AMERICAblog: "More of the Same" War Room in St. Paul

  • jescot · 1 year ago
Some questions I have this morning.

    1) Do you think the RNC will honor the aggrement of openess and allows our people as much access to their convention as ours.
    2) Do you think the MSM will do stories about tensions within the RNC with Ron Paul ala Clinton and their platform?
    3) Do you think there will be a kerfuffle about Bush being present or not being present for McCain's coranation?
    4) Will the MSM debunk any untruths said on the floor next week in real time?
    5) Will Fox news be as much of a circus or will they take their own convention very seriuosly(he asked with a wink)?
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
I think the RNC will allow as many people into their convention as they can... I'm sure they'll screen them to make sure they're getting GOP members, but they need to pack the house as few of their delegates are planning on attending the convention.

even if they have to bus people in, they'll pack the place.

Ron Paul won't even be mentioned, even if he does show up.

the media will mention chimpy not being there, but will quickly drop the topic.

    'No More Lies 08'
    seriously.
  • jcgraham77 · 1 year ago
What is the old saying? "I will beleive it when I see it???" More soft-tongued half hearted crap from the DNC. Whatever. And why does my ability to spell go away each time i comment LOL
  • ZennButtKicker (tlhwraith) · 1 year ago
Amen, I actually have to commend Hillary Clinton for doing her best impression of a baton toss last night, but now it is squarely in the hands of the DNC and Obama to win this thing. They have every advantage on earth, and I think that if they just show a little spine, a little bit of cajones, more people will become enthusiastic supporters instead of just not wanting to see the gOP back in office.

Obama, I know you don't want to fight dirty, but it is time to fight. You can throw a good punch and maintain your integrity too, the people need to know you can throw down in a fight, we already know you are the more intelligent candidate.

    John McCain is Bush's sidekick.

    His short, senile sidekick.
  • News Nag · 1 year ago
Hang Bush: The Dems need to hang 50-foot banners of Bush's chimpy face from buildings all around the GOP Convention site, and also outside the airport for when media and delegates arrive.

Also the Dems need to give out hundreds of Bush masks for people to wear outside the Convention site, and even to slip them on if they can get inside!
  • HereinDC · 1 year ago
    The Masks are great idea

    .
    Bush08=McCain08
  • JoyceH · 1 year ago
The Dems need to sharpen that message to "WORSE than more of the same". McCain would not be a third Bush term, he'd be a first Cheney term. Remember that this is the guy who started lobbying for the Iraq invasion SIX MONTHS before Bush and Cheney did.

As Dumb As Bush, More Reckless Than Cheney!
  • Django · 1 year ago
    Slightly OT, but:

    Floyd James Thompson
The Dems need to find this guy PRONTO - hopefully by Thursday night!

The Democratic War Room is no good when we have the Clintons and their supporters cannibalizing Obama from within while the rest of us talk about how great their speeches were.
  • Fireblazes(CheetohsandCatfood) · 1 year ago
econprofes is another republican puma. Besides you already admitted you have not listened to the speeches.
  • econprofes · 1 year ago
No my friend I am not someone who is against party unity and I am definitely not a Republican. I am a former company commander who saw two 18 year old young men get their heads blown off in a war we should have never been involved in. This is the first time I have ever seen candidates within a party, competing for that party’s nomination; say the other party’s nominee is more qualified to be Commander in Chief than someone in your own party, even if you are running against that person. This is breaking new ground in self inflicted cannibalism.
The position I am advocating is simple. Until Hillary, Joe Biden and any other political figures renounce the statement that OUR nominee is not ready to be Commander in Chief then there will never be party unity and Barack will never be president. I know Barack is ready to be Commander in Chief. If Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, George Bush and Dick Cheney would have listen to Barack those young men would probably be alive today. I said he is ready to be Commander in Chief , will you say it, if not then you are the one who is against party unity and maybe you are the covert Republican.
  • Fireblazes(CheetohsandCatfood) · 1 year ago
You are repeating GOP talking points.

