill having received $800,000 in speaking fees in support of it, and Hillary claiming to be against it, but, no problem. They survived Monica, of course, so anything is possible...wonder if Mark Penn got Bill those speaking engagements? After all, Bill claims he's always been for that particular trade agreement.

Whenever possible, Obama needs to ignore the media and their efforts for the Republican smear machine. Pandering to them only feeds them. The sooner we make the MSM irrelevant, the better our democracy will be.

    Simple:

Obama should not enter into a campaign financing system that McCain is violating.

    Hillary argues for Memphis:

In a move that’s sure to be seen as controversial, Hillary has contacted the NCAA Board of Directors to argue that Memphis is actually better qualified to be National Champion.

Ms. Clinton stated that Memphis, while losing the game, had actually shown more ability to act like a National Champion on Day One. She argued that Memphis had passed every test during the game, including scoring more points than Kansas for 38 minutes. For 38 minutes they had shown the experience necessary to be National Champion. “Just because some team comes along in the last minute and scores more points than the other guy doesn’t mean they’re necessarily able to be National Champion on Day One.”

umm... yeah... must be a rovian 'exploding head logic' trick of some sort.

run on a platform of lobbying/campaign finance reform... hire lobbyists to run your campaign, and break campaign finance laws.

    Curious.

Is McCain's wife rich enough to finance all or part of his election?

    Would she?

I guess she kept him out of jail during the Keating 5 Scandal because everything was in her name so, technically, he didn't violate ethics laws.

I'm expecting to see Cindi fork some cash over.

She bought him this far. She's not likely to stop now.

There's no "if" about America's decline. And some of us have been talking about it for years...Phillips is right, of course, but sometimes too timid.

    Thanks for the sites, Firebrand.

    Troop Morale

Petraeus says survey of U.S. troops in Iraq found that their morale is improving.

But then again, those who had already killed themselves rather than go on were not included in the poll

    The WaPo article states:

"an overall limit on spending of $54 million for the primary season, which lasts until the party's nominating convention in September."

McCain has reached that limit -- does this mean he can't spend ANY more money until September? I know he recently backed down on the claim that he could opt out of the Public Financing.

How is he going to try and get around this?

McCain is another fool who is incompetent that does not know Iraq one bit.

This annoys the hell out of me -- I'm as much of a Democrat as any (well, I will be when I become a citizen; thank you, inefficient DHS), but I just can't stand how unfair this process has been to McCain. Yeah, that's what I said. Nobody, including Republicans, should ever be in a position where they're locked into doing something because the governing board that might allow him to drop out is disabled. The travesty here is that right now, in election season, the FEC is quorum-less and unable to vote to allow him to opt out of public financing, which shows how fantastic a job Bush is doing at running the Executive Branch and its associated agencies. McCain is a victim of this ineptitude.

Though the part about using the money as collateral before attempting to opt out is, uh...

    Don't vote for McCain '08.

I TOTALLY agree with you on that. Thanks for saying it!

You forget a few things about old and senile McCain:

    1) He's a repulsive republican... He's exempt from the laws, didn't you know?
    2) He's got the backing of the gop and faux news... You can change the rules in the middle of the game since faux news will only report lies about it and the lemmings will never know about it.
    3) Since the FEC still has not done anything, old and senile mccain will see how long before they actually DO something (probably never)
