AMERICAblog: Members of "Fringe" Alaskan Independence Party Say Palin Was a Member in 90s

  • lilyannerose · 1 year ago
How many hours before Sarah needs to claim that she just wants to spend time with her family?

Is this woman just so unsophisticated that she didn't think trhese things would get out or is she that stupid?
  • ydthin · 1 year ago
to your second point I don't know which is scarier. It is definitely a small-town naivete to think that people cannot hurt you if you know the right people (I'm referring to small town politics). She's probably having a rude awakening that the non-small-towns-scattered-amongst-wilderness world is not like that.

I am quite sure if she goes, it will be blamed on the left. And I'm somewhat anxious that somewhere, waiting in the wings, is some dreadful republican Nazi, with Rove on one side and Hughes on the other, to take her place. Someone Cheney-esque. We might even be being used to that end. It's happened before. :(
  • ClintonHater · 1 year ago
They are going to have to jettison this chick quick before she explodes.
  • HereinDC · 1 year ago
    Yes.
  • ydthin · 1 year ago
yeah, because there might even be nudie pics and maybe even a sex tape out there somewhere. She just doesn't seem too bright.
  • An_American_Karol · 1 year ago
Are you now, or ever have been a member of the Alaskan Independence Party? Who the hell vetted this woman?
  • dad · 1 year ago
    country first?
  • dad · 1 year ago
    nope. "alaska first."
  • copaneco · 1 year ago
that's it... that's IT! the last straw. I'm sick and tired of these America-hating Republicans and their like... they should be rounded up and deported to the newly created Republic of Anchorage, where they can all eat moose!

seriously, any suggestions for a new state to fill in the gap? so we don't have to change the flag.

cut Alaska loose and send these vile traitors up there to their own FEMA Igloo park, they're toast!
  • AdmNaismith · 1 year ago
I say the Marianas, so they can stop being used for sweatshops and forced prostitution.
    Everyone wins.

This must be a never ending nightmare for McCain and his campaign.

He really looks a first class idiot now, and it shows just how bad he is in managing his campaign. He seems too impulsive in the way he chose this Palin woman...not knowing her at all. As Mo Dowd says, she has not even had one interview on MTP. What a hopeless, under qualified, rookie. McCain, once again, reminds us of Bush ....he appoints morons who are totally unsuitable and unqualified for the job.
  • HereinDC · 1 year ago
    I'll say it :
More and more I'm thinking post partum for Sarah Palin.
  • Sage24 · 1 year ago
Don't expect Sarah Palin to gracefully bow out, to spend time with the family, in the near future...McCain is a stubborn old man, and will not want to admit that he made the biggest mistake, and showed poor judgment by chosing Palin for his VP. They will put their best face on, and spin away.
  • ydthin · 1 year ago
    that's fine too.

Palin can get up there and preach abstinence only education/anti-contraception to beat the band, with her daughter standing beside her, watermelon belly and all. Maybe her water will even break on the stage or something. I do not think that this is what most americans want for their daughters, no matter their feelings about abortion.
  • gallery · 1 year ago
My apologies for going off topic..... great coverage today John...... BUT, is anyone else suffering from stufted up tubes, or is it just me and my shitty service from comcast?
    I'm in jersey btw.
    Thanks..... It's driving me batshit.
  • An_American_Karol · 1 year ago
Earlier, Ablog was taking time to refresh, but it seems ok now. I haven't noticed a problem elsewhere.
  • An_American_Karol · 1 year ago
Does any of this matter if MSM doesn't pick it up and go with it?
I guess if we put enough pressure through the "giant series of tubes" it puts McCain on the defense. At least it worked to expose the pregnant daughter.

