AMERICAblog: McCain's housing gaffe doesn't matter because - are you ready? - he was a POW

  • Chris From Maine · 1 year ago
Another sign of senility.. the man literally does not know how many houses he owns.

thats the real story here, not that anyone will cover it.
  • Nigel Elliott · 1 year ago
The blogosphere is abuzz with McCain's new meme:
    a noun, verb and POW.

The POW card is already over its credit line.
  • devis1 · 1 year ago
    LOL :D
  • bob915 · 1 year ago
First it was Rudy whoring he sanctity of 9/11 with every inhalation

Now McCain whores the honor of all who have been bound against their will
  • SarainKC · 1 year ago
Can you imagine how laughable the RNC convention is going to be with Rudy 9/11 as the Key Note and McMoreWAR/POW as the headliner? LOL
  • bob915 · 1 year ago
Yea, all 14 of 'em will be rolling in the aisle
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
Et moi aussi, round about 4 hours ago on another thread... What monster would deny this hero, this noble "torture" victim his comforts in his old age?
  • bob915 · 1 year ago
KMLR, unfortuntely he has negated is own argument.................under the Bush/Cheney/Rove/Gonzo Description of Torture and all that it Includes, he wasn't tortured at all.................Nope; sleep deprivation, beating, refusal of med care, blindfolding, humilitation, none of that applies here. He has openly quoted that he agrees with the pleasantness of the Gitmo Resort of Happy Detainees.
Maybe he can house 'em in his fiftyeleven homes
  • lilybart · 1 year ago
Of course it makes sense. The beatings he took have made him forgetful and taken a toll on his mind. That is why he can't remember details like his policy positions, past votes on BC vs Viagra and how many houses he has.

    Was that what they meant?
  • WADem · 1 year ago
So, could the DNC craft an ad listing several things that Republicans think are OKIYAR, but bad if you're a Democrat (owning more than 1 home [they skewered Kerry for that]; keeping your tax returns private [they skewered Kerry's wife for that]; that's all that comes to mind but surely there are many, many more), and maybe note the Republicans who screamed the loudest--and see if they're being hypocritical now--and run it everywhere, to kind of sour voters on the Republican brand? Can the poli sci/PR types reading this weigh in about why this would or wouldn't work? I'm just curious.

Maybe the Reps will come back w/ an explanation of how it's OK to be a hypocrite if you're a former POW. :)
  • lynchie · 1 year ago
Mr. McCain, please get a grip on your insanity. It is spilling over. I guess that is the same reason he ran out on his first wife and kids--POW. I guess that is why he knows nothing about world geography--POW. I guees that is why he knows nothing about the economy--POW. I guess that is why he knows nothing about the oil industry and how long it takes to get oil to market--POW. I guess that is why he can';t remember what he said yesterday--POW. Since POW is accountable for everything he says, has said or done the only way for him to be President is if they put him back in the Hanoi Hilton and he can govern from there.
By the way Mr. Rogers a lot of people live in the same house their whole lives. I also suppose that this excuse will work for all the prisoners in our federal and state prisons who are incarcarated for more than 5-1/2 years. I shot that store clerk because I was in prison for 5-1/2 years. I stole that money cause i was in prison, i did everything cause I was in prison. Don't forget John this is your get out of jail card--I accepted lobbyist money cause I was a POW, I am a liar and a crook because i was a POW.
What a sad disgrace of a human being and just as disgraceful are the empty suits who surround him.

The AmericaBlog Kidz luff you! And was the Hawaii theme in honor of Obama? You exotic elitists, you!
  • hawkseye · 1 year ago
It just kind of happened by accident. Kay and I don't like corsages. They always stick you. Then I told sons-in-law they didn't have to wear ties, that a Hawaiian shirt would be fine. Then we decided the mayor and minister should have leis, too. It didn't work with minister's robe and stole, so we gave the extra to soloist who loved it.
This town will vote 70% for Barry, so they would have loved it, too, but we didn't think of it, darn!

Is McCain under the impression that he's running for martyr of the year? If he's that mentally compromised from his POW experience 35 years ago he should be checking into Walter Reed NOT the White House. If he becomes president and accidentally bombs - say - Russia, whats his staff going to say? Oh, he just did that because he had a mental lapse brought on by PTSD. Are they fucking serious?

Obama needs to respond directly to this Roger guy.
  • hawkseye · 1 year ago
    Well said.
  • hawkseye · 1 year ago
CNN says Obama will announce veep any time now.
  • jcgraham77 · 1 year ago
You can neutralize the POW thing by asking him why he helped seal all the records of other Vitenam POW's and testimony from other POW's such as the one below. This guys aricle is very insightful..not ugly, just honest. Don't know if it has been on here before.

Lets just remember that this hero is reluctant to talk about his time as a pow. He has never used it as an excuse. Only his people have.

I am looking forward to the fight, but deep down I don't think Obama is willing to get as deep into the sewer as it will take against these slimeballs. He needs surrogates to do that for him, and nobody seems to be stepping up.
  • Steve_in_CNJ · 1 year ago
let's just remember that there is no functional difference between John McCain and "his people". he hired them and they say what he authorizes them to say.
  • HereinDC · 1 year ago
Aides now say that when John McCain was a POW he had no shoes...that's why he now wears $520 metrosexual Ferragammo shoes.

wanna bet that one will come soon?

