AMERICAblog: McCain said yesterday that he was unsure how many houses he has

  • therepguy · 1 year ago
Yesterday Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) called lobbyists "birds of prey"... we he should know all about those "birds of pray" there all around him and his fascist party!
  • therepguy · 1 year ago
I wish I could afford another one let alone god only knows how many!

A real testament to excessive wealth when one can't remember just how many house one own... besides that a pile of crap, I sure he knows the real number! It's not like he's a landlord or anything like that or is he?
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
oh he KNOWS how many houses he has and he just doesn't want to SAY! because he's embarrassed to act like such a mavericky, regular guy, calling Obama elitist, when HE's the rich, elite, out of touch, lame-ass liar.

good that the politico guys brought it up again...now let's spread it around.
  • 1billinnj2 · 1 year ago
he should be asked about the veterans sleeping under the bridges in the u.s. how many homes lost?
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
The Dems could do it without seeming too mean.

They'd just have a montage of the McCains and their staff guessing how many homes they have, then have a voiceover saying something like "how can these people know about the problems of working Americans......" (only saying it more artfully).

It can be done. The question is whether the Dems will do it.
  • mikeyDe · 1 year ago
Careful here. While I agree that the Democrats are once again losing the ball this quadrennial season, I don't think mocking rich and famous Republicans is a successful plan. Americans love the rich and famous, the dumber the better (Reagan, Bush, sports, music, and hollywood stars.) I know working-class Americans who own four or five cars, only one of which they drive more than a few times a year and have to build $40,000 pole barns in order to keep them out of the rain. Or, 'if I win the lottery or answer this get-rich-quick email that just reached my email box for the umpteenth time I too can afford to forget that ninth house I own in La Jolla.' Plus, most Americans still believe in Santa Claus: 'but, Daddy, if we move (i.e. base our votes and actual information and real programs that might help us even if some pain is involved) Santa won't find our house on Christmas day.' Come to think of it, America deserves another four-eight years of this crap.
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
ok. do an ad that says, why is McCain ashamed to be rich? we all love the rich and famous so why is McCain hiding his? drag him out somehow, make him own it.
  • flashcard · 1 year ago
According to RealtyTrac, one in every 464 US households received a foreclosure filing in July. McCain should be proud that he is married to a rich heiress who makes sure that his homes will never foreclosed.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
And McCain's economic advisor, Phil Gramm, played a huge role in the mortgage crisis.

His Gramm-Leach-Bliley bill repealed the depression-era Glass-Steagall bill, which kept commercial and investment banks separate.

I don't know why the Dems don't go after that too, except that Bill Clinton signed the damn thing.

Let's face it John Mack is a kept man. Cindy knows the answers to everything. She keeps the books straight, knows where the offshore money is, knows what is due from corporate america, knows what lobbyists owe a few favors. John is no better than the ball in a pin ball machine. He bounces from subject to subject, doesn't remember shit and has a good grasp of faking outrage when anyone tries to question his authenticity or accountability. That's right, John missed over 400 votes in Congress because he was a POW 40 years ago.

Just remember we still have this to look forward to at the GOP convention. Bushie trying to collect a few more bucks under his g-string.

The attack against McCain should come in threes:

    1) He's not one of us. He has 18 houses and thinks you need to make $5 million to be considered rich. This should be played at the top of the hour, every hour until November.

    2) He doesn't have the temperament to be president; he'll lead us straight into World War III.

    3) He's George Bush. He'll send every nickel to Iraq instead of back in your pocket where it should be.

    Simple. Direct. To the point.
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
i think an ad showing Daddy Dobson dissing McCain on adultery and the Keating 5 and his temper would be grand!

If they call that an attack ad, yeah well it's their own guy doing the attacking.
And for once in his life, Dobson got it right.
  • michaelt · 1 year ago
as if dem's would know what to do with this info. they don't. they're just as corrupt as republicans.

i am now officially hoping mccain wins the presidency and destroys what's left of this cancer ridden country.

before we can rebuild we have to tear it all down.

"then we can just have an independent group do it. Oh, that's right - you killed the independent groups."

    ----------------

John, I want to hear more about this. How did the DEM party kill the independent groups...

I hear the White House isn't all it's cracked up to be anyway.

    This made me laugh.
The "look" of our national places has long been a concern but, in my opinion, this stylistic appearance has, like so much else, reached critical mass during the Decider's 8-year failure.
The White House when viewed as a backdrop for speeches and pressers has a high-traffic motel room feel...plastic on the floor, mantles overrun with that looks like kudzu and lamps that appear bolted to tables empty of knick or knack.
Also, two or three weeks ago Bush spoke from a White House portico and I was shocked to observe broken and damaged floor tiles under the Decider's little feet.
And all this without even getting to the original impetus for the national stage set decorative bug up my ass...I have a real fondness for American pottery and I know the Smithsonian has many examples but the only ceramic art I ever notice at the White House or the Capitol are Asian and European porcelains...Maybe too refined a point for boors who can't even repair historic flooring.

