Good Grief, David Frum is on morning Joe and telling us all these reasons America is better off in in the last 8 years. He wrote an article with 8 items we are better.

    Here they go... REWRITING History.

Senator John McCain’s campaign manager was paid more than $30,000 a month for five years as president of an advocacy group set up by the mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to defend them against stricter regulations!

    More McCain Hyprocrisy
  • CobaltBlue · 1 year ago
In the debate we’ll watch Mccain shamelessly pull out dog tags of deceased American soldiers as political currency. (as he did on 60 minutes last night)

Americans eagerly buy it up – that there is no one stronger than McCain for America!

Obama is left gasping – with nothing to sell.

How does Obama neutralize this kind of filth?
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
Like a mother's going to give away the dog tags of her dead son to any politician.

That was the most staged piece of bullshit I ever saw.

    Breakfast TV Yackety-Yack:

Wow! 60,000! That's the big number today: the crowd in just one Florida retirement community that showed up to see their Sarah! It may have been swelteringly hot, but even baby Trig was there! The excitement this candidate creates! So while it wasn't a great week for McCain last week, it's a whole new ball game as we head into the first debate. And the polls are still showing them neck-and-neck.

Joe Biden can't get those crowds, so Obama has to show that he can be a populist. Sarah just "has" that touch, in ways the three men don't. The most important voters in the whole country: those blue-collar, Reagan Democrats in southwestern PA: they are going to decide the election for all of us. And they don't like black people. Gretchen and Doocy pointed out that race IS a factor in the election, because the Dems are making it a point. They even said that ALL the thousands of email coming into Fox and Friends was about that and not the economy.

So, while there's lots of outrage from Joe about the ballooning of Big Government, Fox and Friends is paying attention to how much white people who won't vote for Obama are offended by this kind of talk. And also important: Casey Anthony's ex-boyfriend said he can't believe she killed innocent little Caylee. And he was shocked, too, at how much she was slutting around. Fox and Friends knows what morning viewers want to see!

Since the race is so tight, and John McCain has promised to get politicians out of his White House (he said that on 60 Minutes), and Sarah is so massively popular, and whose email privacy was so outrageously breached, and the first debate is about foreign policy, which isn't that important now, the consensus is, as usual, Obama's got insurmountable obstacles. Willow Palin, the Jonas Brothers (so cute!! so hot!!!) ARE confirmed for the first White House musical event--just as you requested!
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
KarenMLR- you'd better take two showers this morning, light some sage and smudge your entire house...do it quickly! we need you!
  • blackwolf · 1 year ago
The injection of race into it is the result of the MSM wanting to equalize the polls-----equal huge ratings and advertising revenue. You're right! Fox news will now spin the illusion that the Democrats are the ones obssessed with race.

That will bring in all the talking heads that will claim that the Obama campaign and Dems will imply that RACE was a factor if Obama loses the election. The effect is highly predictable! There will be a large number of whites who will backlash and opt out of voting for Obama. This will be the excuse they've been looking for.

My guess is that these obstacles are too much for Obama to overcome. RACE MATTERS, and has always mattered in this election. However, you have to give the millions of people, white, black, brown, and red credit for backing Obama because they believe in change.
  • Reason0Politics1 · 1 year ago
and...at the most important election maybe ever in this country, when the dems should have had a walk in the park...we decided to "test the waters" with a black candidate... you cant even make this shit up.... of course race matters. did people actually think we had "transcended" that level of animal ism? seriously? given the fact the there probably is a child being raped within 100 miles of each of us that are posting, at THIS MOMENT, a woman being beaten by a man that will never be held accountable by a society that still quietly condones it because women are property.. and we dare to imagine we are above thinking race would be a factor?

maybe we are the ones drinking the kool aid. having hope of change in this ugly world is pretty psychotic.
  • blackwolf · 1 year ago
Race matters. I think it'll show the world what we really stand for.

We've been exposed. Or, I should say, "They've been exposed."
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
yep blackwolf - i think that's one big difference this time...the whole deal is much more out in the open...on the race issue as well as the others there is a much more clear choice this time...i hope we can do the right thing.
  • blackwolf · 1 year ago
It's a point of critical mass. Obama is the right candidate for the times--politically, and racially. The change has to be an absolute change. It's amazing what this race is bringing out in all of us.

