AMERICAblog: McCain, who missed critical vote on GI bill that he and Bush oppose, attacked Obama, who supports the troops and did vote

  • LeeBurl · 1 year ago
It's very telling that this suppose "maverick" is not present in the Senate to cast a no vote if he feels so strongly about this issue.

He's just pissed because Obama had the audacity to call him out on it.

Get ready McCain, Obama's not going to cut you the same slack as he did fo Sen. Clinton.

Basically McCain said "You cannot criticize me on military issues because I served and you didn't". McCain is already this angry and the election is so far away.

McCain never needed any of the things provided in the GI bill.

Since John McCain was born the elite son and grandson of Admirals, and especially since the already elite McCain married into Cindy's mega-fortune (after, of course, McCain ditched his own wife right after she was in an automobile accident) the very, very, very rich John McCain has never had to worry his empty little head about any of the things that most troops actually do have to worry about.
McCain is a man without honor who wouldn't even defend his own wife and daughter from the attacks that came from Bush and Rove.
That he would issue attacks without honor on Obama from his California fundraising is no surprise.

McSame/Bush have no concern for the troops. They just want to have plenty of cannon fodder for their future wars for oil and profit for their donors. If we allow our troops returning home to get a college education they may raise children who aren't poor enough to see the military as the only alternative to a life of crime.

McCain wants troops to be living under overpasses and on grates so the Rupert Murdoch, Richard Scaife and the Coors family can have a tax cut

Yep..McCain thinks he is 'special' because he served in the military....and anyone who hasn't served in the armed forces had better not disagree with him.

No surprise here: go back to the Feb 7, 06 letter from McCain to Obama (re: lobbying reform), which has the same contemptuous tone: young whippersnapper, how dare you criticize me? In the months ahead, we're going to hear all kinds of unconscious racism and overt condescension emanate from the foul mouth of Obama's elder Senate colleague.

To put McCain's (and his little buttboy Lindsey's) bill in perspective: vets who have served ONE tour of duty in Iraq/Afghanistan get the minimum educational benefits. That is, if you can focus on your community college English 101 course with your PTSD flashbacks and mysterious violent rages. You have to serve MULTIPLE tours of duty (more than 3 years) to get the "full ride" WW2 vets (who served no more than 4 years) got on the GI Bill after 1945. The McCain bill is premised on the concept of Cannon Fodder.

I wouldn't call grandpa McSimpson's response bitchy. I'd say its more of a 'hey you kids get off my damn lawn'', dress socks and shoes with plaid shorts, prune juice hasn't kicked in yet, it's nappy time response.

He grew up in New London, Conn.?? Isn't that an 'elitist' enclave?

John McCain has barely bothered to perform his senatorial duties at all for more than the last year. Do you seriously think he'd show up now? That would take effort and actually caring what the American people think. Of course, neither Obama nor Clinton showed up to vote on it either. Which is pathetic. Your current job should come before your campaign for what you hope to be your next job.
  • johnt66 · 1 year ago
Sorry LADawson, but Hillary and Obama show up for the vote.
    it's on tape.
  • LADawson · 1 year ago
Sorry, guess I was looking at the wrong information... but still, if you go through their voting record, they sure have a lot of "No Vote" notations next to many bills that they should have been voting on.
  • johnt66 · 1 year ago
No, I just wanted to have that corrected, since
I'm a vet, this one vote meant so much to me.

McCain has his money, so why should he care about the soldiers?
  • moreleesafer · 1 year ago
SO he's all testy because Obama did not serve in the military. well according to the rethuglican rhetoric...."There are many ways to serve you country." Didn't Romney say his boys were serving their country by getting him elected? And what about those big 'ol Huckabee boys? And Bush, and Rush (I have a boil on my a$$ so I can't go into the army) Limbaugh and Bill O'Reilly. I don't think he served either.
    McCoward needs to shut up.
