AMERICAblog: McCain refuses to rule out appointing Phil "Nation of Whiners" Gramm as Treasury secretary

  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
Tucker Bounds seems to get his butt whipped no matter what network he appears on as a guest. He doesn't seem to be able to smoothly tell a whopper with the same conviction as some of the other McCain front people, like Nancy Pfoten??
  • grandma · 1 year ago
    Yep !
  • dad · 1 year ago
    solution: don't elect mcgramm.
  • SINGING_TROLL · 1 year ago
George McFly would be a much better pick.

Or maybe that monkey that used to pick stocks and beat the experts.
  • lilyannerose · 1 year ago
The timing of this collapse of Wall Street really stinks. It damned near feels like a final heist.
  • martha · 1 year ago
Yea, and in a few weeks will have the final "terrorist attack", also. Game, set, match.
  • interlude · 1 year ago
this IS the "terrorist attack" !

this admin started with a crisis and finishes with one
  • Aanya · 1 year ago
Does a terrorist attack trump a Financial collapse?
  • Indigo · 1 year ago
Tucker's cute. David Shuster shouldn't be so mean to him. Besides, the Wall Street Crisis will have been fixed before the inauguration. The bailout is already happening. It is a final heist, unless the Bush administration can find something else left to loot. What would that be? Oh, right! Social Security.
  • SINGING_TROLL · 1 year ago
    Pensions!

    gimmie all your lovin'
  • woodroad34 · 1 year ago
Phil Gramm's quote on Social Securty:

"Most people don't have the luxury of living to be 80 years old, so it's hard for me to feel sorry for them." - (in response to a statement that a Social Security proposal would hurt people over 80)[21]" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phil_Gramm

Yea - McCain's people are sleaze buckets- their spokeman and advisors - but we will all vote for McCain because he isn't black and he was a POW and Sarah is a hockey mom. Sadly, this really works for alot of Americans.
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
he is cute. especially when he's getting whipped.
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
    Is that code?
  • Dave of the Jungle · 1 year ago
Increasing the deficit is raising your taxes, regardless of when the cash actually flows.

Policies that made such bail outs necessary was raising your taxes.

    Hello!
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
We have to listen to that ignorant Sarah Palin running around screaming, "Biden says raising taxes is patriotic! Biden says raising taxes is patriotic!"

Man, her voice is annoying... and Republicans are just idiots to bindly follow that crap.
  • Wisconsin Liberal · 1 year ago
She reminds me of that bitch in high school you just wanted to slap, because she was that annoying.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
I agree. That nasal screeching voice of hers, and the constant cynicism is just SOOOooooo typically Republican!

Tina Fey had her down perfectly on SNL.
  • catdance · 1 year ago
That annoying voice of hers is probably why ol' Todd spends so much time up at the pipeline or out on the snow machine.
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
Why do you care? You're a "deadender"...
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
It isn't Republican to not reward someone like Phil Graham for his massive failures. Hell, Carly Fiorina will most definitely be in his cabinet. She screwed up royally by saying he couldn't run a Fortune 500 company, so she most definitely will be selected to run something REALLY important!
  • martha · 1 year ago
Exactly - We go into a war based on lies that killed thousands and makes us more unsafe, but we are supposed to reward these people for winning a battle here and there. Now, a group of people drive our economy into the ditch but we are supposed to trust them to take all our money for generations to come to get us out. What?
  • WindmillChasr · 1 year ago
Not only that John, did you notice that he says Gramm isn't advising the campaign.

    "He’s not advising this campaign."

Isn't there a source somewhere that refutes this??? Catch them in another lie.
  • woodroad34 · 1 year ago
Oh, yes, the scumbag lies once more. I had this same conversation with a friend of mine on September 15. I went to Wikipedia and typed in Phil Gramm. Notice the last paragraph of that entry:

"On July 18, 2008 Gramm stepped down from his position with the McCain campaign. However, he often accompanies McCain during the campaign, and continues to be an unofficial adviser on economic and financial matters.[17]"

Avedon Carol hits the nail on the head....we don't need to rescue these people from their financial mismanagement, we need to jail them for their crimes....

I keep trying to envision what I would do if I were God and could just, y'know, fix things. I mean, without changing all physical law or anything. Just redistribute a lot of wealth and say, 'What part of 'Thou shalt not steal' didn't you understand?" (Maybe I'd add a few words to remind people that it wasn't the abortionists and queers and uppity women who got Jesus so pissed off that he turned over tables in the temple, it was usurers.) And I'm still at a loss.