Two wars, open corruption in Washington, trillion dollar deficits, blue-collar socialism and elite capitalism, a failed financial system--and the fate of our country hinges on a matter or race.

Women, willing to vote for a candidate that has absolutely nothing in common with "their" own political views.

Millions of blue collar workers lining up behind the McCain campaign, knowing the Republican ticket has never favored unions, increasing the minimum wage, or equal pay for women etc. etc.

At the core, a decision is being made in the minds of millions of whites in this country: "I know it's bad, I know I'm a hell of a lot worse off than I was 8 years ago, I know my sons are dying in a war we shouldn't be in, I know the wealthy are raping the financial and physical resources of this country right out from under our noses, I know our jobs are being shipped overseas, I know that this is the most corrupt presidency in the history of this country, I know there is an untested candidate who would be a heartbeat away from the presidency."

"But, I would rather tread through hell indefinitely than give the reigns over to an African American--a man whose views, concerns, aspirations, and biography so closely mirrors my own."

This will be a shaking up of America. This is the "water circling the drain". We win or lose...permanently....as a nation in this election.

This election will expose America for what it really is in the eyes of the world--one way or the other.
  • Reason0Politics1 · 1 year ago
nice sarcasm! and guess what... fox and friends viewers indeed are the deciding factor. so, ya, Im not even sure this nation is worth saving at this point. cull the herd!
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
this happens every week day morning of the world...first, the wingnuts fantasize about McPalin and her sidekick, and by the end of the day, the truth about them has trickled out....don't give up!
  • grandma · 1 year ago
    60,000...another lie:

    From the Miami Herald:

A fire rescue official estimated the crowd at 25,000 to 30,000, while the Republican Party of Florida pegged the audience at twice that size.

  • Reason0Politics1 · 1 year ago
it is sickeningly comedic exactly HOW MUCH traction McBush is getting with the old "Obama's a BIG spender" shit.... despite the ongoing trillions of dollars being lost by the current GOP. but more GOP will be differnet? You really cant even argue with a moron thats buying into that shit..you cant argue with kool aide and prozac
  • ImpureScience · 1 year ago
Part of me is wondering why on Earth Obama's campaign agreed to a dumbed-down VP debate format to accommodate Sarah Palin's lack of experience.

The other part is wondering when will they make the ad talking about how the VP debate format was changed for poor Sarah due to her lack of experience, but that this option is NOT AVAILABLE IN THE REAL WORLD?!
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
i think Palin is a win/win for the dems. no matter what the debate format is, once she opens her mouth, we win.

all the people who see Palin/McCain as the Great White Hope will believe she is wonderful. But the independent undecideds will hear that what actually comes out of her mouth is incoherent bullshit.
  • Reason0Politics1 · 1 year ago
you have way too much beliefe in there being any level at all of common sense in the amerikan sheeple...way too much...sorry to point that out, but ya..palin = the win for mcbush. i dont think anything will change that now.
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
no, i'm right there with you on what a lost cause the amerikan sheeple are...i'm saying there aren't enough of them this time. we just have to out vote them.
  • High Crimes & Misdemeanors · 1 year ago
TLS is right on. I think we should just forget about trying to convince the REPUKE mindset. We need to leave those folks behind. It's our job to try and convince the independents and those who have not voted yet, and those fence sitters. Have documents with you when you debate, have your Iphone ready with facts, send them emails. talk about politics!!!!
  • ImpureScience · 1 year ago
    I hope you're right.

I've been getting the feeling that there aren't that many people who can tell the difference between sense and complete drivel any more. My fear is that expectations for Sarah will be lowered to the point where, like Bush, any statement made without drooling will be seen as pithy and meaningful.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
    Agree.

Bush spouted a bunch of Repub talking points during his debate, and was viewed as the winner against Gore.

American Voters are dumb: the Repub has to be eviscerated (as Kerry did to Bush in their first debate) for them even to concede the Repub might have lost.

I'm sure these rules were written to make evisceration impossible.

So, Palin will just spout Repub talking points, and everybody will rave how she "stood up" to Biden.

    Arghh.

