AMERICAblog: McCain's buddies in the religious right say America won't survive if they lose anti-gay vote in California

  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
Can't we just give these born again freaks a state so they'll shut up?

"Here's Georgia. Take it and go fornicate with your relatives and pray to jeebus for forgiveness and fornicate again as often as you want. Just leave the rest of us the fuck alone."
  • Mickey7 · 1 year ago
I thnk they want South Carolina. We should have let SC secede when they first wanted to.

I really, really, really hope that this election marginalizes the hard core theocrats (not honestly religious and spiritual people) to the place they belong. In a cynical bid for votes, Republicans have given them too big a voice and they truly believe they are the "moral majority," instead of the narrow, mean-spirited minority they actually are. Time for them to figure out how unimportant their pronouncements and judgments actually are.

No Atlanta is too cool so don't give them Georgia. Give them Alabama. It's nothing but littered roads and junkyards. And toss in SC. We can live without their peaches. And give them Nebraska and Oklahoma. They're both hopeless.

Wyoming - give them Wyoming and North Dakota. Make them stay there.

They will pass that amendment as I don't see much evidence that the No on Prop 8 group is doing a damn thing. I have seen maybe one or two ads on TV but daily ads from the Yes religious freaks both on TV and the radio.

I have donated several times to them and have attempted to contact someone for an explanation to no avail, No response so far. Really makes you wonder.

The Yes on 8 ads have been very good at scaring people to action. I don't see much from the No on 8 ads. In fact, we had a local protests Saturday, and I have heard only one ad on the radio. The No on 8 people are not fighting.

Ugh, I just saw an ad reponding to the NO ON 8 saying, again that kids would be taught about gay marriage.

    More scare tactics!

I would recommend you write the head of the LA gay & lesbian center. I wrote her and she answered back.

    ljean@lagaycenter.org

For phone bank help email: moof@noonprop8.com
She will let you know the closest place to make calls.

    Other information they provided me:
"Thanks for your message! We just opened our office in East LA that will have bilingual phone banks targeted at likely Spanish-speaking voters, but the schedule has not been figured out yet. If you're interested in going to East LA, please contact Francesca at francesca@noonprop8.com.

All of our phone banks have a Spanish script, but a more limited language capacity (the training is in English and there are no targeted lists to likely Spanish-speaking voters). We do have 9 phone banks every week in the West LA/Santa Monica/Beverly Hills area that fall into this category. If you'd prefer this option, send an email to

    westlosangeles@noonprop8.com.

Ummmmm.... I want to kidnap that HOT piece of man meat Tony Perkins and drag him up to the Mohegan Sun and "gay marry" his yummy ass. Joe Lieberman (asshole-CT) says it's okay.

i do sometimes try to understand these freaks. when they talk about preachers and teachers being legally constrained to say nice things about us, the REAL fear is cultural contraints, not legal ones. and to that extent, they are right. white supremacists similarly were afraid of more than racial equality under the law -- there was also the tide of cultural judgment turning against them.

Perkins always looks as though he's undergoing an involuntary enema.

how unamerican can these people and their supporters be, to be against the rights of anyone regardless of who they are is completely the opposite of what our nation and constitution stand for. i realize the rw wingnuts don't see it that way but then again they are nothing more than hateful bigots on most issues that come up in america, and that is all they have to offer to the electorate because they have no interest in issues because issues mean you have to govern and the gop won't and can't govern, you must believe in govt as a vehicle to help its citizens and the cons not only don't believe in govt but more importantly they believe less in our citizens, because the average voter is just a means to an end, and that end only is important to the gop and its extreme followers and everyone else is just a spectator to the agenda war being waged.

I used to think Lindsay "I'm Queeny But Not a Queen". Graham should go ahead and come out of the closet. Now I'm not sure I'd welcome him. I mean, really - must our standards drop THAT low?

2 old queens voting againsts their own interests ... how republiCON of them!

When are these people going to realize that con-men like Perkins are just exploiting their culturally-taught "ick-factor" to line their pockets? How forever-dumb are these people going to be? How many times are these people going to be led down the garden path to be mugged?

Oscar Wilde was right: "I sometimes think that God in creating man somewhat overestimated his ability."

Funny.......England and Canada seem to have survived. Same goes for Spain and South Africa.
  • alpo83 · 1 year ago
There have been LOTS of No on 8 ads in the Bay Area... many more than Yes on 8.
  • northpine · 1 year ago
I think what Tony's really afraid of, is that if Prop 8 is defeated, the religious right won't survive. And maybe he's right. We have an opportunity to put a fork in their hatemongering. Let's do it now. If you can give a few bucks or phonebank for even an hour for NoOn8-- do it. Otherwise, we have to keep putting up with their bullshit.
  • paulbe · 1 year ago
It would be nice to see the likes of Tony Perkins and his kind vanish, taking with them their idiot, fraudulent religion.
  • orange_enfant · 1 year ago
Haven't there been quite a few jokers saying that America-as-we-know-it will end under Obama?
Yeah, it's the same sort of thing. Incredible claims that would completely discredit them if it turns out everything is, at worst, slightly worse (probably not... but possible, you know). Well, would if the people who listen to them had any sort of memory, critical thinking or common sense.

Their "Amerika" never eixsted outside the flights of fancy they generate with their hyperactive imaginations.
