AMERICAblog: McCain "welcomes" anti-gay ballot initiative to revoke marriage in CA

  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
I still want some enterprising journalist to push the alimony question. Why do his most recent tax returns seem to reveal such a small alimony payment to Carol?
  • Malcolm · 1 year ago
Agreed - someone should be on this. Perhaps there was a large lump sum payment at the beginning and the alimony is just for pocket change. A current photo of Carol to put next to one of Cindy would be nice too.

is there some kind of filter in disqus since I quoted McSame as calling his wife a trollop and a c.... but actually wrote it out?
Strange cause it's never happened to me before that "thanks for posting, waiting approval by moderator"
Oh well, that is an ugly word, I should have asterixed it.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
Oh, it's on now. McSame, you left your wife when she got crippled in a car wreck to marry a rich woman. Who are you to lecture about mariage?

Should be the new Freeway blogger's McSame's sign:

    McSame: Divorced disabled 1st. wife

If I may say offer a thought, throwing around the "C" word on this thread is a tough call. It's degrading to women -- period -- and, in my opinion, said to marginalize women. As a feminist, I wouldn't call ANY woman that word just as I don't use demeaning, marginilizing and degrading words to describe other individuals I disagree with. It appalls me that this is considered only a rude vulgarity. This woman view it as a slur.

Yeah, most of us are still in the world. That's why we support Obama.
  • FunMe · 1 year ago
McCain's definition of "marriage" - get a midlife crisis, dump the wife, get a new and younger one, call her a "bitch" - but, hehe, swim in her $$$riches.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
Made some bread last night instead of pizza. It rose and I baked it. It'll be good with the tomato sauce and pasta and okra.

What happens to those that marry between now and the November ballot initiative if the no-gay marriage iniative passes? I would imoagine that these marriages would be valid in California and should be recognized in all other states (even West Virginia and Oklahopma) under the full faith and credit clause. I think there will be a rush to marriage in the bnext frew months. I am going to set up shop as a preacher and offer volume discounts.
  • scottinsf · 1 year ago
The marriages will stand either way. Mark my word. Remember also that it is (or will be June 17th) legal for non-California residents to come here, get a marriage license and get married and then return to their home state legally married in California's eyes. That is the beauty and scope of this masterfully written Supreme Court ruling. It goes above and beyond Massachusetts.

McCain is a HUGE ASSHAT. Two times the elected CA congress passed this and then the ELECTED judges made it law. There was no "fiat.

    God he is horrible.
  • jcgraham77 · 1 year ago
Well, he is going to be good at solidifying the dems even after the past few months.

Does Grandpa not realize that had his wife not gone through with the surgery, he'd be married to a man himself?
  • OneManComotion · 1 year ago
But it is still against the Constitution of the United States to create a second class through any law voted upon by a majority. After the decision in Massachusetts, why is any of this up for debate. You can not make me a second class citizen thru "mob mentality".
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
    "tyranny of the majority"
  • tbhull · 1 year ago
The Massachusetts decision was a state law decision, for it it was spolely based on the US Constitution you can bet certiorari would have been granted in 24 hours so that jesus freak Roberts, Alito, Scalia and Thomas would overturn quicker than the decision of the Florida Suprem Court in 2000. The power of Bush would compel them.
  • Milli · 1 year ago
So he's not going to walk Ellen down the aisle?????
  • Butch1 · 1 year ago
What a "Catch-22" situation we have. The governor would not accept the vote of the Legislature twice on this issue and McBush thinks the other judicial branch is not qualified to make this decision either. When will these people realize that we should not be voting on the civil rights of others, period.

I hope Arnold stands by his word and vetos any public voting or ammendment suggesting discrimination to their constitution. This really smells.

I am sure all the Lesbian and Gay Hillary fanatics, of whom there are legions, will be happy to vote for McCain now, just to spite Obama.
  • jcgraham77 · 1 year ago
This one in particular has conceded although I am shocked at my friends--I saw it all as a good healthy primary and quite enjoyed it.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
And it's not really the majority. It's just a few of the minority who vote. Legislatures voted for equality but this fundie minority is there and are very vocal.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
ha ha Busboy hits on all the women here. John should have banned your lame ass a long time ago.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
Oh, and lest we forget, Busboy voted for the giggling murderer twice.
  • red_dwarf · 1 year ago
McCain is a political whore. He has no integrity, but then no one on the Right does.

Could you imagine "fearing" gay marriage? I can't. I can imagine what the future might be like 1,000 years from now, but I cannot imagine what it must be like to "fear" gay marriage.

    It must genetic.
  • queerunity · 1 year ago
what a deuchebag, yet on Ellen's show he says he wishes her happiness. How could he wish her happiness and no equality at the same time?

McSame is two faced. If there is anything he has demonstrated in the last 6 months it is that he is two faced. When I see his image it morphs into a Pig - everytime.

Mccain left his first wife but won't let gays get married for the first time. One standard for McCombover, another for everyone else. Hell hath no fury like a lobbyist puppet pandering to rapture bunnies
  • naschkatzehussein · 1 year ago
If he thinks he's going to use this as a wedge issue in the fall, I think he's mistaken. Most Californians accept the ruling, don't they. A reply to your comment specifically: I have been married for 43 years and feel I have more in common with gays and lesbians who want to enter into long lasting relationships than with other heterosexuals who are promiscuous.
  • jcgraham77 · 1 year ago
We should circulate the images of McCain and Ellen around via email--the extreme rightwingnuts will be so disgusted they will stay home.
  • therepguy · 1 year ago
And to think the ass hole want to carry California in the general election! Hell I through the he was a place holder for the party... once a fascist always a fascist!
  • kevinbgoode · 1 year ago
So McSame is basically saying that he welcomes changes to state constitutions which create special classes of privileged people based on their heterosexual status and which enshrines privileged treatment to supercede equal protection clauses in those constitutions.

