AMERICAblog: More on CNN's debate poll. Not good for Palin at all.

Biden wins because he addressed the questions.

Palin spewed a bunch of coached sound bytes.

Prepare for the Landslide Punitive Election of 2008.

I simply do not get the American public. Some attractive woman cannot answer direct questions, mocks and attacks, wants more power than Dick Cheney and they think she is great. I thought the public was in voting Bush in 2004 but this is just nuts.

I can think of no worse scenario than to have this woman as a president should McCain be elected and die in office.

Palin's folksy "awe shucks" style does not cut it.

America's had it with almost eight years of a guy who pretended to be an average joe.

We need a President and Vice President who are intellectually curious, pays attention to details, has integrity, has experience, and compassion for the middle- and lower-economic classes.

    NY Times weighs in:

The Republicans have tried to present the negative reaction to Ms. Palin as a matter of liberal elites sneering at someone who does not share their privileged backgrounds. That is a distraction. The problem with Ms. Palin’s candidacy, which she underscored in her appearance at the debate on Thursday night, is not that she didn’t attend a fancy school or go backpacking in Europe after college. It is her disdain for knowledge, education, experience and contemplative leadership.

Thank you for that link. The editorial was brilliant and said the things I am feeling about Sarah Palin

david brooks declared she was biden's "equal". mark shields responded by saying a lot of democrats were disappointed she didn't do worse. PBS needs to fire these two morons. they are a disgrace.

Greta should really have brought some military enlisters with her to the debate. All those nice Repub kids would probably jump at the chance to tour Iraq for free.

I think Palin was mostly good on style, but abominable on substance. And she likes to lie as much as McCain.
    Goodnight all.

I'm watching the debate replay and it's disgusting how palin uses her 'folksy-talk' bs to lie to people who believe her because of it. She lies to the people least able to defend against it.
  • mirth · 1 year ago
And it comes out of a mean-looking mouth. Piled on lipstick can't disguise that and neither can folksy talk.
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
Does she remind you of Bush? She did me, remember Bush the "good old boy" used his Texas drawl to make people think he was just "one of them". Folksy is what is being printed and said of her style but to me it smacks hypocrisy. Americans should be insulted to think they need to be talk to like they are some backwoods hillbillies.

Wow, I can't believe that she actually winks at us. What does this say about how smart she thinks we are? I wouldn't even buy a used car from her. The thought that she could be, as Jack Cafferty put it, "one 72 year-old's heart beat away from the Presidency" is truly frightening. I find her whole candidacy insulting and the epitome of what is cynical, dysfunctional and insane about our political system. It should be mentioned that if McCain had actually had his way, Biden would have been debating someone else tonight. Instead the Christian conservatives put Palin in the VP slot just like they and others on the far right have put words in his mouth. Way to go maverick! -B

Loved the "extra credit" comment from Sarah. Obviously she knows a lot about getting extra credit., evidenced by her diploma and her degree. She is a dismal, mediocre person who has no business in the discussion of our country's tough issues.

Palin won this one hands down. McCain/Palin all the way!
  • mlbencinitas · 1 year ago
plk . . . are you just trying to rile us up? You cannot possibly think that.

What planet are you from. One more thing what kind of a mother is she to have that baby out amongs all those people and lights. That little one deserves to be home in bed. She uses her children for her political career nothing else...

Maybe that was a twitch, not a wink? Surely someone seeking the second highest position in the most powerful nation in the world, wouldn't WINK in a cutsy mannor to the people who are trying to decide who shall govern them?!?...Naaah
