She was as about as close to perfect as is possible. She is a huge asset to the Obama campaign.

it's gonna come down to which American Dream you choose...the one for all the people or the one for all the rich people.

Today I had the misfortune of arguing with a limbot. He said that he had heard, there were wmds in Iraq, Saddam blew up the towers, and Bush Cheney or the military never admitted there were no wmds. I swear everything he HEARD on Limbaugh he took as God's truth. It was like going back in a time capsule 8 years. Everything he asserted was backed up with the words " I heard". The scope of his isolation and ignorance is breathtaking! This is truly the Bush-McCain 20% base.

    condolences.
i only hope that Obama wins and can convince these people he is not the anti-Christ...

These people cannot be convinced of anything, tonight they will all crawl back into their cocoons and go back to sleep sure in their delusion.

I don't buy the divided crap either. Over and over today on the news they kept quoting and playing soundbites of the same 3 or 4 so-called Hillary supporters. I say these people dishonor Hillary with their incessant whoring to the media. It is about them being in the spotlight, that's what they want. they are unreasonable selfish attention whores. It is well past time they all just STFU. I say we ignore them.

Today I saw Soledad O'Brien try this lame divided dems bullshit on Carl Bernstein--he totally shot her in the ass, bless his gnarly old heart!
  • ShirleyGoodnessanMercy · 1 year ago
Democrats are not divided. It's a lie devised by the Republicans... their usual dirty tricks.

Everyone I know thought Michelle Obama's speech was magnificent. Worthy of comparisons with Jackie Kennedy and Eleanor Roosevelt.

Not being a great fan of the One or his wife, I was impressed by her speech. Not just the words but the delivery, A's for both.
  • scottinsf · 1 year ago
We watched it live with rabbit ears through a fuzzy signal on PBS. We were in tears by the end. Seriously.

What an amazing woman, and what cute daughters. We were talking about feminism in a thread below but wow! Can you think of a better role model for women and mothers than Michelle Obama right now?

I'm anxious to see Cindy's speech.

She's too busy in war torn Georgia wondering where the hell Macon is

My own (jaundiced) take was that the speech was well-scripted and nicely delivered. But that should at least be expected of a Harvard-educated lawyer, no?

I seem to recall that Reagan was a darned fine speaker too. Whether he understood or actually believed in what he was saying is another matter. One can only hope that Ms. Obama does both.
  • Fireblazes(CheetohsandCatfood) · 1 year ago
If any person had listened with an open mind and eyes you would have seen the depth of her belief in her self, her husband, her words, and this country! Comparing any democrat with that murderous slimebag Reagan is a grave insult.

You miss my point. The current DNC ceremonies aren't an exercise in extemporaneous speechifying. It's all been carefully worked out, as a political media affair and should be treated as such.

For what it's worth, I didn't trust Reagan either, after experiencing first hand what he did to California as governor.

LBJ was a terrible speaker, yet he managed to single-handedly push through some of the most significant progressive legislation of the last century.

Eleanor Roosevelt was neither a great speaker nor a fashion plate. It's pretty safe to say that she set the bar very high.

If Mr. Obama is elected, I hope that Ms. Obama's actions will also be exemplary.

What does it say about America in 2008 that a professional African-American woman, who is also a wife and mother, has to be subjected to the spectacle of announcing that she is a human being and an American and not "scary," "angry," "uppity," alien, Other, trashy, too smart, too career-oriented, and generally suspect? I suppose that if she has to endure the necessity of trying to win over a majority of Idiot Nation, she done good for what she had to do.

It's because her rival First Lady is such a serene, lovely, WHITE girl-next-door. Never mind shrewd manipulator of an inherited fortune and former drug abusing thief. And no, absoLOOTly no connection between Cindy's visit to Georgia and Michelle's appearance at DNC; Cindy's just checking on hubby's business deals with the Georgians, cause if she left it to him, he'd be jetting into Atlanta.

Gov Ed Rendell is on now, slapping the crap out of McCain's energy policy. "The only thing green about John McCain's energy policy is the billions of dollars he is putting into the pockets of big oil!"

OT Does anyone think it's weird how in the story of the guys who were arrested yesterday suspected of wanting to assassinate Obama there was already someone being filmed and quoted by the MSM about modus operandi etc.? Maybe I just have an urge to polish my tinfoil hat, but this weird Nazi/meth/guns scenario, complete with wasted-looking but willing-to-talk 'friend' all seems to be sewn up and may have made more impact if Georgia hadn't declared war on Russia, another killer hurricane wasn't approaching and Michelle hadn't done so well. Sorry, it's late here, and I'm not articulating this very well, but it still looks like a sort of Orange Alert distraction-type story gone wrong.
