Falwell died May 15, 2007. We had a terrible Santa Ana wind and heatwave with 105 degree weather and the inevitable very, very severe wildfires in S. California. I take it that it got mighty hot in hell when Falwell went home. Praise the Lord for S. California that Falwell and Robertson did not both die at the same time.

    O.T.

According to Bachmann it's Chris Matthews fault

    Bachmann: Matthews brought up 'anti-American'

Appearing today on KMSP-TV, Channel 9....
"I did not suggest the word 'anti-American,' " she said.

    Senator McCain,

Is appealing to fringe weirdos who froth at the mouth and live in a bubble really a good campaign strategy?
  • Older_Wiser · 1 year ago
McBush is losing ALL credibility when he'd sell out to the low information voter who doesn't know the difference between Muslim and muslin.

And does he really think those trashy types at the Palin events don't really want to yell, "Show me your tits!"? They like the novelty act, but they really don't like women very much in positions of power.

Could this be why John McCain likes to be in second? So he can channel the fools for Christ?

    McCain's relatives supporting Obama

The McCain family has a proud tradition in the United States. They fought for integration of the south, resisted the Ku Klux Klan, led civil rights campaigns and left a lasting mark on the politics of Mississippi.

But, despite contradictory statements made by Sen. John McCain, that branch of his family was once owned as slaves by the candidate's ancestors

On Monday morning's CNN Newsroom, reporter Kyra Phillips talked with Wall Street Journal's Atlanta Bureau Chief Douglas Blackmon and Lillie McCain, a black relative of John McCain.

"We've had the pleasure of meeting Joe McCain," explained Lillie. "He attends the reunions at Teoc [Mississippi] ... I haven't had the pleasure of meeting Senator McCain."

The original article was much, much longer in the South Florida Times yesterday and can be found at:

thanks, that's a much better, in depth article... Interesting that McCain's determined to keep his family roots hidden...

This is just the beginning. Rick Davis hinting Rev Wright is the next issue. Anyone taking bets on when Palin then McCain starts in on the Rev. Wright issue? I say October 29th or even a tad later so that the defense by Obama will be limited.
  • Rab · 1 year ago
It won't matter, its been done already and people don't give a hoot about Rev. Wright.
  • shrrrr · 1 year ago
If they are going hit hard, they will introduce something new and outrageous. Expect outrageous or nothing at all.
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
I think it will matter BUT not in the way the McCain thinks it will. I seriously think if he uses Wright over the next two weeks if will put the final nail in his coffin. CNN had a poll saying the people believe McCain is very negative and they don't like it.

Greetings Aquarius! I was hoping to run into you sometime tonight, but no luck. In any event, per one of our late night discussions regarding how Colorado will end up supporting:

Supposedly, "they" say that the state is going to Obama! Funny thing, eh?

    The Rude Pundit nails it:
"Republicans Get Back to Their Roots:
When you've got nothing left, you finally get back to basics. Republicans have tried everything to slow the Obama/Democratic juggernaut this year. And nothing - discussions of tax policy, health care, national security (which has worked so very often), and more - has stuck. So what's left? Time to get old school on some motherfuckers. Time to bring out the arguments that Republicans (and the right wing in general) have used again and again to try to rip this fucking election out of its seemingly inevitable ending. And that means it's time to unleash the ancient demons to divide and conquer or, at the very least, just divide. For instance:

    Blackfacing Powell:
We finally know that, now that he's endorsed Barack Obama, Colin Powell is just another nigger to the right wing. Oh, fuck, conservatives couldn't get enough of Powell for so long, loving that he had all those medals and that woolly hair and was black (but not so black as to make others uncomfortable), and that they could even let him in the front door of the White House because they could trot him out to make any despicable cause seem honorable and just."

The Repubs really have to examine their platform. The Taliban-like religious right have taken over and sacrifices have to be made to them to be endorsed. If that isn't bad enough, the rest of the party worships the gods of big business, its CEOs. Hopefully, the Democrats will get a chance to right the ship this year and they'd better not blow it.

i really don't know what to make of this and I was conflicted about posting it. i'm not sure whose base they belong to.

i'm saddened by what i saw - some people, unlike falwell and robertson, deserve some mercy and an opportunity to be helped - part of me wants to send the american red cross or peace corp to their village.

looks like some folks stuck in a time warp in the Appalachians ... victims of poverty, community isolation, and a very broken education system.... looks like they'd be the perfect beneficiaries of a bit of "spreading the wealth"...
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
i think it's hilarious that McCain is having to be so blatant this time to attract the base...W. managed to hide it pretty well, but McCain is having to say all the dog whistle words out loud where they sound really really ugly...

    ugly ugly ugly
