AMERICAblog: McCain's Las Vegas coverage dominated by his support for Yucca Mountain

  • Sage24 · 1 year ago
It seems McCain just cannot get it right. I hope Obama keeps his momentum going, and that he will be able to fight successfully against the swiftboating that is sure to come soon.

I just returned from a trip to Italy, and was amazed at just how much regular folk knew about our elections, from the receptionists in the hotels to the limo drivers, they wanted Obama to win, and someone even called him the "black Kennedy". It was great.

Oh yes, and remember NOT to fly Alitalia; they are the worst airline we have ever traveled with, and they lie and make you feel bad for missing a connection, despite the fact that it was their own airline that delayed you!

    McCain doesn't work weekends.

Since effectively capturing the Republican nomination when Mitt Romney dropped out of the race on Feb. 7, John McCain has held just one public campaign event on a weekend.

Instead, after workweeks full of fundraisers, town hall meetings and interviews, McCain has been, in campaign parlance, “down” on nearly every Saturday or Sunday for 20 weeks, largely sequestered away from the news media.

I think the internet tubes are pointing up the differences between real, local issues and the phony national bs. People aren't limited to what the corporate media spews anymore...

    I wish, I wish, I wish...
somebody could trip up McCain and get him to say he wants to reinstate the draft.
Wouldn't seem to be too hard.

Agreed, I don't think you'll find too many people in Chicago who are happy about the Supreme's gun ownership ruling.

Backstory: there's been a lot of innocent kids shot this year.

Nuclear power plants are target number 1 for terrorists but the "serious" people are in favor of them
  • SouthernYankee · 1 year ago
Since McFlipper wants these plants I suggest they put them in areas where the congressmen and senators support it. When they need to store the dirty stuff instead of putting it in Yucca mountains they put it in the states that support these plants. I bet people will nix that plan real quick.

I get confused about Nevada. Isn't that like an ultra-right-wing hideout for gamblers and lame Hollywood types? It makes Miami look socially progressive. And now I'm supposed to be concerned that they might accidentally nuke themselves? Oh, alright! I care in a pc way Not much, but whatever . . .

Indigo, who knows. But I bet they will become dems pretty quick.

    Ya,
We learned all about the difference between national polling data and state elections with the campaigns of Hillary Clinton & Barack Obama in Iowa back in January, didn't we?
