It's a non-issue. It's a decision made by their CPA or Tax Attorneys. The longer you delay the tax payment, the less your state and local taxes will be in the year you decide to pay the back taxes. You can save thousands of dollars with the right strategy.

Uh, what difference does it make as long as she pays her fair share. She is always on the correct side of issues so I don't have a problem with her being rich. I just don't like rich HYPOCRITES. I don't like the McCains and their claim Obama is an elitist and they own so many houses they forgot the exact number and can't manage to pay taxes on them.

OT but possibly important: The Orlando Sentinel [Orlando, Florida] reports that 24 vehicles were vandilized late night Saturday with blue spray paint. The messages included "Obama smokes crack" and another reference to Obama using the n-word. A third slur against Obama was also reported. I used to save over a thousand dollars by paying property taxes every 2 years in this state. Who knows what the McCains are saving on properties worth 30 times more than mine?

I can understand how the McCains could be so rich that they don't know how many homes they own. But one of their accountants must know, or could at least look it up. So why can't the media ask one of the McCain accountants this question? Or maybe they could ask McCain this question: how many of your homes have you ever been to? This is still a US Senator that is not paying his property taxes, there is just no excuse for this, plus it is just annoying as hell when the rich cannot even be bothered to pay property taxes. . BTW property taxes can be paid on-line and McCain is aware of the Internet.

In my state you are A-OK if you pay your property taxes within 5 years. I don't know what the law is in California. It's a tax strategy thing. Excuse me, but if you don't live in the San Diego area, you have absolutely no clue as to how outrageous (low) these taxes are in the first place. I don't live NEAR ocean property, and am under Prop. 13 property tax rules and for 4 years of property tax I would owe $7,200. Now, if he has La Jolla ocean-front property and only owes as much as Newsweek is reporting, then I will tell you right now that there are going to be people in the San Diego area UP IN ARMS. There is something very, very fishy about this.
Oh, and $7,200 is a drop in the bucket compared to what McCain should have paid for his wife's corporate jet during his campaigning.