"I'm an Alaskan, not an American. I've got no use for America or her damned institutions." - Joe Vogler

Reverend Wright! Reverend Wright! Reverend Wright!
  • erykah · 1 year ago
False. While Wright criticized America for its continued racism, he never said he was not an American. You are comparing apples and oranges.
  • twitches · 1 year ago
You misunderstood me. All I am comparing is how the right would respond to such a quote, had it come from someone attached to a Democrat rather than someone attached to one of their own.
  • AngelaChanning · 1 year ago
Ruh Roh, HuffPost is siting NY Times article that GOP Governor Mark Sanford said that he has heard no discussions about removing Governor Palin from the ticket. You know what that means: There have been discussions about removing her from the ticket.

    Drip Drip Drip...

Next week the fun will really begin. Both conventions will be over and the gloves will come off. I can hardly wait.
  • machiado · 1 year ago
It is time to weigh in on the police-state actions taking place in St. Paul. See Glenn Greenwald.

This VEEP is the gift that keeps on giving. :-)

    God must be a democrat.
  • ZennButtKicker (tlhwraith) · 1 year ago
See Hurricane Hannah for further evidence of that. 2 potential hurrican hits during RNC convention week, that's just too weird. I'm very happy Gustav looks to be more hype than harm, and I pray the same for Hannah, but a happy side-effect is that the RNC convention is getting stepped on all over the place.
  • shrrrr · 1 year ago
Finally. This is the thread (the story) we need to hear more about. Please stay with this one.
  • devlzadvocate · 1 year ago
Watching Larry King. Somebody please smack Michelle Bachman.
  • ZennButtKicker (tlhwraith) · 1 year ago
James Carville annoys me sometimes, but he definately laid some smack down. I love it when she started yelling sexism against Palin (when Carville called her unqualified) and Carvilles response was that he supported Hillary Clinton. It was simple and direct and utterly true. Carville was one of Clintons biggest cherleaders, so its more than a little disingenuous calling him a sexist. Carville was also right that there were plenty of other QUALIFIED female candidates out there for the GOP, if they wanted to go that route.

Also, loved her "deer in headlights" look!

    Game. set. match Carville.
  • devlzadvocate · 1 year ago
I agree. Carville can be irritating, but you gotta love his fight. I'd want him in my side. I'll just never be able to figure out that marriage. What must that be like? More irritating than Carville is Matalin. Whenever I see her in MTP, she reminds me of a bobble-head figure with that contantly shaking "no-no" head.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
I think I detected a black eye on Matalin last time she was interviewed. I think Carville beats her...
  • donotmakemecomedownthere · 1 year ago
Michelle Bachman? The MN-Rep who went to Alaska last month and said that Jesus would solve the global warming problem? I am so sick and tired of dumb.
  • gallery · 1 year ago
thanks Karol, I have a signal again (wireless) but the tinfoil wrapped around my head sure is annoying.
Time to make an appointment at the apple store I guess......

The North shall rise again, suh!
  • lilyannerose · 1 year ago
Why Sarah, is that a moose or a Yankee you're aiming at?
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
I have just read a reporter trying to spin this whole Palin affair as "she is just like you with family problems" I posted this below and now here because I am damn mad. Palin IS NOT LIKE ME OR LIKE MANY OTHER AMERICANS,

I am so completely disgusted with Republicans and their whines! They spit venom and have the utter gall to say there should be no retribution. They lie (McCain and Palin), they steal (to many to count) they call for murder (radio talk show hosts) they cheat (to many to name).

A reporter on Politico has the audacity to say that Palin may be okay because she now has problems that ordinary working people have in their everyday life. That is the new spin on this bimbo, she is just like you.

    ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.
  • An_American_Karol · 1 year ago
Not like me, aquarius. My kids knew birth control as teenagers and each had their first child - one at 26, one at 32, and one at 36. No teen pregnancies, thank god.
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
I am so sick of Republican spin. "Don't do as I do, Do what I say" mentality only goes so far. Their base, many of which are right wing religious fanatics, has pretended to moral upstanding members of society. How many Republicans have been in the news for prostitutes, for engaging young men, for telling us sex before marriage is a against god's teachings, for cheating.

AND NOW THEY WANT US TO BELIEVE PALIN IS JUST LIKE US??