"It seems to be a very technical speech about being a Democrat, supporting (Obama) as a Democrat, but she never answered the big question (on whether he was ready)," Republican former New York City mayor and unsuccessful presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani told CNN.
  • econprofes · 1 year ago
You made the accusation that I was against party unity and I was a Republican. I said Barack is ready to be Commander in Chief will you say it? You have yet to say it. If not, why won’t you say it? Maybe its because you believe like the Republicans.
  • Fireblazes(CheetohsandCatfood) · 1 year ago
LOL hilarious, what are you OCD?
  • News Nag · 1 year ago
Hi, Fireblazes. I think you should answer the question. Why not? Does the other guy "win" and have a bigger penis than you if you answer? Sheesh, grow up, both of you.
  • Fireblazes(CheetohsandCatfood) · 1 year ago
I think it is silly for people to be required to fit some narrow litmus test. Hillary has said over and over that she supports Barack Obama, that we must elect Barack Obama. Then all of a sudden we have the same people that were demanding that she unequivocally state her support say it was not enough. SHE DID IT, last night over and over. Now we have people that for whatever reason seem to be demanding that she use a very narrowly chosen set of words. That unless she uses these exact words then she has not stated she will support Obama. Oddly I read this same statement demanding this narrow set of words be used in several different comment boards by several differant people. Now everyone has the right to an opinion, but if these people are really Obama supporters, and not people out to sow division within our party, then they are no different than the Clinton supporters that are demanding the sun the moon and the stars to support Obama.
Hillary retracting her earlier unfortunate statements would only divert media attention away from the build-up to Thursday. I personally am more concerned about having a good president, the commander in chief stuff relies on good judgment. Obama will be a great president. I have faith that his judgment will make him a great CIC. John McCain is a crazy old man and must not be elected period! He will be a bad president and an insane, lousy, short-tempered Commander in Chief. He will destroy what is left of our eroded rights and kill many hundreds if not thousands of our Troops.
  • News Nag · 1 year ago
I don't disagree with anything you said. I think I misunderstood what OCD guy was trying to elicit. Actually we can't undo the past. Must look and move forward. Agreed. Thanks for persisting and explaining. Sorry.
  • econprofes · 1 year ago
Sorry I took so long to get with you, I had to go to a meeting. I am not compulsive; I just call people out who accuse me or someone else of being something they are.

The Onion: Cheney To Speak At Republican Convention From Section 109, Row 56, Seat 3

"Cheney is expected to cover a variety of hot-button issues, including the war in Iraq, Barack Obama, the conflict in Georgia, the idiots they have speaking at these things, legroom, the workers at the concession stand, the heat in this frigging place, and President Bush's tie."

I thought Hillary's speech did just about all that was needed.
The press is trying to stir up dissension among Hillary diehards today, but I think 90% will vote for O.
Maybe tonight Bill will opine from his lofty tower that Obama is ready to be president. O is certainly as ready as Lincoln, Truman, and probably many others including Clinton.
  • ucsbclassics53 · 1 year ago
You know what would be perfect? Have an ad with McCain's face morphing into Bush's face...
  • FatRat · 1 year ago
-----Bush = McCain = More of the same. It's not that complicated. And, the Republicans really don't want to hear it.-----

"...Effective propaganda must limit its points of a few and these points must be repeated until even the last member of the audience understands what is meant by them."

The Nazis understood the value of propaganda.

The Republicans have long understood the value of "talking points" and "staying on message". Faux news is Pravda meets capitalism. The Republicans are much better at propaganda than their rival party.

Finally the Democrats are catching on. It all about driving home the message.

As a post yesterday on TPM sattes "More of the Same" is a missed opportunity. It should be "More of the same and worse."
  • Mark in Florida · 1 year ago
I think it's great. In spite of what the media says, we are more organized, have a better candidate and have the issues on our side.
  • Beckins · 1 year ago
more than a little O/T.....i'll bet the GOP's a little on edge. next week is their convention. next week a (forcasted) strong hurricane will be hitting somewhere along the Gulf Coast. can you say "sweating with the oldies"?
