    John,

She backed it, she tried to get it through earmarks and she kept the money.

Did you hear about her "Road to Nowhere" that she wanted a gob of money for?

  • BLOGGING BITCH! · 1 year ago
What was the item number for that jet on ebay? I hear she lied and lost money on the deal at that.
  • DeppFan · 1 year ago
I don't know the eBay item number, but I think I read the eBay auction had 1 winning bidder, the deal subsequently fell through, and the jet was sold after that to someone else. So she put it on eBay, but she didn't successfully sell it through eBay.
  • BLOGGING BITCH! · 1 year ago
Well, who would want a jet knowing that the Governor was allowing her under-aged daughter to have sex in it?
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
In a post down below someone posted the FACTS on that airplane. Cost 2.7 million and it didn't sell. It finally went to some auction company and sold for 2.1 million.

McCain said this morning in Cederburg WI "and she sold it for a profit"

Anyone want to discuss/debate his understanding of economics?
  • LeftCoastOracle · 1 year ago
McCain can't even subtract so how in hell could he possibly balance a budget? Oh that's right, he doesn't have to do it. he just has to say it. Pa dum bum.
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
You simply MUST watch the newest ad about McCain and all of his houses, it is HILARIOUS not to mention on target. Give it a watch:

    McCain – Palin: A future to nowhere…

    arrogant nationalism

    extreme militarism

    distorted patriotism

    religious fundamentalism

    greedy corporatism

    neglectful environmentalism

    cultural antagonism

    unjust economic classism

The core mindset of republicanism has truly evolved to embody the sinister, the negative, and the dark energies of humanity.

    I demand a better future....

Compare/contrast the qualifications of Palin and Obama:

    Palin: Mayor, Governor
Obama: Community "organizer" (LOL), do-nothing celebrity senator, black man
  • Steve_in_CNJ · 1 year ago
a glorious friday afternoon nearly ruined by a dimwit racist.
  • Gridlock · 1 year ago
Palin: fascist, anti-choice, creationist, lying, opportunist, bankrupter of small towns, governer of a state where everybody seems to hate her.

Her race is unimportant. The fact that you consider Obama's skin color to be a negative means you're a f#cking racist idiot.
  • McFly · 1 year ago
"Idiot," you say? Everyone in Alaska seems to hate Palin, you say? She has a 80-90% approval rating. Your demorat congress has the lowest approval in the entire history of the body, LMFAO. Also, I'm not saying that obama's blackitude is a bad thing; I think that it is entirely irrelevant. I'm saying that YOU people value his skin color.
  • dreadpiraterobert · 1 year ago
    Jesus: Community Organizer
    Pontius Pilate: Governor

Thomas Paine (founder of republicanism, father of the American revolution: Community Organizer
General Thomas Gage: Governor, appointed by King George

    Compare and contrast indeed.
  • McFly · 1 year ago
Well good thing that I'm not a huge jesus fan or else I might be swayed by your pedantic "argument." Jesus stood there and allowed himself to be crucified. He even carried is own cross. That's no role model at all. Also, Thomas Jefferson: GOVERNOR of Virginia. Eat it.
  • McFly · 1 year ago
    "Jesus: Community Organizer"

Wait a minute... Are you saying that Obama is the Son of God?

    AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHA!!!!
  • dreadpiraterobert · 1 year ago
The best part of the "Bridge to Nowhere" story, which I only heard on TDS last night (despite reading TPM, Kos, C&L, Americablog, and others daily) is that after the project was cancelled, she KEPT THE MONEY!
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
I read about that actually on one of the blogs and I think some folks mentioned that in an interview on TV, so it has been discussed.
  • Catman51 · 1 year ago
Adding it to my email signature. That'll make it stick.

  • ZennButtKicker (tlhwraith) · 1 year ago
Riiight. How's that "smaller government" thing working out for us now? Oh wait, isn't it Bush that actually created the largest budget deficit in history? Increased the size of most federal offices?

