AMERICAblog: "Mr. Bush has sometimes seemed invisible during the housing and credit crunch"
CDS2

Has anyone niticed that this stuf is all occuring since the Democrats took control of Congress? What hppened to gas pricess since they took over? What happened to unemployment since they took over? What happened to the stock market since they took over....Unemployment ? The housing problem....inflation ? Hard to say that the Dem's have been successful in solving any problems, but easy to say that the began when they took over Congress.
lynchie

CDS2: your implication is that it is the dems fault. In one year they have driven the economy into the toilet. I think not, though i won't put it past McStain to say that in the coming months. The GOP have been running this country for the past 14 years. They had control during Bill's last term as well. I think you will remember the money and energy pissed away trying to prove he got a hummer. The gutting of every department and its oversight was done by the GOP. The appointment of every incompetent boob who could spell Chimpy to run those departments (Ashcroft, Gonzalez, Rumsfeld, Brown) spellled the end for America.

When Bush took over, we were in the early stages of a recession. Every single one of the bloggers on this site blamed Bush for the recession. It's how things are. The party in charge get's the applause, or the boos. The Dem's are in charge, Bush can't do anything without their approval. Yet, their reason for being, so they told us, was to get us out of Iraq. So what do they continue to do.......FUND IT. Ya can't have it both ways.
ldlew

So you admit that we were on the early stages of a recession and the bush and friends put us into a recession. Good point CDS2
CDS2
Sorry you misread my comment. Bush got us out of the recession caused by Clinton.
ldlew
And then put us back in to recession...outstanding logic
CDS2
What do you have a crystal ball. We are not in a recession. There is a threat of a recession, but I doubt we will get that far with the Fed pouring money into the economy.
ldlew
And where does that money come from....China, Japan? With each loan, our dollars are worth less. The less it is worth, the more it takes to keep our economy going. Where does this money go...China, Japan? No glass balls are needed...my check book shows me that we have a problem. Printing money doesn't mean anything...it is what you can change that money to purchase. A technical explaination of a recession means nothing to the average person....only what they can get with the money that they have.
ldlew

I see that you are an idiot just like bush, greenspan, and cheney. This goes back to deregulation starting with Clinton when the repugs were in charge of Congress.

I agree that "invisible" is not the best word to use to describe Bush under the circumstances -- but then again, I don't think "clueless" quite captures the spirit of the thing either. The word I would use is OBLIVIOUS...
For a man who came into office as the nation’s first M.B.A. president,
The question is, did he earn it or did daddy buy it for him?
Bluestocking

Well, according to Dr. Yoshi Tsurumi -- a professor of economics who was a visiting associate member of the faculty at Harvard Business School while Bush was a student there and who taught him for at least two semesters -- Bush was not a good student, so it seems safe to assume that the answer leans toward the latter. When I was in graduate school at an Ivy League school, a final grade lower than B- in *any* class was considered grounds for immediate dismissal from the program -- and if a prestigious school like Harvard University had anything like a similar policy in place while Bush was, it seems quite possible that he was allowed to remain in the program regardless of whether his grades were up to scratch or not. For that matter, it's known that Bush's grades when he was an undergraduate at Yale weren't exactly stellar -- so one is inclined to wonder just how he managed to get into Harvard in the first place.

If McCain steals the election, we will be stuck with four more years of clueless.
McCain already admits he does not understand the economy.
That is dangerously incompetent.
CDS2

Tom3, McCain won't need to steal the election. The Democrats are fighting for who will be their nominee, when neither one of them can possibly win in a General Election.

If any in government had responded with action to Senator Obamas letter on the mortgage crisis last year, then the problems would not have been so deep and widespread. Another example of Obamas good judgement contrasted with the Bush ignorance of what is going on in America.
Bush_Bites

BTW:
I think Bush is just dodging the mortgage meltdown.
Remember, the centerpiece of his domestic agenda was "The Ownership Society." In fact, one of his reelection themes was the number of new homeowners. And, indeed, there is some evidence that his administration stopped state officials from enforcing laws against deceptive mortgage practices because they wanted to get that number up.
Now that it's apparent these people are becoming ex-homeowners, he's running as fast as he can from the whole mess.

The president's been invisible?!?!?! the guy can't tie his own shoes and you really think he's knows what's going on with the economy or that gas will be over $4 a gallon this summer? All Bush is concerned about is keeping the war going while letting the economy tank and leaving it for the next president to worry about. All his corporate friends have already reaped the financial benefits of his pro business stance and to hell with the average citizen. Invisible?!?! No, the guy is just out to lunch and never has been palying with a full deck.

Mr. Bush is a criminal who should be impeached for lying to the American public about the reasons for the Iraq war. Mr. Bush is a criminal who should be impeached for continuing to allow torture in the name of the American people, in direct violation of the Geneva Conventions. Mr. Bush is a criminal who should be impeached for any number of a dozen reasons. He should be tried, found guilty, and imprisoned for the rest of his sad, miserable life.

The Fed wants to bail out the big banks by handing out 45 billion dollars. Like they need it. If they want to save the economy sending $600 to everyone is a joke. Why not take that 45 billion and send it to 45 million homes in amounts of $100,000? That would surely save people from losing their homes and the money would end up in the coffers of the big banks eventually anyhow.
As usual, the troll lies - why do people engage the troll?

Here's a novel idea. If you don't have the money, don't spend it. That doesn't only include government (they just keep spending away...), but also those morons who make $30,000/year and live in $500,000 houses. The president does get some blame on this one and he is clueless, but what about the idiots who don't do any research on mortgages that think ARM's and interest-only were the greatest things since sliced bread?!? I have no sympathy for those people, even when the president and congress are to blame.
