AMERICAblog: McToast

Expect this: B-B-BUT! Kerry was the instapoll winner in 04 (53-39) but he lost the election, anyway. America doesn't cotton to smooth-talkin' smartypants. Joe the Plumber wants the War Hero/POW and he's the real voice of America, not all these extreme liberal hacks who are in the tank for the One...

    DO NOT GET COMPLACENT!
Work as if we are behind to ensure the republiCONs do not steal the election.

    Obama warns against overconfidence:

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20081016/pl_nm/us_us...

'"But Obama pointed out to deep-pocket contributors at a fund-raising breakfast in Manhattan that he was supposed to win New Hampshire last January in the Democratic primary but lost the state to Sen. Hillary Clinton.

"For those of you who are feeling giddy or cocky or think this is all set, I just have two words for you: New Hampshire," Obama said.

"I've been in these positions before when we were favored and the press starts getting carried away and we end up getting spanked," he said.'

Absolutely!!! The whole ACORN controversy has been a well-known Karl Rove tactic in previous elections, where Republicans filed lawsuits about alleged voter fraud. Anybody who thinks those kinds of things aren't in Rove's own toolkit isn't aware of how desperate the Republican Party is to win this election or, at the very least, cripple Obama's new adminstration before he has even taken the oath of office. It is essentially for EVERYBODY to get out and vote on November 4th.

Will Joe or John please do a column on WHO THE HELL IS JOE THE PLUMBER?

I mean McCain is out there again touting Joe the Plumber as an ordinary guy, which according to scattered reports is false.

    He owes Ohio back taxes
He is related to the Keating family
    He lived in Arizona
He has NO plumbing license, now that is something, you pay for a plumber and get Joe
He wants to buy a business but has no clue how the tax plans could affect him
    He loves the spotlight
He is a registered something, not Dem or Republican
    He hates Social Security
    He loves Iraq

Just who the hell is this man??? And why is McCain so in love with him?

I sincerely hope SOMEONE (Keith) does a background piece on "JOE". Sure sounds like a SET-UP to me.

    this is excellent.
are there an equal number of GOPer leaning publications saying the opposite?

get on the phone, make some calls, sign up to volunteer, talk it up, don't stop!

wow, doesn't look like McCain even impressed those who have been in the tank for him... teh exception seems to be the talking heads on the TV...

Note that this is AFTER the pundits have had a chance to re-tool their remarks to be in line with the instant polls.

The pundits are still going to lick McCain's ass. Dana Bash gets on my nerves. Is she married to cutie pie John King?

    I think they are engaged...

After the debate, most of the pundits focused on the verbal tactics of the candidates and who scored the most points on the issues. Only a couple of commentators understood the power of the visual message that both men sent to viewers. It was abundantly clear last night that John McCain cannot control his emotions. A self-professed gambler, it is difficult to understand how this man never learned the value of a poker-face. His exaggerated expressions, which were obviously intended to communicate the alleged preposterousness of his opponent's remarks, revealed a ill-tempered, mean side to a man who seems incapable of admitting that anybody else could possibly be right about anything. More importantly, his decision that the American people are ignorant enough to respond to a compaign of personal attacks on Obama's character and background is indicative of a man with a less than flattering point of view of voters. I thought that John McCain's behavior last night was stunningly juvenile and incredibly un-Presidential. In the future, last night's debate will be shown in college classrooms everywhere as a lesson in what not to say and do in a debate.

I say put him in a Texas Holdem tournament with my teen kids-----all or nothing. I'll guarantee you Cindy's millions will be donated to a worthy cause----their zeroed out callege funds

I dunno... Pollster.com says Ohio is back in the toss-up category. No longer "leaning Obama."
  • Wild_Weasel · 1 year ago
If McCain's followers continue to drink the Kool aid regardless of the facts on the ground, there's not much you can do. Joe the Plumber doesn't have a plumbing license, doesn't make $250K a year, and he admits he likely won't make that, but misinterprets Obama's tax policy.

Here's some ammunition if you are still after the votes of Republicans, Independents, or Wavering Dems. There's an interesting article in the Washington Post (Aug. 28) that points out that Barack does not mean lightning as Sarah though but means "blessed" (Baruch in Hebrew). Check it out for all sorts of interesting info about his name:

Hussein roughly translates to "handsome", or "comely". Courtesy of my teen's Muslim friends

Preaching to the choir will not cut it in this election.

    Poor McCain.
