AMERICAblog: National Review writer blasts House Republicans

  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
Mrs. Greenspan was reporting that Newt Gingrich was behind some of the defections, basically working against Boehner to get Repubs to reject the bill.

According to some congresspeople, Newt is viewing this as his first battle for the 2012 nomination.

Rove era balderdash is coming to an end. But don't you love it when Boehner whines like a three year old?

Did he have any of those laughable FAKE TEARS?

How sad to think that it took something that egregious for the Republicans to do before someone in their own party could criticize them. And only because they were caught red handed.

In ancient Rome, the Praetorian Guard would have helped Caesar transfigure himself into a god by sending him to heaven, and then appointed a new emperor to reorganize the bureaucracy and refresh the victim supply for the colosseum. We're so genteel we don't do things like that.

    John Joe please listen.
First -if you want to learn about the markets from knowledgable people who SAW THIS COMING there are much better webites than what you've just posted. Nouriel Roubini is a person that definitely comes to mind. So is rick ackerman and Michael Mishkin and Ben Bittrolff and Reggie Middleton.
Second- If this bailout is so good and these CDO's,MBS's and all the rest are such good deals to the taxpayer then why don't the RICH people snap them up. They did when they made money but now they can't get rid of them fast enough.
Third- You risk the solvency of the United States by adding more debt to the Ten Trilion we already have.
Fourth- No on has decicied in this bill which banks are worth saving and which are not. If you throw money at crappy bank you just burn it.
Fifth- Ben Bernanke injected 630 Billion in Monday morning when the passage of the bill was a given. It still didn't unlock the credit markets.

The deleveraging needs to take palce on the 1 Quadrillion derivatives that are floating around. Lets do some math

If 3% of these derivatives fail than that equals three trillion
For every dollar failed you need 10-12 dollars of capitol to fix the lending problem because of the ratios the banks need, mandated by law, the banks need to keep lending.
Multiply 3trillion times 10/12 times the amount of capitol needed to reliquify the banks and the number is 24-36 trillion!!!!!!!!!!!
The US government can't possibly do this without ripping apart its solvency.
Thats why after 1.3trillion dollars of rescue money the credit markets aren't anywhere close to being unlocked. Anyone reading this post please repost it so Joe and John will start to REALLY think about what this bailout means.
I am a hardcore Democrat who is precinct captain here in Colorado and I love Obama. This bailoput bill is wrong on so many levels.

Dennis Kucinich explains the bill here.

Not only is NR the father of the "conservative moment," it's the father of the "conservative movement". So that would be two things, then.

It's started. These are Republicans that smell treason in the midst. Even they are starting to realize what their party is all about in wake of a financial meltdown. More and more of these Republicans are weighing in.

I'm still baffled (not really) how our congress, the representatives of the citizens of the United States (not really) can sleep at night knowing they were complicit along with the president of this country in allowing this crap to happen in the first place. I say vote the entire lot out of office, or better yet, just overthrow this crooked assed government of ours and start over. Hasn't that happend before? The 2008 elections will be rigged just as before so why bother wasting your time voting for either of the presidential candidates, who by the way, do NOT have your interest at heart?
