AMERICAblog: NBC declares Obama the presumptive nominee

Meanwhile, McBush is doing his best to look like your creepy great-uncle.
  • sittenpretty · 1 year ago
    bless you BHO
  • budpaul · 1 year ago
Wow, I just watched the McCain speech - this guy is painful to listen to, but in a different kind of way than when I listen to Bush. "That's not change we can believe in," so says McCain with his yellow smile.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
You'd think a guy whose been in politics so long would've gotten his teeth whitened or capped or something before he ran for president.

Guess he figures he looks more like FDR that way.
  • ShirleyGoodnessanMercy · 1 year ago
I can't wait to see Obama's two cute little girls running around the Oval office.

The Democrats can run a ton of TV ads with Republican politicians saying HORRIBLE things about McCain. A lot of Republicans have been taped saying a LOT of awful things about how disastrous a McCain presidency would be.
  • devis1 · 1 year ago
    Goosebumps moments!

    *SQUEE!*
  • LunaStick · 1 year ago
Not expecting hill to concede though. I'd be pleasantly surprised if she did but that would require more class than she has shown of late.

    YES!

    yep.....goosebumps !!!

    AwesomeO!

Desmond Tutu, the retired Anglican archbishop of South Africa:
Where else in the world would you ever have had anything like that? I mean an African-American being not just a credible candidate but one who has galvanized -- I mean, the number of young people who have come out and said, "Yes, we think it is actually possible to have a different kind of society." Only here.

    Nice one, America! ;-)

  • ShirleyGoodnessanMercy · 1 year ago
I love Desmond Tutu. He deserves sainthood a thousand times more than most current saints. He remains the only man on earth with the cajones to call Archibishop Akinola the asshole that he is (although Tutu uses more Christian language than calling him an asshole...).

But all the cable pundits are just obsessing about Hillary: will she be the Veep? Will she accept it? Would she be a good one? Will she subordinate herself? Can she? Umm, some black dude got the nomination? Huh. Will Hillary get the Veep slot? Will she accept it? Would she be a good VP? Will she...?
  • paulbot5 · 1 year ago
The neocons claim to have a video that will make obama lose, just hope its not real!
  • Nigel Elliott · 1 year ago
The Vietnamese claim they have tapes of traitor-to-his-service John McCain.
    Let's hope it's real. :-)

I was 7 years old in 1960, and went to the Rockford, Illinois airport to see JFK. My father held me on his shoulders so I could see him, and tonight I feel the same excitement.
  • mmedefarge · 1 year ago
I thought Shill was on at 9:00---what, does she want to cut into Obama's night? Of course she does....

Did I hear correctly that she is talking at Baruch college--Baruch is Hebrew for Barack. Is this not strange--of all the gin joints in a city the size of NY, she picks this one?
  • devis1 · 1 year ago
If I remember correctly Baruch was a women's college. The name irony is preety funny tho!!
  • mmedefarge · 1 year ago
I had an old boyfriend who went there in the 70's--it was solely for business degrees and was coed then
  • devis1 · 1 year ago
Actually, it was the first coed school in the CUNY system.

I'm sitting here in my living room watching Harold Ford profess his love for John McCain on MSNBC!

Another centrist stabbing the party in the back.
  • tas · 1 year ago
And they want him to be the new head of the DNC because somehow, Dean's 50 state strategy (which is electing Dems in solid red districts) just isn't making the DLC happy.
  • Miket298 · 1 year ago
Bless Anderson Cooker and Jeffry Toobin. Jeff was asked about Obama and said Woah what about McCain, that was the most pathetic speech I've seen him give.
  • ezpz · 1 year ago
I saw that and cracked up!!! That was truly priceless
  • FunMe · 1 year ago
msnbc gives South Dakota to Clinton at 57% vs 43% Obama.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
I never wrote or said anything about the Clinton supporters on a personal level or ever commented about Harriet Christian and the video. I understand what they wanted and longed for so I couldn't be mean although things were said to me. I know, as a gay guy, what it's like. So let's all come together and finally get the republicans out of there. They're the real enemy of humanity.
  • mmedefarge · 1 year ago
what Hillary has tried to do to Barack is equally as heinous as any kind of gay-bashing. How can you condone that?
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
Uh, it's about bringing the party together to take on the real enemy. The Clintons are all about themselves and are insignificant. The people are what matter, including her supporters. We need to quickly come together and defeat all the last 8 years and I intend to do my part to see that happen.
  • ShirleyGoodnessanMercy · 1 year ago
Dear God, I LOVE this web site... It's like Swift-boating for McCain:
    http://www.vietnamveteransagainstjohnmccain.com...
    Thank you Nigel!
  • paulbot5 · 1 year ago
neocons getting a taste of their own medicine I like it, hehe
  • Nigel Elliott · 1 year ago
The Clintons campaigned HARD in South Dakota. They probably had the chance to meet every single Democrat in the state.

Obama needs a MASSIVE ground operation to meet and greet people across the country. The media does nothing but gives the GOP an audience to air their smears and distraction from the issues, and for free.

