    PS-Happy Birthday, Mr. Obama!!!
Whoever first thought of putting peanut butter with jelly was a genius -- and you have the capacity to be that kind of genius today. Your instincts could lead you to the perfect combination of at least two different elements that, when put together, create something really magical.

Bloody Breakfast TV (to quote Edina Monsoon) Chitchat: What a week for McCain! Knocking The One back on his heels with those hilarious ads. That ad poking fun at Obama as Messiah: funniest political ad ever! Who knew the GOP could be so edgy?! Obama on the wrong side of drilling for oil: and he knows it, so he's flip-flopped and said it's OK to drill. Boy, can that guy ever position himself on the right side of that "fine line" he has to "walk" all the time? Doesn't look like it. And Obama's campaign calling attention to himself as "different"? Racist, plainly racist. Outrageous, really. And that just alienates white voters who hate to be called racists, when they're not. Why even Bill Clinton yesterday had to say he wasn't a racist just because he criticized Obama. Can't a good white guy criticize Obama for anything without being smeared as a racist? If Obama keeps this up, he's gonna lose. Big Time. Cindy showing up at NASCAR with that superhero anti-terrorist fighter Kiefer Sutherland this weekend, and John McCain will be appearing with that great patriot Kid Rock in Sturgis, SD for the Harley jam: but only Obama has any associations with the concept of celebrityhood.
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago

Who was really behind the attempt to link the anthrax scare to Saddam Hussein? Who were McCain's sources when he appeared on the David Letterman show? Was the scientist who committed suicide a fall guy? Will we ever know the truth?
  • Rob Mule · 1 year ago
McCain wasn't the only person with these "sources".
Olbermann said NBC executives were assured at the time by Washington that the anthrax mail may have originated in Iraq.
I'm curious how Bruce Ivins' therepist escaped from the HIPA rules to blab details of Ivins alleged condition, therapy and behavior???

In answer to your last question, no. It takes courage to go after the Truth and indict criminals. Who's going to do it? The Dems? Obama? Sure.
  • vkobaya · 1 year ago
Reason they don't want to indict criminals is that if they go after the criminals, guess who else falls under the label of criminal, who is complicit, and accessory, etc.

No, no, the truth is just too inconvenient.

The next question is - why would this guy supposedly kill himself via Tylenol if he was an expert on biological weapons tech and had access to things that would kill him a lot more quickly and less painfully?
  • Rob Mule · 1 year ago
Exactly...He overdosed on the stuff according to what I heard and read, right?
According to a medical whiz I talked to today:
To OD on the Tylenol part would take "weeks" and be very painful...On the other hand, ODing on the "3" (codeine), while achieving death quicker, would not attain death as quickly as this particular victim...also a victim would have to ingest "a large quantity" of the compound.
  • Indigo · 1 year ago
You know, I was pondering that thing about the "suicide" and wondering whether Tylenol was running a product placement ad through a government agency. "Tylenol 3, the suicide drug preferred by 9 out of 10 US covert operations personnel." I dunno, it doesn't sound real peppy but in these days of pirate economics, anything less than the unlikely is clearly untrue.

Did anyone see Bob Herbert on Morning Joe this morning. He talked about the Paris , Britney ad and asked: "Why are there these tall monuments in the ad that look like phalic symbols right after Paris, Britney then Obama. I actually didn't notice that. I did notice the word "Forgien" next to Obama's name for a couple seconds. These people are so disgusting they'll do anything to win.
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
Unfortunately, he got it wrong: neither the Washington Monument nor the leaning Tower of Pisa were in the ad. He meant to say the Victory Column in Berlin, which does appear in 4 shots, but he's overreaching here to make a Freud 101 point that Obama is being portrayed as Mandingo with the depiction of phallic symbols. (Obama is, but it's in far more subtle ways with the use of overlapping dissolves conjoining Obama with the white women, and other "dog whistle" message techniques).
  • 4dogs · 1 year ago
Thanks for your comments and your correction. I think this is all out of the
Rove play book connecting Obama with white women and phallic symbols. I love
how they have the words "Foreign Oil" with a picture next to him and they
just let the word "Foreign" hang there for a minute. Thanks for your imput.

How DARE Obama even consider any other woman for Veep but Hillary! Geraldine Ferraro quoted by Mike Allen at politico.com. (It would be misogynistic and outrageous and insulting and unforgivable if Obama were to put another woman but Hillary on the ticket like Sebelius or McCaskill).
  • vkobaya · 1 year ago
Are you kidding? Just how long do you think Hillary will wait after being offered the Veep before having Obama assassinated? One minute, one hour, two hours or will she have the decency to wait one day before she has Obama plugged. And given how eager Bill is live another 8 years in the White House, will he be any less impatient than his wife? Hillary's already assured us Obama will not survive and she is ready, willing, able and very, very eager, oh so eager, to step in.

Suppose someone came up with an ad, showing McCain in various moments looking old, saying the wrong thing, or forgetting, making the point that he is too old, and slow like Bush, to run this country.

Would the McCain camp, and the republicans sit back, relax, and take it as humor?

The juvenile ads put out by the McInsane campaign, were now only low, but of lacking high standards of a Presidential campaign. With everything in a mess, and serious problems facing this country, the American people should be insulted that they are targeted with these low grade ads, and that old Mac, is not telling them what he is going to do for the country, and solve the problems caused by his heroes, Bush and Cheney.

Unfortunately, half of this country, cannot think straight either.
  • TomJoad · 1 year ago
I've got an uneasy feeling that once again the GOP is getting its way in setting the agenda to be constant fluff, and the progressive sites are falling for it big-time.

Polls (forget 'em, they aren't worth squat), non-issues, answering idiotic childish bullshit. What do you do with a precocious child? You treat their childishness as not worth it. You FOCUS, on the issues...the WAR, the ECONOMY, the ENVIRONMENT...the breaking of law by the administration. The incompetance.

Just like with Kerry, who never articulated (and was passionless) the utter viciousness and incompetance, and evil-mindedness. Yeah, he got "swift boated" by not answering that bullshit head on, and I don't propose ignoring, but calling a thing for what it is....call "bullshit" on bullshit. Then move BACK on to the issues.

We can't win by fighting with a pig. We just get all dirty, and the pig loves it.

It's a tough situation. I can understand that Obama doesn't want to sink to McCain's level and is trying to maintain a level of dignity. However, the people McCain is aiming for don't understand dignity and restraint. Unfortunately, they don't much understand facts and reason, either.

I still would love to see an ad of McCain saying "I'm not an expert on the economy", and then show some of his crazy old ideas. Use his own words against him. We could have an ad showing McCain being critical of Obamas "inexperience" then show how he can't remember the difference between Sunni and Shite etc. Don't say he's old, just use his own words against him, and show his frequent stumbles. How fit is McCain to lead?
  • ImpureScience · 1 year ago
Just noticed that all the meaningless polls have Obama and McCain more or less tied after a week of dirty GOP ads, after Obama had been up by significant single digits. I'm sad to say that even with Obama being better than Kerry, Dukakis, etc. at answering GOP schoolyard taunts, I am begining to get that sick feeling that the GOP will once again get the Presidency. They know how to smear, belittle, and induce fear, and they have no consciences to speak of. Democrats act like bullied schoolkids. Don't we ever get tired of losing?