But I'd certainly take away all that money from all those people who have been getting rich by bleeding the rest of us dry. There shouldn't be any billionaires, dammit. There shouldn't be people sitting pretty whose "work" consists mainly of going for drinks or golf with other people who wear watches worth more than the average full-time worker's annual salary.

I'd physically move some people around, of course. I'd remove a lot of pot dealers and hookers from jails, for one thing, and replace them with a number of political operatives and "businessmen" whose names you already know, along with quite a few you never heard of, who are the architects of what we have seen. (I think their former residences would also make nice homes for all those people they kidnapped from New Orleans and put in toxic trailers - don't you?) And then I'd move all their money back to the ordinary humans whose misfortunes they engineered to make themselves rich (that'd be pretty much everyone else). In that event, you'd be amazed at how many "too big to fail" institutions could fail without it bothering the rest of us.

That little whore Tucker needs a good b!tch slappin'.
  • lsoderman · 1 year ago
Same playbook they've been using for the last 4 weeks. And very Rovian. Accuse the opposition of doing exactly what you do.

Meanwhile, Bounds is starting to remind me of Scott McClellan. He's repeating the lies and misinformation, but he seems to be less and less able to do it believably.

But again, they do it because it has worked in the past. Note the "Barack" blame that has been going on. Spew it enough times, and someone will believe it. They even admit it works:

TUCKER BOUNDS: I think it is inherently true. He stepped down from this campaign. He’s not advising this campaign. I mean, these are the sorts of absurdities that we’re talking about and it’s all because Barack Obama gets away with saying things that aren’t true and then people believe them to be some way based in fact. It’s absurd.

They deflect attention by blaming the other side for what they themselves do.

Astounding. PLEASE Obama people educate America on Phil Graham and how many say all this is his fault. PLEASE
  • Mickey7 · 1 year ago
Does this guy even resonate with their base? Why do they keep putting him out there? He's the absolute worst spokesperson I've ever seen. Maybe it's strategy? Sarah Palin looks like a genius in comparison or something?

How can anyone with half a brain, and that follows the campaigns regularly, even think about voting for McCain. Several weeks ago my reasons for not voting for McCain consisted of his voting record with Bush for the last 7 years. My reasons now are numerous but, summed up in a sentence is that he and everyone around him truly scares the hell out of me. I have never been afraid of an election before now.
  • martha · 1 year ago
Yea, I voted for Gore in 2000 but when the supreme court appointed Bush I was upset but not scared. Now I am REALLY scared.

When is the spoiled Baby Boomer generation going to retire so us young people can get a job? I now see old people doing jobs teenagers used to do, even in the mall and fast food. I will not buy a "cool" article of clothing from someone my moms age, sorry. Literally this generation is the most spoiled generation ever. They were in control when they were 15 and they still are. Lower your standard of living a notch and retire to FL. You can't do a good job anyway, your mental faculties are not what they used to, you make all kinds of mistakes. Also the college and high school requirements and rigor is twice what it was when you attended. There are no exceptions to this rule.

This includes you Phil Gram, get a life, your dumb and spoiled and never worked hard in your life.

Tucker Bounds is just about the most cowardly and snivelling public figures I have ever seen. But here he inadvertently brings up one good point through his waffling - there is almost NO WAY IN HELL Gramm would be confirmed by a Senate that will have 56-58 Dems. But hopefully this whole issue will be rendered moot by an Obama victory.
  • bluestockton · 1 year ago
Gramm would have to be confirmed by the Senate to become treasury secretary. Any chance that if McCain wins, the Senate Democrats will remember where they left their balls, and refuse to confirm him?
  • Aanya · 1 year ago
What General was it that said Feith was the F*&Kingest Stupid Person alive? Well after watching Tucker Bounds all over cable last week, Douglas Feith has lost his title! What a goon!
  • vwcat · 1 year ago
Only a fool would believe Gramm is not going to be Treasury sec. That is something we know as fact.
  • BillFromDover · 1 year ago
What the hell is it anyway... something in the water?
Why are all the Tuckers I know complete babbling morons?
  • catdance · 1 year ago
Imagine the hell of being Tucker Bounds.
He's either going to jump off a bridge or climb into a bottle before this is over.
If he's got at least a shred of self respect, that is.
