AMERICAblog: More coverage of Hillary's assassination remarks

  • lapiltz · 1 year ago
    1. Clinton subtly portrayed Obama as a closeted Muslim.
    2. Clinton portrayed Obama as unpatriotic, ridiculously linking him to Ayers.
    3. Clinton stirred up racial animosity toward Obama by using Jeremiah Wright as a whipping boy, and before that through various subtle slanders and racial stereotyping.
    4. Clinton also spread the slander that Obama is not the "kind" of person who would keep America safe.
    5. Clinton, therefore, intentionally stirred up racial, religious, and jingoistic hatred and paranoia against Obama.
    6. Clinton also uncoincidentally repeatedly brought up the spectre of assassination in various ways and contexts, which shows what's really on her mind of minds, her hope of hopes, the hope that should have not dared to speak.
    7. There is a pattern here, and it is one of hubris and ambition and malice. It is reckless endangerment not just of Obama but of the American political system. It is a crime of subtle intent that reveals that if her dark fantasy were to come true, Clinton would barely be perturbed and would have no problem whatsoever becoming the nominee.
    8. Clinton is unfit for office and should resign from the campaign and the Senate.

    Thanks for writing this.

Everything about her is so classy. She apologises from the middle of salad dressing isle.
  • tbhull · 1 year ago
It was liquor behind her. I think McCain's daddy in law paid her for that placement.

Vince Foster's ghost just committed suicide.

Instead of being numb and diddling themselves on this the likes of Donna Brazile and James Clyburn need to announce NOW!
  • preznit_giv_me_turkee · 1 year ago
her remark reminds me of the "call me, harold" tacked on to the end of the Harold Ford ad last time around. no reason to mention assassination for a second time unless she's dogwhistling dixie
  • scytherius · 1 year ago
Is all this Hillary's fault? Not at all. It's the fault of the Super Delegates. If they made it clear she had no hope, she'd stop.

Coming out of lurk mode to say thank you John and Americablog for taking a stand and standing firmly on your convictions.
It's most refreshing and encouraging when other blogs try to remain 'neutral'.

ezpz, Thanks for joining the fray. Feel free to give me hell when you disagree. This blog needs more "thinking" people...
  • ezpz · 1 year ago
    Thanks. Will do.

My edit period has expired, but to correct my last comment, I left out the word "especially"

S/B: It's most refreshing and encouraging, *ESPECIALLY* when other blogs try to remain 'neutral'.

You have to wonder what her rabid supporters are thinking tonight. Other then that everyone is being just so mean to poor Hillary.
It is apparent that Hillary doesn't get why her remarks caused such outrage. Amazing for a first lady with a secret service detail of her own how she doesn't get it.
  • stranded · 1 year ago
She gets it. She knows exactly what she's doing. She's the internet troll of the Democratic Party.
  • KISSman · 1 year ago
I've actually tried to put my bias aside and try to hear the statement with the ears of a regular person and everytime I listen to it, I get an uneasy chill.

I then thought, well, she kind of stammers a little right after she says it so maybe she realized that she has just blundered. But when you listen to her 'apology' that lacked any "I'm sorry" to Obama and the fact that she has made similar remarks before, I couldn't find a way to let her off the hook there either.

The only thing I can come up with is that she used an unnecessary graphic description when she was pointing out that RFK was still campaigning into June, but the fact that she has basically said this assassination stuff before proves that it's not just a slip of the tongue. It's just really hard to to see it as accidental or that she at least sorta mean what she said.

I think a lot of folks are going to stuggle to see it as a simple 'oops' moment. You really have to think way too deeply about it and have a hell of an open mind to possibly believe this was an innocent remark.

And once again, why are the Republicans Hillary's best friends on TV?? Pat Buchanan and Tony Perkins both basically defended Clinton tonight while Keith Olbermann is giving her the Dubya treatment (and deservedly so). I mean, seriously, WTF?!?

It's just so bizarre that every time we see shows that feature liberals and conservatives talking about Obama/Clinton, every single Republican supports Hillary. I swear, if I supported this woman and noticed that trend, I'd have to wonder why the enemy is so kind to my candidate.
  • lapiltz · 1 year ago
well, yeah, Republicans know they can beat Hillary. she is so hard to like, poor dear

also, yeah, the repeated attempt to draw the RFK parallel is intentional, part of a slanderous campaign to annihilate Obama as a candidate, and even as a living human being in a metaphorical sense to be sure

but also in a literal sense, in the living world of potential and imagination (in voters' minds)

to the nihilist, hope springs eternal in someone else's misfortune

and she has manifested her latent nihilism this year
  • notanumber · 1 year ago
Can we now be done with saying that Hillary is not a racist?
  • Jessica54 · 1 year ago
And this is the final nail in the coffin for black democratic voters. Kudos, Hill. I knew you had it in you.

But, seriously, I have to wonder: Does Hillary just not give a shit about black voters? Over the course of this campaign, she and her campaign surrogates have utilized racism to their advantage. It has become obvious now she takes the black voting bloc for granted.

Putin was right when he said, "At a minimum, a head of state should have a head" in regards to Hillary. For someone so intelligent, why in the world would she raise the specter of assassination in a race against a black candidate?

    There is no justifiable explanation.

    From the St. Petersburg Times:

"Her remarks stunned the political world, including many of her own supporters, and by the end of the day she expressed her regrets. But the damage has been done, and it could be the gaffe that moves the remaining unpledged superdelegates to throw their support to Obama to bring this campaign to an end. The kindest view of Clinton's comments was that she is suffering from campaign fatigue. She clearly needs some rest."

Yes, that would be the "kindest view" to say the least. Link:

    Wow!

    That's just amazing!

Andrew Sullivan has to work out to get that body?

    (Sorry, couldn't resist.)
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
On the purely political level, this takes the pressure off Obama to make her Veep.

I think even some Hillbots would see why he wouldn't want a Veep who's waiting for his assassination.
  • Steve_in_CNJ · 1 year ago
somewhat lost in the discussion of the RFK remark is hillary's reference to the 1992 primary campaign. it's not a good analogy. after his loss in the NY primary in April 1992, Jerry Brown still had a chance to end up with the majority of delegates if he could win big in his home state of California. that's why the campaigning went until June that year. when bill clinton won CA by 6 or 7 points, it was over. this is not really analogous to the 2008 campaign, in which hillary clinton has had no chance since March.
  • fairminded3 · 1 year ago
RFK Jr. has this to say,

"I have heard her make this reference before, also citing her husband's 1992 race, both of which were hard fought through June. I understand how highly charged the atmosphere is, but I think it is a mistake for people to take offense."
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
Hey, she said it. Go figure. Maybe she's covering all the angles. Maybe the Vince Foster killers are after Obama. Who knows?
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
t's a "whiskey river" deal. I'm going to bed.........
  • scottinsf · 1 year ago
Her insensitive and inappropriate remarks and her failure to apologize to Obama spell the end of the road. Look for a slew of new superdelegates for Obama.
  • Daquain · 1 year ago
Folks, we've got to keep this story alive. Gay bloggers like Matthew Drudge and Andrew Sullivan are the best. Politico is willing to work with the Obama campaign too. All I know is that if in some bizarre scenario, Barrack somehow manages to lose the election to McCain, we need to place the blame on Hillary. Right now the whole nation, both Democrats and Republicans, are receptive to the idea that the Clintons are pure evil. It's critical that we keep that meme alive. It will protect Obama's image in case he loses and preserve his reputation for a 2012 run.