But you're right, us progressives are just a bunch of "marxists" who don't know anything. Better yet, why don't you just go all McCarthy on us and call us "pinko-leftie-commies" or something like that?
  • McFly · 1 year ago
I was just trying to be polite. I am happy to be more honest about what you people are if you don't mind...

Yeah, Bush screwed up plenty. He did increase the size of government...in the areas of defense and national security. His opponent would likely have done the same PLUS pissing away money on welfare parasites and other useless crap, unlike defense spending. Good try, though.

"He's a tough guy, Obama, [...] I looked at him eye to eye, he's not a wimp. He's not a wimpy guy."
    - Bill O'Reilly after his interview with Barack Obama.

This is possibly the most effective quote I have ever heard and I hope Obama makes t-shirts out of it. Either that, or its the sign of the coming apocalypse, it could go either way...
  • Rob Mule · 1 year ago
Whoa. Sounds like Bill-O's in the tank! Glug!
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
I think the second choice... it MUST be a sign of the apocalypse.

the next sign will be bill saying something positive about Keith Olberman... followed by a friendly story about a good time he had with Al Franken.

if they both happen on the same day, take sleeping pills... in the words of peggy noonan, 'its over'.
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
It really doesn't have anything to do with political ideology. Billow is like ALL mediawhores: if he gets his big ego stroked by any VIP or celebrity, he is happy. Obama is very, very smart to disarm Mr. "FUCK IT!!! WE'LL DO IT LIVE!" And it didn't take all that much. "I dare you to show up on my show!" Obama exposes this blowhard for what he is simply by showing up and being himself.
  • Steve_in_CNJ · 1 year ago
how often does o'reilly interact with a brilliant mind that is not being used for evil? he might not even know what hit him.
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
Nat Enquirer, Inside Edition, US Weekly, TMZ.com, OK!, People, Access Hollywood, The Globe. My prediction: Palin and the GOP don't yet realize what's about to hit them. This relentess monster WILL follow her and her family everywhere for the next 60 days. They will stake out her houses. They will try to outrun her in her car. They will pay sources for information. If she and the GOP think the Left-wing blogs and CNN are their problem, they are very naive.
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
Maybe she will call out the Alaskan National Guard for protection? Nah, that gun toting momma will just pull out her trusty six shooter.
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
Just to add: the Monster won't be able to get as close to her as they do to Britney and Lindsay because of the Secret Service, but they will still get uncomfortably close. And they have telephoto lenses. And legions of libel specialists. And deep pockets for sources. And they can ignore GOP "spin."

Plane costs 2.7 million Plane sold (not on ebay) 2.5 million

McCain in Cederburg WI 09/05/08 : " and she sold it for a profit"

Anyone want to dispute McCain's understanding of enconomics??
  • Rob Mule · 1 year ago

  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
Actually, I "think" the plane was finally sold to a private businessman for $2.1 million.
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
Whoops! I am sounding like McCain. You are right, it didn't sell at 2.5 million so it went to auction
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
still, even selling at 2.1 million... that's like, 7 pairs of cindy's earrings!! wow!!!!
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago

  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
    Aquarius,
YOU are right here and it merely proves that Palin and her City made even LESS money on the sale. Thus their lies about profit is made even LESS believable.

When will the press actually use the term LIES when associating itself with McCain and Palin???
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
LOL LOL Well, damn will you please post this??? Can I claim age????
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
When Palin listed it on eBay, the minimum selling price was $2.5 Million, but there were no bidders. So they took it to an aircraft broker who finally sold it for $2.1 million. So YOU are right, Palin and the City made even less of a profit on the plane!

