More about the Yule Goat
Ruling families--
Bootleg scotch or Oxy tabs
No "class" difference
Best haikus since the Fugs
Thanks.
That's around 5000 if he's a two-termer.
Or, if he vacations as much as W, about 750.
Grim disillusion--
Happy days were yours and mine
Now he's jumped the shark
The Rt. Rev. V. Gene Robinson of New Hampshire, who became the Episcopal Church’s first openly gay bishop in 2003 and last year entered into a civil union with his gay partner, will deliver the invocation for Sunday’s kickoff inaugural event on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, with President-elect Obama in attendance. The event is free and open to the public. An Obama source: “Robinson was in the plans before the complaints about Rick Warren. Many skeptics will read this as a direct reaction to the Warren criticism – but it’s just not so.” Robinson has been referred to as “the most controversial Christian in the world.”
For the last week I've had to get off my bus 3 blocks before the stop because the traffic is STOPPED!.
So....what's the difference?
But black leaders are already warning that even with Obama's election, it's not yet a "post-racial" US. And not a "post-any other identification" world, either, I might add.
The fight is always there, will always be there. I ran across a very interesting work (circa 2002) called "Gender, Race and Class in Media: A Text Reader" online which is a pretty exhaustive sociological and political work, well done and enlightening, about how popular media portrays the groups listed, including gays. And don't forget, everyone ingests popular media on a daily basis, generally without an analytical eye.
History has passed that generation of civil rights leaders by and they can't accept it.
The same thing will happen to the Boomer Feminists in 2016, when a woman gets nominated for president and it isn't Hillary.
Sound the bugle!
Both sides have dirty hands.
But how would Israel react if it did not have sophisticated tanks, fighter jets and weapons. If it had an economic embargo on Israel that prevented humanitarian aid, food, fuel and water. If Palestinian "SETTLEMENTS" kept encroaching on their lands. If an Israeli had an orchard full of Olive trees ripped out by Palestinians so that they could build settlements, roads, or walls. If Israelis had to endure six hour waits at check points to go to work.
Israel has the dirtiest of dirty hands.
If the entire world sees this and America does not, shame shame shame on us, because Americans now have dirty hands too. Children and women are dying. Over 40% of the nearly one thousand dead in Gaza are women and children. Americans are guilty of allowing this to happen, selling weapons to Israel, giving them economic aid while Palestine goes hungry.
The selection of New Hampshire Episcopal Bishop Gene Robinson for Sunday's event follows weeks of criticism from gay-rights groups over Obama's decision to have the Rev. Rick Warren give the invocation at his Jan. 20 inauguration.