And here he says he's not the McSame -as-Bush. . .bushit. He thinks constitutionsl were created to instill privileged treatment on the basis of a caste system created by elitists for their own personal gain. Of course he welcomes having heterosexuals assert tyranny over a protected class of fellow citizens - of course, if someone would propose a constitutional amendment defining marriage to exclude multiple marriages - or Republicans, who are a minority in California - he would suddenly scream that ALL the people shouldn't have a chance to practice tyranny over his minority.

These constitutional amendments have always been a scam to establish precedent to advocate tyranny. Since marriage is a highly individual contract and relationship, the "public" has little interest in regulating marriages of individuals, lest they be subjected to the same scrutiny. States that pass these travesties are now open to something the dominionists love dearly and was clearly displayed during the Terri Schiavo embarrassment - their advocacy of the government as an active participant in the marriage contract - with the power to arbitrarily dissolve the marriages of anyone they want at the will of outsiders.

So this is just another example of McSame's love of big government regulation of individual rights.

    John McSanctimonious-

    serial marriage for hets
    no marriage for gays
  • Blueflash · 1 year ago
Unimaginable if a gay man had done the same thing - leaving his crippled partner who had waited for him for years in order to marry into a gazzilionaire's fortune. Oh, the outrage! This just proves how little human feeling these craven homosexuals have!
  • Your_Uncle_Bastard · 1 year ago
Ouch. The dog whistle hurts my ears. "Judicial fiat" my ass. What a stupid, stupid, stupid heiress-fucker he is.

Kevinbgoode FTW!!! Please circulate that comment around as much as you can, it's such a neat and concise encapsulation of the "rights for me, not for thee" McCain-iac attitude.
  • hawkseye · 1 year ago
McSame is on the wrong side of issues, as usual. Schwarzenegger opposes the initiative and a recent Field poll shows it losing in California.
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
John McDivorced believes that the sanctity of marriage is based solely on the gender of the participants. Call him old fashioned...

I've often wondered why we haven't worked to get a "Biblical Marriage Only" amendment ready for ballots across the nation.
One marriage, absolutely no divorce for any reason, second marriages would be instantly null and void, mandatory co-habitation, that kind of thing.
Hell, just gathering signatures would be fun!
  • Blueflash · 1 year ago
That would be fun trying to get conservative hetrosexuals who proclaim the "sanctity" of marriage to sign up for a law that would make divorce more difficult. Wanna bet it would be like pulling teeth? Anyway, they tried convenant marriages in Oklahoma and Louisiana - the two conservative states where straight couples divorce one another more than in any others - in order to lower the divorce rate. Big surprise - they're were few takers and they've all but scapped it.
  • Matthew19 · 1 year ago
You should read the bible if you want to quote it!

There is an excaption: adultery (and death of course).

    http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Mat...

    Matthew 19:8-11 (The Message)

8-9Jesus said, "Moses provided for divorce as a concession to your hard heartedness, but it is not part of God's original plan. I'm holding you to the original plan, and holding you liable for adultery if you divorce your faithful wife and then marry someone else. I make an exception in cases where the spouse has committed adultery."

10Jesus' disciples objected, "If those are the terms of marriage, we're stuck. Why get married?"

11-12But Jesus said, "Not everyone is mature enough to live a married life. It requires a certain aptitude and grace. Marriage isn't for everyone. Some, from birth seemingly, never give marriage a thought. Others never get asked—or accepted. And some decide not to get married for kingdom reasons. But if you're capable of growing into the largeness of marriage, do it."
  • Blueflash · 1 year ago
McCain is a pathetic creature who has never really given a damn about civil rights issues. He shifts in the wind depending on where he sees his momentary advantage. The confederate flag, the Martin Luther King holiday same-sex marriage , same-sex civil unions, even whether to support a federal law banning discrimination based on sexual orientation - where does McCain stand? Depends on what year it is.
  • Bostonian_Queer_in_Dallas · 1 year ago
I was wondering just how long it would take for McStain to throw the fags under the bus. Good luck with this issue, white trash bible thumpers. The polls are telling us it's no longer going to work.
  • SociologistTina · 1 year ago
Outrageous. I live in CA. Thanks for the heads up.

Someone ought slap McCain on the back of the head and tell him "Gas is over $4/gallon you putz!"
  • AdmNaismith · 1 year ago
If McCain like the Amendment initiative so much, why don't we all vote on his 2ND marriage, and whether or not he should have been allowed a divorce.
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
If this is McCain's first crack out of the box? Then, please excuse my french, "he's fucked". Why start a campaign by pissing off people who are already pissed and don't want to be reminded?
  • scottinsf · 1 year ago
The California Supreme Court just announced that they will not intervene in gay marriages. They have rejected any and all petitions for a stay prior to the general election in November.

Does anybody in or around San Francisco know the status of Carole Migden's delegate vote? If she hasn't come out for Obama yet she needs to piss or get off the pot. I hope she's not being a sore loser over her loss in the primary yesterday.