Why can't MoveOn and other independent groups run ads anyway? What, have they signed a contract with Obama promising to sit on the sidelines?
  • LeeBurl · 1 year ago
What we need is a "In your gut, you know he's a nut" type ad. It did in the last Sen from AZ who ran for President and it'll work on the present Sen from AZ. There's enough sourced comments about his temper and their fear of him being near the button. That's the meme, the seed of doubt that has be spread.

Cerebral arguments will not work. The ads must play on an emotional an guttural level. Take that maverick image and turn it into a loose cannon image. Take his answers on the forum last Saturday and juxtaposition his past statements, to show that he his snappy answers was nothing more than pandering to the base. Take his statements on how quickly Iraq would be won and openly and directly question his judgement.

It needs to be done in concerted fashion. Each ad should build on the previous one. Draw in the viewer. The attack ads that the Obama camp run are the typical take the opponent's record and play up the negatives. It's a nice start, but it's not entertaining nor does it speak at the gut level.

wow. this is all about McPimp's affair on Carol, it's on CNN and it is bad.
McCain will never say anything except he takes full responsibility. He just laughs as if to say...you know how it is, man!

It even shows poor Carol McCain limping out to the mailbox to check for letters from her asshole husband.

all the anchors on cable news are multi millionaires so McCain's lifestyle is normal to them
  • keljowilcox · 1 year ago
Interview 25 - 30 people in the street and ask them how many houses they have.
Show rapid clips of those people laughing and saying "One". Along with some other
off the cuff comments. Then put the mccain statement at the end. The ad writes itself.
  • LLDEM · 1 year ago
NOTE TO DEMOCRATS: This is manna from heaven. Run a freaking ad about this, non-stop. Unless of course you think it's too mean and you just can't touch it, then we can just have an independent group do it. Oh, that's right - you killed the independent groups. Never mind. I hear the White House isn't all it's cracked up to be anyway.

Hey guys, (and girls) Two new anti MCGOO ads out yesterday playing local and hitting hard on Abramhoff and Nuclear waste. Check it out. The sleeping giant is stirring.

John Sidney McCain III, the senior senator from Arizona, can't remember how many houses he owns.

The democrats still haven't learned that to win a national election you have to attack. Being nice does not get them anyplace. How can we lose another election to the currpot and incompetent republicans? Just put a democrat against them. What a waste of all that talent!
  • percol8r · 1 year ago
The stronger ad might not be the absurdity of the matter at hand -- that McCain doesn't know how many houses he has. It might be that the "Straight Talk Express" is turning into more of a spurt and sputter. It would be hard to imagine McCain doesn't know how many residences he inhabits. More likely, he knows but isn't sure how the truth will play -- so he waffles, refuses to answer until he can discuss the matter with his staff. Even on this most mundane of topics, he isn't confident he won't utter another gaffe -- so he feels the need to have his campaign craft a palatable response.

It certainly goes against the fantasy that he's decisive, that he's a straight talker, that he's an independent leader -- a maverick.

(And let's be clear -- John McCain hasn't refused to talk openly and spontaneously with reporters these days because he petulantly feels as though they aren't doing their jobs responsibly, as he tries to insinuate. Rather, it's because he can't overcome foot-in-mouth disease and does his campaign more harm than good when he speaks off-the-cuff.)

I'd love to see an ad that montages all McCain's safe and measured responses to even the most basic questions:

"I'll get back to you on that...."

    "I think...."

"I'll have my staff get back to you on that..."

    "They'll get back to you...."

The ad should ask: "If John McCain can't answer questions such as these, how will he make quick, bold decisions as president?" The closer? John McCain saying, "I'll have my staff get back to you on that."

Since McCain is unsure of how many houses he has, he shouldn't add the White House to his list. Let him, first, figure out where they all are, and second, STAY IN ONE OF THEM.
  • Forty2 · 1 year ago
You're missing the larger point that McSame is so out of touch with Americans that his answer to the question WASN'T "one" (or even "none, I rent").

Mr. McGoo is McCain. The car salesmen are lobbyists.

    he even LOOKS like McGOO

McCain is not only confused as to how many houses he owns, he is also Confused on Foreign Affairs! For example, The Below link exposes and reveals John McCain's really bad lack of knowledge regarding foreign affairs -- supposedly his strong point!

    http://www.independent.co.uk/opinion/commentato...

It is unfoturnate that we have to get the truth from other countries rather than our Republican-owned main stream media -- which is a derelict of duty to the American public. They failed us after 911 and they are still failing us now. Thank God we have the Internet and Blogs wherein we can find the truth.
