AMERICAblog: McCain's top economic guru to America: You're a bunch of whiners

  • PeteWa · 1 year ago
Well, McCain and his cadre of idle elites are doing just great.
So fuck off middle class Americans,
love the GOP and the McCain campaign.
  • KerrynowCampau · 1 year ago
Pointing out the obvious is whining?
  • GrMtGirl · 1 year ago
I think we should take all of the monies Gramm has away from him . . . alot him $100.00/week and see how fast his mental recession takes hold!

Would like to do that to quite a few of our Rich Politicians as well. Nothing like being there to totally understand what it's all about.
  • PrahaPartizan · 1 year ago
Blaming the electorate for their evaluation of a situation would seemingly indicate a bankruptcy of ideas to correct the situation or living in a total fantasy land, a cloud cuckoo land. Of course, it could mean Gramm has finally revealed he suffers from both conditions.

Isn't this also just the Publican Party version of Jimmy Carter's now infamous "malaise" comment. He was crucified for that by the pundits. Of course, we no longer have a Fourth Estate, just a well-paid squadron of stenographers, so I don't expect much to be said about this.

i was just having a bite of lunch and turned on the idiot box. there was marsha blackburn insisting to andrea mitchell greenspan that phil gram "speaks for himself".
  • SouthernYankee · 1 year ago
Marhmellow Blackburn is from TN and a bitch who knows nothing. She kisses Georgie's ass all the time. I can't understand these dumb dumbs in TN who will follow the party line at all cost and vote for people like this. They don't get because they are the ones causing these problems. Don't tell the people who make under $35,000 that they are a bunch of whinners. Phil Gramm caused a lot of the problems when he was in the senate. He blocked amendments to control the housing and banks. You can thank Philly for the subprime problem

Katrina took my home and all I got was this silly cancer causing trailor that leaks...Boohoo!

I lost my job and my family has no healthcare and all I got was this $1200 stimulus check from the government...Boohoo!

    Whiners, you are!
  • CDS2 · 1 year ago
Want to see whining, go to France or Africa. Those folks have something to whine about. We here in the USA are so used to living a better life than 90% of the world, that when the road get a little rocky, the whining starts This is still the best country in the world to live and raise children in.
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
except for healthcare, declining savings, corporate pension fund raiding, declining salaries, shrinking job market, underfunded education system...

    yeah! we're the greatest!!

I'm sorry Phil if that whining annoys you, it's just the sound of oxygen escaping from the lungs of the people you built your mansions on. It'll die out after a while.

  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
I try to keep it to $100 per bank...

... well... I don't try to keep it to $100... it just works out that way.

I think the definition of 'conflict of concience' is when you have that kind of money... you're a liberal... and you realize the best way to turn that money into millions is to buy Haliburton stock.

Maybe the right expression is 'up on Viagra'
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
LOL, just now when a journalist asked McCain if Gramm was going to be his Secretary of the Treasury, McCain answered: "Senator Gramm is well qualified to be our next Ambassador to Belarus, but he wasn't sure the peoples of Minsk would be all that happy about it"

Well I guess it's safe to say that we won't be seeing Phil baby in any sort of post in a McCain world...

(Belarus is where the giant Chernobyl spill happened, thus it is radiation filled.).

For the first time in my adult life, I am without a job. I have been interviewing for five months and have not had a single offer, although my credentials are stellar. I'm trying to live on $314 a week. I got my stimulus check, reduced to $450 because I made too much money last year! And I had to pay income tax in April. Whining, hell I'm mad as hell.
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
..."and we're not gonna take it anymore"...
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
We're all going to be in that boat soon. I'm hoping to hold out for a few more years. I was thinking last night that I used to believe I would always have my job as long as I wanted it. Not anymore. Getting scary.

Apparently, Africa is now the rightard Bush-excusers' benchmark for the standard of living Americans can expect. Comparisons to other Western countries of similar culture and affluence would be too embarrassing.

Kind of like when there's 'whining' about the Repig authoritarians strip-mining of constitutional rights, their drooling retort is, "At least you're not in North Korea or China or Saddam's Iraq"; or even better, "At least you're not killed by terrrists".

Living conditions slightly better than in a totalitarian shithole, or not being killed, is all they expect from a Repig-run US government. Talk about the soft bigotry of low expectations. The presidency is not the Special Olympics.
  • KerrynowCampau · 1 year ago
"The presidency is not the Special Olympics"

LOL! But it appears that it is for the GOP. The biggest mental defectives strive and get the highest office in the land.

My apologize to the real contestants of the real Special Olympics and may I say to them, "You would be a much better president than the current occupant"
  • nicho · 1 year ago
But, you know, the special olympics is kind of special. The participants work their asses off, take great pride in what they do, and work to the upper limits of their ability. And, they're very nice people too.

None of that can be said about Republicans.

Americans love being called whiners especially those having their houses foreclosed.

Can you imagine the fit that would be pitched if anyone tied to the Obama campaign called the nation a bunch of whiners?? Sean Hannity would have a bird live on the air.
  • nothingasitseems · 1 year ago
Holy crap! Now I've heard everything (well not really, but still). The dollar is at about 60-65% of it's value compared to the Euro, the mortgage industry is in the toilet, gas and groceries are through the roof, unemployment is increasing, but Americans and the media are making this a bigger deal then it really is. Wow.
  • lauren1959 · 1 year ago
The comments were rather amazing. Essentially he said we all need therapy because the economic problems in this country are all in our heads! We've all whined ourselves into a state of anxiety... "John McCain: He's no elitist-he and his staff have their fingers on the pulse of America"
  • Wisconsin Liberal · 1 year ago
That they have their "fingerson the pulse of America", is their hands around our throats and are squeezing hard to kills us off.
  • Apt604 · 1 year ago
In one respect, Gramm is right: there definitely is a psychological element to economic issues. When more and more people lose their homes, gas and food and health care costs keep climbing, incomes don't keep up, our country plunges deeper and deeper into debt, and our government and Wall Street are run by adolescent monkeys . . . yeah, it's pretty damn mentally depressing.

  • Butch1 · 1 year ago
He's an ass and I have a few more choice words I would call him but I'm in polite company. ;-)

Republicans, rich republicans, despise those who do not have the money they have or vote the way they do. If it weren't for some laws, they would try harder in getting rid of us. Of course, with us gone, who would do their dirty work? I guess those FISA concentration camps are going to come in handy when they need their free labor. I can not believe he is back in the picture of politics again. He's another Jesse Helms with 200 more pounds on his frame.
  • Rab · 1 year ago
I think that hunk of shit will be whining come November, McCrazy can join him in the whine.
