I do believe that Daddy Warbucks made his own money and didn't marry a rich blonde. McCain is more akin to American Gigolo.

Why didn't they put out an ad about Budweiser?
I'll drop the rant. But I'll be surprised if Obama's general campaign is anything more than another wienie effort from the dems.

I know how you feel but we can't let McCain win. It would be a disaster.

Does Obama have anyone on staff that just looks at Progressive Web Site? Jesus Peezas....I'm amazed at all the wonderful ideas that I see on your site and other sites.
Just about anything Jed Report does is brilliant.

... and military Hummers have self-inflating tires anyway.
slightly OT... humor, something we can all look forward to getting back. Once Obama is in the WH and we can enjoy being American again. someone sent me this joke... This'll be me next year:
One sunny day in 2009 an old man approached the White House from across Pennsylvania Avenue, where he'd been sitting on a park bench.
He spoke to the U.S. Marine standing guard and said, "I would like to go in and meet with President Bush."
The Marine looked at the man and said, "Sir, Mr. Bush is no longer president and no longer resides here."
The old man said, "Okay" and walked away.
The following day, the same man approached the White House and said to the same Marine, "I would like to go in and meet with President Bush."
The Marine again told the man, "Sir, as I said yesterday, Mr. Bush is no longer president and no longer resides here."
The man thanked him and, again, just walked away.
The third day, the same man approached the White House and spoke to the very same U. S. Marine, saying "I would like to go in and meet with President Bush."
The Marine, somewhat agitated at this point, looked at the man and said, "Sir, this is the third day in a row you have been here asking to speak to Mr. Bush. I've told you already that Mr. Bush is no longer the president and no longer resides here. Don't you understand?"
The old man looked at the Marine and said, "Oh, I understand. I just love hearing it."
The Marine snapped to attention, saluted, and said, "See you tomorrow."

McCain is a senile old man. Putting him in the White House would be like putting an alcoholic cokehead draft-dodging moron in the.. oh wait, nevermind.

Excellent ideas. More is needed, though. I'm sick of watching the political talk shows that cut to Republican talking heads laughing their asses off while the person with the Democratic view is talking. The Obama campaign needs to call out the attack dogs to go onto these shows. Today, I saw Rudi Guiliani saying that Barack Obama doesn't have an energy plan! And the host, David Gregory, let him get away with that. The Democrats have to get on these shows....that's where people get their information.
And, by the way, I looked at senate.gov for the real story on the FISA bill. Democrats introduced several ammendments to remove wording that would give the telecom companies immunity and Barack Obama made sure he was there for every vote, but the Republicans were able to block every one of those ammendments. So, when the media was reporting that Obama was against it, but voted for it, that's not entirely true. We all knew the FISA bill would go through, but it was the Republicans in the Senate that made sure telecoms kept their immunity.

Well the Obama camp needs to fight back with something. They should attack his voting record, his flip flopping all over the place, and hit him below the belt like they are Obama. McCain's negative ads are completely ridiculous, but I don't agree that they were a waste of money since they appear to be working. I don't know why the democrats like losing so much.

I know I already created one attack add myself to hit back with the tire gauge thing.
Good ad. Hope you get lots of hits. I'll certainly pass it around.
Plisko

Yes please pass it around. I have other adds in the works. If this one does OK I have plans to release several more including one that is nearly done that re-examines his military credentials.
WhoAmI
I already sent it to a few people to pass around. You should do one, too, that points out that McCain seems to think that Obama is a celebrity, but, in reality, it's McCain who lives like one....several houses, $520 shoes, etc. Obama may be a celebrity because people are attracted to his message, but McCain lives the life of one.

What about footage...if you can find it...of the gas lines of the 1970's? "Does anybody remember the "oil crisis" of the 70's? Prices went up. Gas was rationed. Lines at the gas pumps stretched for blocks because we were 'running out of oil'. The government came up with a plan to increase gas mileage on cars and develop new sources of energy. Suddenly, there was an abundance of oil and prices dropped, putting all those new 'renewable energy' companies out of business. John McCain is committed to continuing our dependence on oil. Drilling in the US won't give us an extra drop of oil for years. Barack Obama is committed to breaking our dependence on the oil that is polluting our environment and choking our economy."
Something like that.

One has to wonder if some worm in the Democratic campaign is sabotaging Barak. How else can you explain the overarching ineptitude of the campaign these people are running. It is amazing that we let the opposition make off shore drilling the major issue. Is there anyone in the party with any political ability at all? This smells like Kerry/Dukakis all over again only worse.
mamazboy

I couldn't agree more. The whole "Obama's above it all" strategy is ridiculous. He should be slamming that crusty old bastard - hard. Driving home relentlessly the idea that McCain is just another Bush. The Obama "geniuses" are letting McCain get away with murder in defining issues and then having Obama have to react to them. Obama should NOT be reacting - he should be on the offensive, even if it means mussing up his suit. We cannot let McCain get in. If he does, we're all toast.
alfannaan
I have to respectfully disagree with you both - the same argument was made during the primary about why he wasn't attacking hillary. it's not time - yet - to hit like that.
mamazboy

Good point, alfannaan. I guess I just get worried that the Republican slime machine, enthusiastically aided by the corporate media, will somehow screw Obama (and us) out of this election.

"I can name that "reader" in...five posts!" "Name that reader!"" /snark
People have yet to see the vacuuous Reichwing Propaganda Machine on display in Minn., nor the Uncomfortably Embarrassing Moments for John McCain Live at the debates.
This election is already over in terms of seats, but the 50/50 split over 'Dear America Itself' will continue to fill much air-time. Enjoy the ride.

I think one reason they're not taking this tack is that it is, in essence, an attack on Cindy. And the result would be an attack on Michelle. I think they're afraid of that at this point. Michelle's perceived lack of patriotism (eyeroll) is something the GOP could exploit. By and large, Hillary had the good sense and decency not to go there, having been there herself. John W. McCain will have no such honor. And if they are effective, it could start changing the math electorally. But the GOP needs an opportunity to attack. Obama doesn't want to give them one.
This is where I think the decision to forgo 527s may have been a mistake. It would be great to see a set of independent "The Real McCain" ads that spelled out all of it in stark relief --bottom of his class, son of Admirals, left his disabled wife for a beer heiress, owns countless homes, private jets, eats French food and is, in fact, a bit of a fancy boy. But the message of "Same as Bush" seems to be the main one Obama is pushing. And maybe that's the right way to go because there's only on thing less popular in swing states than fancy boys: George W. Bush

Yeah, but my guess is Obama will let McCain off the hook again. McCain ate his words today and admintted that Obam was correct in saying we could save gas by inflating your tires correctly. So what's up with Obama? If I were him, I'd slam McCain at least once a day. Just tell the truth about the old fart.

Let's not forget that McCain wears Ferragamo shoes that cost appx $520.00 a pair. You're forbidden to come in contact w a gas pedal when wearing them.
I'll drop the rant. But I'll be surprised if Obama's general campaign is anything more than another wienie effort from the dems.
