let Hillary throw her tantrums she'll end up sitting alone in the corner
i've been thinking about all the opportunities obama has had to attack Hillary (and McCain) using their own tactics, and he hasn't. and he's leading. that takes wisdom and heart and discipline. wow.

I'm sure Hillary's donors would take their money straight back to Columbia, or Tel Aviv, or some other equally dubious location if they don't get what they expect.

There's a concern here folks, and this is the quiet dealings of the Obama campaign to pay off Hillary's debts. I'm hoping the Huffington post got this one wrong. Otherwise, it would be the first betryal of Obama to his suppporters.

when barack is the nominee and he asks that his donors give to the DNC for 1 day, watch the money flow in.
he is a link t all superdelegates, how they are voting, and who is still not committed.
josh marshall makes a great point this morning as well...
imagine our outrage if a GOPer had made the remark about hardworking white American voters, just before primaries in West Virginia...

The immediate problem with Penn -- whose conflicts of interest plagued the Clinton campaign and ultimately led to his being publicly, if not privately, repudiated -- is that if Obama helps Clinton pay off her debts, a big chunk of those debts -- an estimated $10 million or more -- is owed to Penn.
I sure don't want to donate any more money to Obama if any of it is going to go to Penn.

Grandma, Obama is only going to put Clinton's camp in touch with donors who can help raise her the money she needs. He is not giving Clinton any of his own money donated by us. That is his. The way it is explained is that he can help with finding her ways to raise some cash but, our money is not going to her. It's staying with Obama.

Grandma (17 mis ago)- no worries. Campaign finance law prohibits Obama from paying off Hillary's debt. All he can do is encourage donations toward that effort. Your contributions will never end up in her hands. Bottom line, camp Hillary is holding the primary ransom. Too bad for her that no one gives a shit about their debt. Let her stay and become even more irrelevant. If we're lucky, she'll campaign herself straight out of the US Senate.

i thought the whole idea of the obama campaign was to stop bailing out millionaires. hillary can pay her own bills. besides, what has she done that would warrant bailing her out?

I am one of the powerful - haha. I have been part of that spigot for over a year and it's the power of us, the people, to shove it in the faces of these rich and formerly powerful elitie that thinks they can still control the government and politics. The Obama coalition is part of the larger effort to take back our government and country from the powerful few. So, Hillary's big time donors can threaten all they want. Pelosi knows the era of Clinton, with it's big money control, is over and the people will help and support her if need be.

Joe wondered in an earlier post if Billary would be able to leave the campaign with dignity and class. I've begun to wonder if they ever had any. Her remarks yesterday about race were completely crude. Why would anyone want to vote for her for president> Her behavior is certainly not presidential.
IMNSHO, the longer Hillary goes on, the less interest Obama representatives will have in trying to accomodate her. Her bargaining power diminishes by the hour. So does her bank account.

Great post header. I couldn't agree more. Though the long term goal should be publicly financed elections, the short term goal should be to buy back the Democratic party from the big donors so that we can achieve the long term goal.

Oh c'mon John -- you HAVE to remember "Square Pegs," right? That's how I learned how to spell "clique." You might have forgotten because it starred some girl who went on to do a couple of other minor things and then disappeared.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Square_Pegs#Openin... Lauren: "I've got this whole high school thing psyched out. It all breaks down into cliques." Patty: "Cliques?" Lauren: "Yeah, you know. Cliques. Little in-groups of different kids. All we have to do is click with the right clique, and we can finally have a social life that's worthy of us." Patty: "No way! Not even with cleavage." Lauren: "I tell you, this year we're going to be popular." Patty: "...Yeah?" Lauren: "Yeah. Even if it kills us."
