Good morning. There is no Real World, there is only the media projections, the blogging commentary, and lunch. I think I'll have the chile today.

Joe, I think you're IN "the real world"! However, I'm counting on my favorite bloggers such as you to fill me in on the happenings at the convention. This week, we're sending two sons back to high school and one to university out of state. So it's back to stumbling downstairs at 5:45 am to pack a lumberjack's lunch for the youngest and take his carpool to school. Unless it's Tuesday, when I take his older brother. Composition books! Getcha composition books heah!

    My new fave campaign "sum-up"...

Johnny and Ms Thang Cindy have more houses than I have pairs of shoes.

I think that just about sums up reality.

(Check out the photo on my avatar...look at Ms Thang's turkey neck! Girl, you had better start using LA plastic surgeons....those Scottsdale quacks are not doing you any good!!!)

Oh Mary it takes a fairy...

I think since McCain has opened up the "Cindy's father worked hard to leave her millions" theme, that we should examine how he abandoned this first family, and count the kitchen tables of her half sister. There's nothing like touting the character and hard work of a guy who abandons his family...marriages end, but how they end is relevant, and what you do with your kids even more so. The fact that Cindy thinks she's an "only child" speaks volumes.

Of course, according to Wolfie at CNN, FauxNoise and the rest of the "concerned" flying monkey brigade, the entire Democratic Party is torn apart by the horrid mistreatment of Hillary Clinton, who will surely try to steal the election because we need this race to be close, otherwise people might end up watching reruns of The Simpsons or South Park instead of watching Leslie Blitzer masturbate during every breathless and incorrect political pronouncement.
This whole Hillary kerfuffle (I love that word) perpetrated by our wonderful and subservient media is ridiculous enough, but even more so by their not reporting on what is hidden underneath. If the Clintons, for some bizarre reason only known to the solons of traditional media, decide to screw up Obama's campaign for the Prez, they would become the Zell Miller/Joe Lieberman couple of the Democratic Party (or maybe a better pair as an example would be Leopold/Loeb). They would be despised, spit on, castigated out and lose nearly all voter and financial support, and I would doubt very much if Hillary could ever retain her NY Senate seat after doing so. And I also doubt if the Republican Party who welcome Miller and Lieberman with open arms would do the same for the Clintons, after basically trying to have them burned at the stake like Galileo for over 2 decades. So where would they go or better yet, where would they hide, because I know a lot of people would never even allow them to walk down their streets? But what I find absolutely hilarious is the media's total cluelessness in not being able to recognize the box that McCain has put himself into. He wants to try to appeal to the Hillary people who are supposedly pissed at Obama for passing her over as VP, and also the Dems for not giving her the nomination. But if Hillary goes after McCain tooth and nail the way she will have to to prove herself to the Democratic Party in order to keep their support and her political career, how can McCain fight back against her volleys without losing any support from HER supporters and any indies who may have supported her? Any first-year journalism student would bring this up in a political discussion, but I guess that leaves the current crop of TV and newprint journies totally out of the loop, since they don't even seem to have that much sense.

    It's simple.

Any time you see a Talking Head on TV, just remember you're looking at a very rich person who wants to save their tax breaks.

The few who give an objective view are actually very selfless, because they're telling the truth against their own self-interest.

    Dear NBC:
All the fluff stories about the Olympic athletes' personal lives gets a bit old. But if you're going to go on and on and on about the het athletes' lives, do the same for the gay athletes. You could've help dispel the archaic notion that homosexuality is only about having sex.

The Real World here in the DC area is as follows:
    - The weather continues to be pretty much what it was when
you left - high in the mid 80's and finally a chance for some rain.
    - The start of the school year in the major school districts like
Montgomery and PG have caused a major (but expected) shift
in traffic. Is it that the assholes just take August off, or do they
suddenly shift into asshole mode when the schoolbuses hit
the road? Did I mention that the drivers around here are assholes?
    - Political news - we got nuthin'. All eyes are on Denver.

    Back to you, Joe.

I live in Denver, the Mile High City, Oueen City of the Plains, home of the 2007 NL Champions, and it is the Real World. Except for the tent next to the La Quinta Inn that is selling Obama swag. That is kinda out of place. Broncos stuff would sell much better.

The "Real World" as I see it in South Carolina: Nobody is talking about the upcoming election except the small bubbles of democrats sending emails about rallies. I saw a handful of people on a busy intersection last week holding signs about Obama and clean energy. Olympics, High School and College Football and Nascar is pretty much it.
Personally and amongst my intelligent friends, we are afraid to get excited about an Obama victory because we can't take another Kerry or Gore letdown. Things "feel" good for us but the polls are saying it's close. We smell rats and we have come to believe in rats. We say, "nah, there's no WAY McCain can win". And then, we remember that this is the country that put W in office TWICE. We are afraid.