If McCain wins it isn't going to more of the same, it is going to be insanity and poor judgment in mega proportions.
  • ydthin · 1 year ago
my sister just gave birth to a special needs little girl and she had to leave her job she'd been at ten years. She worked her way up from customer rep to engineering, going to school much of that time to gain enough education to move up the ladder. Then the baby came, and she could not work. And then her husband got laid off. Now they have a special needs infant who has had five surgeries and needs at least one more major surgery, and no jobs. The ONLY thing that has saved them is COBRA (thank you, Clintons) but she had to cash in her 401k to pay for it. I don't know what she will do when that runs out. So, no, my sister did not go back to work 3 days after her special needs child was born, it's been 4 months, and she is still not back at work, with no income. I hear what you are saying, and it's sickening, you are right. I am beyond sick of these people.
  • Joneses · 1 year ago
Ya think they will replace her? Seems like every two hours something comes up on this woman. McCain is right now thinking, but but, I'm a POW.
  • devlzadvocate · 1 year ago
So, this whole GOP ticket, convention, McCain, experience, morality, Palin thing is going well!

Damn, I'm glad I'm a gay Democrat this year, so far.
  • copaneco · 1 year ago
twitches, you are exactly right... the Pajamadeen is going to go into full on epileptic meltdown chanting "but Wright... Ayers.. Ayers... Wright...". The truth is that Ayers has deep, deep ties with some South Carolina Republicans, but come on... nobody gives a krap!

please, let's destroy them with this once and for all... for any person who dares bring up Ayers, remind them that their guy picked someone who wanted to SECEDE from America. it's just too rich and, like homophobia so often is, it's an instance where people have learned to attack what they see in themselves in order to deflect attention from it.
  • lilyannerose · 1 year ago
I don't have to volunteer to be the choir, I'm already singing scales on this one!
  • sukabi1 · 1 year ago
It seems that Ms. Palin is indeed cut from the same cloth as her "fellow republicans"... no matter which party she has aligned herself with in the past or at the current moment.... EVERYTHING is done to further her quest for power....

Remind you of anyone??? how about her running mate? It's not about ideology with them (although they like to talk about it) it's about gaining power. And like all the current repubs, THE RULES DON'T APPLY, THE RULES ARE FOR THE SHEEPLE.
  • smiling_dog · 1 year ago
Can we just move all the Republicans to Alaska? There's plenty of room and they can drill to their hearts' content, shoot Moose, Grizzly and Polar Bears and pretend that the melting ice is not a sign of global warming. It sounds like a paradise and we could get the other 49 states moving forward.
  • devlzadvocate · 1 year ago
move them there, sure. but no to drilling and shooting the beasts. let the beasts stalk the republicans.
  • devlzadvocate · 1 year ago
I'll still be gay next year, but maybe not so much a Democrat, who knows?
  • lilybart · 1 year ago
    "Goddam America!!"
  • copaneco · 1 year ago
please let everyone say this loud and clear every time the "Average Jane" thing comes up:

Average Americans do NOT SUPPORT the breakup of the United States of America." Period.

(They don't eat moose either... but Jeebus...)
  • shrrrr · 1 year ago
This is the story behind her!!! Maybe if we get, others will too?
    Forever hopeful.
  • ydthin · 1 year ago
her husband and son are independents too.

and we'll have fun, fun, fun til McCain takes the Palin away...

One thing I don't understand about her, aside from all this...she says she's pro-life but she likes to kill innocent animals, and criminals, and Iraqis. Did I leave anything out? does she realize those are alive too? I think she's way dumber than she looks.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
Her husband was a member of AIP too.

    Don't know about her son.

Obviously, when she decided to run for mayor, she joined the Repubs and had her husband drop the AIP.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
    YES !!!!!

    I knew it !!!!

McCain claims to put "country first," yet his running made has sworn to put "Alaska first."
  • moreleesafer · 1 year ago
    oh really?

I would believe it. Alaskans are almost as fanatical as Texans. They are just looking for an excuse to secede from the union.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
    COUNTRY (MEANING ALASKA!) FIRST!