TLS - I may stand corrected. My thought process is that the FED wouldn't let those two giants go down. They are the last two pillars in the house of cards. I wonder if this was the plan all around? If the our financial system were to go down, it's and easy way to declare martial law, NO?
Get ready for hyper-inflation. Throwing money at this criminal FED is merely keeping them on resuscitation. The US economy is bankrupt and all the FED is doing is throwing money into a system that is corrupt. Congress has abdicated its role. Pitch Forks and Torches anyone??

p.s. i taking my money out Washington Mutual today. putting the cash under my bed, not sure if that will do anything, but at least i'll have cash.
  • Sage24 · 1 year ago
No one can really say that McPain is not skilled in debating. After having served so many years in Congress, he has to be good at it. So let's not accept all the BS about him being unable to be a skilled debater etc. As for Palin, its appallin' that they have negotiated that she be treated like a kid, and that the format has been adjusted to suit her training wheels. All that pathological liar has to do, is turn up and say a few words, and her base will think she is Einstein. You cannot blame them for that, because they identify with, and are like, her.
These are the people who voted for Bush/Cheney twice.
  • grandma · 1 year ago
The Biden camp should not have agreed to the negotiations to change the debate format.....geeeshhhh
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
Funnily enough, even the Obama camp is downplaying expectations for the debates, acknowledging that it's not his strong suit (even though he had to endure 20 with Hillary). So: for ALL three male candidates, it's a minefield out there (according to the pundits like Broder) Obama can't come across as too exotic or halting; Biden can't beat up on the little girl; McCain can't have senior moments; Sarah just has to be herself and it's a slam dunk for her.
  • grandma · 1 year ago
I'd like to see some headlines this morning disputing that 60,000 showed up to see Palin I'm seeing everywhere...

A fire rescue official estimated the crowd at 25,000 to 30,000, while the Republican Party of Florida pegged the audience at twice that size.

    BTW:

    Rick Davis will never quit.

    He's just like KKKarl.

He wants to ride McCain to the White House so he can make domestic policy.

    And he'll never be fired.

Also because he's just like KKKarl.

He'll start spilling all the dirt he has on McCain if McCain turns on him.
  • Indigo · 1 year ago
McCain's entire debate content will feature every known form of veiled racism. He has nothing else to say.
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
the right's attempt to "otherize" Obama, ie keep saying he's a muslim anti-christ, is one good reason to focus on Palin. When people see her religious fundamentalist history, she'll be the biggest "other". Obama can't do this, but someone should get on it.

PBS is doing a poll which asks if Palin is qualified to be VP. The
right wing has organized a yes campaign--and the "yes" is at the

Thanks for the good link. I am white, but I am getting so worn out and frustrated by all the hoops Obama has had to jump through. As he said to the black caucus, he has had to bite his tongue so many times during the primaries, and he continues to have to do it now. It reminds me of the early sixties when I came of age. We would go into a bar or restaurant (in Bloomington, IN!) with a black in the group who would be insulted and not served. The times, they have not a-changed very much. i can't say enough for our black Democrats who have acted with utmost restraint during this election.
  • imjussayin · 1 year ago
It will probably take the blogosphere and some independent journalist to investigate this in order to raised its profile so MSM will pick it up. They're a lot like Congress in this respect. It takes a while before they're aware of what the rest of us already know about.

Another question is how many more members of McCain's campaign are going to be discovered having ties to those responsible for our country's many conditions before voters see the real John McCain?
  • naschkatzehussein · 1 year ago
Since they switched the topics and are doing foreign policy first and domestic policy last, I would think that Obama would be the one with low expectations. McCain has argued repeatedly that he has all the foreign policy experience and Obama none. Also, there are always low expectations for Obama's delivery: he's too professorial, gives too long and complicated answers, he stutters too much without a teleprompter. I think Obama, who was the instigator, was smart to make the switch.
  • tommytoonz · 1 year ago
McCain only "wins" debates because he gives very short answers that sound "tough". The media loves them some short answers that sound tough as Bob Woodward on the Chris Matthews show repeatedly said Obama had to be, i.e. it's better to sound tough than to be smart. Debates are about expectations and spin, and I'd recommend everyone begin that today. It's unfortunate the debate isn't on the Economy but no matter, Obama is on the right side of both issues but he's going to need a lot of help to overcome the media's bias against him personally and his style when it comes to debates.
