Clearly from an International perspective, Obama is making news, driving the GOP nuts. But locally he's having a similar impact, at least here in New Hampshire. His Fellows and volunteers have been aggressively canvassing, focusing primarily on Undeclared (Independent) voters and on those historically Republican voters who in this year's primary selected instead a Democratic ballot. The results have been phenomenal, with an estimated eight in ten of those targeted voters declaring their intention to vote for Obama in November.
Now, this is Central New Hampshire, what has traditionally been a very conservative, Republican area. The tide is turning. Legendary singer/songwriter Carole King campaigned across the state last week helping to generate and sustain enthusiasm for Obama's campaign during the summer months when things are usually fairly quiet. You can see some photos of her visit here. http://www.laconiademocrats.org/CaroleKingPhoto...

I have been saying that for some time. A man in all the Senate, let alone one in charge of technology, in this day and age, who does not even know how to get on a computer..?? WTF. Can you imagine if Obama had such a record, he would be laughed out of town. Stop the insanity!

The controversial New Yorker cover upset the Obama campaign? There's nothing wrong with putting the wingers' fears in a cartoon and shining the light on it. I think this will ultimately be a good thing, but not if Obama punishes the mag for it...
So, when do they post their fantasy cover of the McBushes?

i wish they would, in the interest of fairness and to illustrate a point...they could just use McBush's own political ads...the ones depicting him as a sharp young handsome wounded warrior maverick, saluting and smiling...
he's nothing like that.

The New Yorker was refused along with 160 other "reporters" so it is not like they were shunned or banned. The New Yorker is screaming foul and is using the cartoon as a reason, they are pushing for something more than is deserved. They are not Newsweek or the Time or the Post or like the 40 that were approved.
40 openings on the plane and the New Yorker thinks they should have one of the seats?
Local Rethuglican politics don't seem to be doing very well--indeed.

Hot (near 100), humid, muggy here in NC as well--until Wed. when it changes to 90 and the high 80s. Last night around 1, I was up to let the doggies out, and the thickness of the air outside was almost strangling, even at that hour. It had somewhat abated by 5 am, but expect it to build up again the next couple of days. I'll stay inside until this afternoon's trip into Charlotte. Sadly, it's like Catch 22--I have to run the car's A/C in order to just breathe on days like this...otherwise, I seldom use it.

My ancestors were the Pettigrews from NC..............they drifted away from there after the civil war, I have never been there but imagine it to be all plantations and small towns.

I watched McCain on the Today show and immensely enjoyed watching him squirm on why he has missed all the hearings on Afghanistan. He had no answer, none, just kept slamming Obama. Vierera asked questions the press should be asking.