Whats all the whining and crying about on cable news about $70 million damage in Baton Rouge, Louisiana? Uhhh, we were ALL talking about it but it was SUPPRESSED by the media because it wouldn't have looked so good for Republicans to continue their partying while Baton Rouge experienced that much damage. Not ONE PENNY from me to that Republican Governor Jindal or Bu$hco to go around bragging about what a great job they did protecting Louisiana from a category TWO storm versus Katrina's disastrous category FOUR PLUS storm. NEWS BLACKOUT on Baton Rouge but now they want us all to give, help and cry about how Louisiana didn't get Baton Rouge ready to handle a minor hurricane. I don't think so...
  • BLOGGING BITCH! · 1 year ago
Yeah. We'll see how they handle the East Coast. You notice that the hurricane that was supposed to cause the most damage had a Russian name?

    Hmmmm
  • lynchie · 1 year ago
I will give when they explain where all the money sent to the Red Cross and all the other groups collecting for Katrina spent the money. Speaking of which where is all the money for the Clinton/Bush Tsunami fund gone. Speaking of which remember Bill OReilly saying he will watch and find out about all the money collected for 9/11 was accounted for. I will give not one red cent to any of these groups collecting it never gets to the people in need. The Red Cross spent millions of their 9/11 money to build a new headquarters.. Crooks all of them.

Just for everyone's info there is some interesting information on the 9/11 donations and how they were spent.

    http://www.truthorfiction.com/rumors/d/donation...

    Summary of eRumor:
The message says that more than one billion dollars has been collected for the victims of the terrorist attacks on New York and Washington, D.C., but that only a fraction of it has gotten to the families. It also says that fifteen percent of the donations will be kept by the charities collecting them and that some have not distributed any money at all.
    bullet The Truth:
(2/7/02) The Wall Street Journal says that the Red Cross is offering financial help to well-to-do New York residents as a part of trying to make sure that all of the funds collected for 9/11 victims are used.

MSNBC has compiled a look at how the various funds are doing:

...SEPTEMBER 11th Fund (United Way of NYC and The New York Community Trust: Raised $337 million, has distributed $63 million.
...Twin Towers Fund (Mayor Giuliani’s fund): Raised $113 million, has distributed $47 million.
...Robin Hood Relief Fund (Concert of Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger and others): Raised $48 million, has distributed $13 million.
...Victim Compensation Fund of the U.S. Government: Money will go to the injured ad families of the deceased by early next year.
...SAFE HORIZON: More than $30 has been distributed to families.
...ASPCA Disaster Relief Fund: More than $1.3 million raised. More than 200 animals have been saved and 300 treated.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
bullet (11/12/01) As of this date, according to the publication "The Chronicle of Philanthropy," 1.1 billion dollars has been raised and $204 million has been distributed through 29 charities. The Chronicle says some charities feel that distributing the funds effectively should wait until they know what the scope of the donations is going to be. Others are involved in controversy over accountability and deciding on who should qualify for the funds and, if so, how much.

Interesting to see if the Republican convention raises money for Hurricane in New Orleans and how much the party keeps for itself. I don't trust any one when you have millions.

Look at the money Guilanni raised and how little was spent where is the rest. Did Kerick and Guilliani split it. Bastards.

    The Road-to-Nowhere

Palin lied to us in her speech just like she did within the first few sentences after her introduction to the country. There might not be a bridge-to-nowhere but there’s still a road-to-nowhere.

Why was the bridge canceled? Because Alaska couldn’t come up with their share of the cost. NOT because Palin was looking out for taxpayers. She didn't return the money to the taxpayers but kept it for other projects. She could do so because Congress changed the language of the earmark. Both her and McCain make it seem that the money was returned (If we want a bridge, we’ll build it ourselves.”)

However, there was an earmark for a road to be built leading to that bridge. The language of that earmark wasn't changed. The money had to either be used for the road or returned to the federal government. So the road to nowhere is under construction. The Gravina Island Highway, the first phase of the project, is currently underway, and Alaskans haven’t given up hope this bridge will be built.

    Check the Anchorage Daily News:

Palin touts stance on 'Bridge to Nowhere,' doesn't note flip-flop

Meanwhile, Weinstein noted, the state is continuing to build a road on Gravina Island to an empty beach where the bridge would have gone -- because federal money for the access road, unlike the bridge money, would have otherwise been returned to the federal government.