    NOUN VERB POW
    NOUN VERB POW
    NOUN VERBPOWNOUNVERBPOWNOUNVERBPOWNOUNVERBPOWNOUNVERBPOW
  • scottinsf · 1 year ago
Good. Let him keep bringing up the POW issue. Especially if that is his excuse for not being able to answer a simple question about how many homes he owns.

I am appalled that at a time when record numbers of Americans are having their ONLY home foreclosed on, this asshole won't even answer a simple question. Obama is right to attack him on this and bring attention to the non-answer this asshole gave.

Slam his self-entitled ass into the ground. I for one am sick of hearing his lame excuses but I think the public needs to hear more of his sniveling crap.
  • Jersey · 1 year ago
I don't give a flying f what Mccain's comeback is. I'm glad (and I think it needs to be said) that Obama finally gave his supporters something to get excited about again. We've gone for months with nothing to energize us, this attack has stirred it up again. We even may forget about his vote for FISA for a while.
  • LarryM · 1 year ago
On another subject, where are the Obama and blogger comments on the draft statement yesterday from McCain? When a lady said something like, "In order to chase Osama to the gates of hell, we will have to reinstate the draft." McCain then said, "I don't disagree with anything you said."

That sounds like an opening to wonder how reckless he is and ask how many wars is he planning?
  • bob915 · 1 year ago
I'm surprised they didn't do a chest bump, yell a Booyah, wrap themselvesin the Flag, and sprint to the nearest Post Office to start texting all the names of the 18 yr olds
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
"This is a guy who lived in one house for 5 and a half years -- in prison."

so? and your point is...what? he should be able to do and say and have whatever he wants? He should automatically pass go and become president by pure default? He walks on water now? Talk about "The One"...
  • Steve_in_CNJ · 1 year ago
funny post at DKos on this subject:

McCain Caught Cheating With 22 Year-Old ASU Intern: "This is a guy who didn't get laid at all for five and a half years -- in prison," spokesman Brian Rogers told the Washington Post.
  • nothingasitseems · 1 year ago
My god... We've got the Race Card, which is an extreme pain in the ass. Now we've got to deal with the POW card??? You've got to be kidding me. So are we to believe that if this idiot becomes POTUS and he continues to screw this country up the way the GOP has for the last 7+ years, he can just pull out the occasional "I was a prisoner of war," and everything will be forgiven? Fuck that. I've had enough of this douche. How the hell are the polls this close? I just don't get it anymore.
  • seohio · 1 year ago
Everytime he uses his POW status to justify anything, he slaps every single former POW this nation has ever had. Including an older gentleman in my little village who was captured by the Japanese during WWII!! McCain is becoming more despicable, and less funny.
  • rexkc · 1 year ago
And some of the veterans organizations will start calling him out about it, too.
  • houstonray · 1 year ago
You know, I hope he DOES keep using the POW thing, it will get old in 2 more months and then there will be like a million sound bites that can be put together into a great commercial...
  • bob915 · 1 year ago
It'll get old in 2 more minutes
  • naschkatzehussein · 1 year ago
Yeah, and the campaigning really goes into overdrive after Labor Day. We'll be hearing it constantly. I hope he does it too. It will show that that's all he has to say for himself.

There's a new anti-Obama ad playing in Ohio about Obama's connections with known domestic terrorists.
Hanitty played Obama's ad about the "houses" in full on his program today.
  • houstonray · 1 year ago
Do you know if the anti-Obama ad was an "I'm John McCain and I approved this message" or is this the 'swiftboating' starting??
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
It's the "swiftboating" starting. Hanitty played it. It was made by a political action committee, I believe.

    Obama's response:

What a difference a day makes...

UPDATE: Obama spokesman Tommy Vietor responds:

The fact that John McCain dispatched his paid consultant to launch this despicable ad from a so-called ‘independent’ committee shows how desperate he is to change the subject from his shocking disconnect with the economic struggles of the American people. He knows that Barack Obama has denounced the detestable crimes that Bill Ayers committed forty years ago.

Instead of invoking Paris, Britney and obscure sixties radicals, Senator McCain should take the day off at one of his seven homes to consider whether his support for outsourcing, tax breaks for companies who ship jobs overseas and continued spending of ten billion a month in Iraq is really putting ‘country first.’ To us, it sounds like just more of the same.

"My Friends", Obama has officially taken the gloves off. :)
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
Sounds like the "fun" has begun... Thanx for the update

I wonder what he might say if he were asked directly how he feels now that his treatment at the hands of the North Vietnamese is no longer considered to be 'torture' by the US?

This is great. Someone at Daily Kos has made an actual "get out of gaffes" card, like the "get out of jail" card in Monopoly. Oh, McCain's house comment has endless opportunities for parody. What a goldmine!

Can someone please get onto ther fact that McPain's record shows that he doesn't support the troops? That he votes to cut funding for Veterans, veterans hospitals, post-combat education opportunities, rehabilitation, etc., etc. Every time I hear 'POW' I think 'how convenient'. Every time I hear Obama say about McSame 'honour the service, not the politics', I think it's time to ask McPain why he doesn't honour and even more so defend his comrades-in-war, and those in later wars.
  • rexkc · 1 year ago
Wow... this house thing has been around for months, and no one on his staff told him what to say when someone asked that question. I guess they were too busy spreading the message about Obama and how he doesn't love America.
  • evan_la · 1 year ago
Let's not forget that this ding-dong only became a POW because he was a lousy pilot.

If it was John Kerry or any other Democrat....it WOULD matter.
