Is it too late to bill Grampa McSame for the damage he caused to the USS Forrestal?

McCain says he knows how to win a war..
why wont anyone point out that the only war he fought in.. we lost.

Ben, better question: Is it to late for the GOP to choose a new nominee??? That's what I'd be asking if I were - shudder the thought - a Republican.

By that line of reasoning. those tortured souls ,now in Gitmo, should be great world leaders when they get out.

McCain can have him add the word "bootlicker" in that speech, because its what he does best.

Busboy, did you watch that NOVA special on PBS? You're a geologist, so I want your thougts about it. If you viewed it. Might not, have.

Well, I'm here drinking some beers with Twang. A little salt lemon and lime flavor on top of the can. I'm trying to figure out how to cook some panocha with something. I'm not too much into sweets. But maybe banana and cane sugar peanut butter sandwiches.

Didn't see it. Studied the area at one time. Wasn't there a huge impoundment of water that broke loose and carved out the scablands in Washington State?

Damn sure did.

Any truth to the rumor mcshame was not an MIA b/c of his dad's connections?
lark83
Not because of his dad's connections, but because who his dad was. North Vietnam often did not tell the world who they held captive - they wanted to twist the knife a little bit. But because McCain's dad was the Admiral in charge of the Pacific theatre, the Vietnames bragged about shooting him down. That let McCain's family know he was alive.
I served with a guy who was a POW for about as long as McCain was. For 2 years he was listed as "missing, probably killed", and thats what his family was told. POW Seaman Douglas Hegdal was released early and he brought back nearly 300 POW names that he memorized. Only then did his family know that he had lived and been taken prisoner.

If McCain wins this election it will prove that there is a "GOD". And, that he doesn't like progressives. If Obama wins? It'll just prove that Americans are tired of the old "6&7)...
Busboy

Sounds like Obama is getting a reception in Europe that dwarfs even JFK's reception.

Someone at one of his townhall meetings should ask McCain "Why don't you pass the time with a game of Solitaire?" and see if he goes into Manchurian Candidate mode.

I slept for, like, 24 hours and woke up hungray. So I made some fresh bread that's rising and cooking some beans. Some pork ribs smoking outside. So doing alright here.

I hope McSame can borrow Dubya's strategically-bulging flight suit and 'Mission Accomplished' banner for the convention, before they're shipped to the new lie-bury.

O/T DNC avoids paying gasoline tax in Denver. What a bunch of chintzy losers...
yeah, bitchy and whiny... is that all he's got? i was a POW dammit, you owe me?
i think his speech writers would have more success with: McCain is white. The GOP is white. We need another white man in the White House.

You a person of color, tls?

not in this incarnation, busboy. why?
Busboy

Doesn't matter to me one way or the other, just wondered why you would think being white mattered to anyone in the GOP. Hillary played the race card, not McCain (yet?)
tlsintx

aw, you're cute when you act all naive... i'm fairly certain being white does matter a great deal to quite a large faction of the GOP.
how bout this: At the Texas state Republican Convention recently, there was a button for sale which read:
"If Obama is elected President, will it still be called the White House?"
and btw, if i were a person of color, would that explain why i think being white matters to anyone in the GOP?

Off topic but friggin classic British from the BBC: A campaigner against Heathrow Airport's third runway has attempted to glue himself to Gordon Brown at a Downing Street reception. Dan Glass, a member of Plane Stupid, was about to receive an award from the prime minister when he stuck out his superglued hand and touched his sleeve. Plane Stupid says Mr Glass, from north London, then "glued his hand" to Mr Brown's jacket as he shook his hand. But Downing Street said there had been "no stickiness of any significance". (he wasn't carted off, tortured diappeared, or put on a terorist watch list, just taken in good fun and walked off)
2.Since Kerry's bringing up his service in Vietnam was an excuse for the Swift Boat liars to smear him, doesn't McCain's bringing up his experience as a POW make bringing up his Vietcong propaganda statement fair game? McCain wasn't a Vietcong collaborator; he was tortured until he broke, like anyone would, but he should have to explain, ""I am a black criminal and I have performed the deeds of an air pirate."

But, but.... Torture doesn't work! Yet it worked on McCain. Maybe that's where he learned to be a weasel.....

Kind of odd, but I read most of the stuff they're using at Gitmo came from the Chinese, and they used it to get FALSE confessions out of people, not the truth.
They basically wanted to get them to admit to whatever they needed for propaganda purposes, so they did water boarding and all the rest.
Busboy
Only thing is, nothing they ever said was made public by the government or used as propaganda.

Sorry, but this piece reminds me of a vulture deciding whether to eat the dead cow or dead deer.
I think I read today that Novak thinks he's been had.
there was no announcement planned, but they wanted to float it out there to try to take attention away from Obama.
Guess we'll know by the end of the week whether it was a scam or not.

After hearing of McCain's most recent gaffe (confusing the sequence of Sunni awakening vs. surge), in addition to all the recent mistakes and lack of econ knowledge, I don't see how this man has ANY credibility.
Am I missing something???

Not only is it bitchy, I think he is going to that well once too often. He needs something new to interest and excite the voters. Otherwise he will lose and big time. Not that I am sorry.
Bush_Bites

Yeah, I'm actually hoping they keep beating it to death.
It loses it's effect the more you hear it and he's already starting to sound like someone's grandfather going on and on and on about his time in the war.

I can see John McCain starring in Stripes. John Winger: We're soldiers, but we're American soldiers! We've been kicking ass for 200 years! We're 10-and-1!

They'd better hope the Crazy Old Coot gets the chronology right.
In an interview with CBS News' Katie Couric tonight, John McCain made the false assertion that the Surge brought about the so-called Anbar Awakening. Except, as MSNBC"s Keith Olbermann points out, the Surge was announced after the Awakening.
Hee hee. We always knew he'd never stay there as the political necessity would disappear. From video smuggled out of a private fundraiser:
Then, making light of the foreclosure crisis, he said: "And then we got a housing issue... not in Houston, and evidently not in Dallas, because Laura's over there trying to buy a house. [great laughter] I like Crawford but unfortunately after eight years of sacrifice, I am apparently no longer the decision maker."
How cute. He thought he was the decision maker when it was really Karl Rove who told him to get that campaign prop in Crawford.
I guess it's pretty hard to pretend to be Reagan when you're afraid of horses.

I've noticed they don't show him speaking in most of his ads now.
They just have still shots of him looking heroic and wise while the voiceover talks about how great he is.
Smart, I guess. That reedy old man voice doesn't do him any good.

Hilarious.
“Now Salter has one last chance to write a great convention speech for his boss. ..."
Hi, I'm John McCain. When it comes to giving speeches, I actually have other people do it for me because I am incompetent. But not as much as Bush, so don't worry. It doesn't matter that it's an important speech; what I think will be communicated clearly and effectively (relatively speaking, but it's still a stretch) by someone else. Communication is a skill that is not a qualification to be president, which is why Obama shouldn't be president. I, on the other hand, was shot down in a plane and therefore am qualified to be president, which Obama was not. Vote for em!
My friends, that was a typo, my friends. Someone put a typo in the glowing thing I look at that thinks for me, my friends. I'm not sure what it should be, because Em isn't running in this race. Who's Em, anyway? And he forgot to capitalize the E. My friends, I know English.