Once people meet Obama. He has their vote permanently! ;-)

A smart charismatic articulate stable leader is what America needs after these eight dumb years of chaos under Bush.
  • LeslieB · 1 year ago
I agree. We can't take the race against McSame for granted. Whoops, did I just say McSame...sorry, McSame.
  • duchessofbilgewater · 1 year ago
    "Eight dumb years..." That's great!
  • Cjeffery · 1 year ago
I counted down the minutes until 8 o'clock CST. I knew shortly after the polls would close we would be able to kiss the primary season good bye and set are sites on Mcsame. It is time to unite and defeat the rethugs. God bless America.
  • LeslieB · 1 year ago
    Oh, Clinton is speaking now....
  • duchessofbilgewater · 1 year ago
    Wow! Is hillary being conciliatory????
  • tas · 1 year ago
She just dissed Montana in her first sentence.
  • RandyinAustin · 1 year ago
I can't believe it, but I've actually changed my mind on Drudge. I used to think he was just another GOP spinmeister, but the dude seems to have come around. He is giving a lot of positive coverage to glbt issues and even seems to be treating Obama fairly. Anyone know if his close friendship with activist Andrew Sullivan has impacted this transformation? Good for him.
  • Rustyzipper · 1 year ago
Gawwwwdd, I never thought this day would come.

Fired up..... ready to go :)

    WHY is hillary on TV?

MUTE button on until President Obama comes on.

When is Hillary going to ask for a donation?
  • Rustyzipper · 1 year ago
what the F%^k is she doing???

give it up Hill,, for the 1000's time
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
Clinton has not conceded, yes she said kind words about Obama BUT it sounds more like she WON the nomination. This woman is not done yet, she has more damage to inflict.
  • Nigel Elliott · 1 year ago
In Hillary's mind, Montana doesn't count...like the other states Obama "won".

  • njprogressive · 1 year ago
i can not believe her speech. she is still saying she is the stronger candidate. i really hate this woman.
  • duchessofbilgewater · 1 year ago
She's kinda rushing through it -- thank god. Let's get on with it. OBAMA!!
  • Bobby_Sambang · 1 year ago
Hillary Clinton at 21:37 just now claimed that she had won the popular vote in the Democratic Primary.

I actually and truly cannot believe she just did that.
  • RandyinAustin · 1 year ago
Where the hell are the tears from this #&%*!! She needs to be more humble when she loses big time. Billary is nothing but a shameless skank.
  • Rustyzipper · 1 year ago
I do believe she is giving speach for 2012, she is running already.

    gezzzzzzzzzzzzz

    .
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
Hillary begins by magnanimously recognizing everything the Obama campaign has "accomplished," without actually saying that what Obama has accomplished has WON the nomination!
  • duchessofbilgewater · 1 year ago
Wouldn't it be funny ... in a sad sort of way ... if they cut away from her and went right to Obama's victory speech??
  • ezpz · 1 year ago
That would truly be poetic justice!

    Just like this:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rhPxSm9Es0w
  • canuck55 · 1 year ago
Oh God! She is standing there saying that she has more votes than any primary candidate in history - implying illegitamacy of Obama's win. Counts every vote????
No concession, no acknowlegement of the truth.
Introduced by Terry M as the next president.
    "Stayed the course" Bushspeak
these people are self centered delusional whack jobs that don't give a damn about their party
    Incredible!
    Go away - Now!!
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
"Stayed the coarse". Seems I have heard that phrase before.
  • ezpz · 1 year ago
Well that didn't take long. Hillary gave a 13 second kudos to Obama and then Hillary Hillary Hillary...'...more people voted for me...yes we will...hillaryclinton dot com....I I I...women...pundits....bla bla bla'

    Puke!
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
No way is this woman going to unite this party, no way in hell.
  • SweetMelissa · 1 year ago
Hillary makes me so angry. She speaking right now as if she didn't lose. The gall of this witch is unbelievable. She needs to finally admit that Democrats rejected her ludicrous policies and hateful racist rhetoric. Wake up Billary, America hates you and your idiotic followers.
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
Those 90 year-old ladies have a LOT to answer for...
  • duchessofbilgewater · 1 year ago
    "hard working" code for what???
  • LeslieB · 1 year ago
She's telling her supporters she wants to unite the Democrats to take back the White House. Hope she means it.

she has something up her sleeve--is she seceding from the party?
  • duchessofbilgewater · 1 year ago
Maybe I'm overly optimistic, but she really does sound like she's bowing out ....
  • tas · 1 year ago
I want to end my responsibility for helping George Bush start a war based upon a lie.
  • risa87 · 1 year ago
The Democratic party doesn't need her "idiotic followers?" Say hello to President McCain.
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
This is probably the craziest "concession" speech I have ever heard. If you knew nothing about the candidates you would swear she won the election.
  • Rustyzipper · 1 year ago
she doing her best to make sure her supporter don't go with Obama... wat a B&^ch. I didn't think much of her before, now its off the meter.
  • trmenterprise · 1 year ago
I'm glad I'm not watching Hillary speak. God, I despise that (wo)man! She symbolizes all that is wrong with politics. She has no business in the Democratic Party and better stay out of Barack's way. She is more of a liability to Obama than Bush is to McCain. She and Bill would ruin any chances for Obama to win if they force themselves on the public any longer.
  • LeslieB · 1 year ago
Hillary just said she sounded the alarm on the mortgage crisis? When was that...did I miss it?
  • AdrianBrowne · 1 year ago
She's just on automatic pilot -- saying nothing.
  • LeslieB · 1 year ago
Oh no, she just told her supporters to keep fighting. Did she mean for her or the Democratic party?

Oh now she's saying "where do we go from here"? She won't make any decisions tonight. But, she says, this has always been about the 18 million people who voted for her. She wants to hear from all 18 million about how to proceed, as she meets with party leaders, etc.
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
She's presenting herself as a mix of Lady Bountiful and Mother Theresa.
  • Miket298 · 1 year ago
    God not the Denver chant...
  • duchessofbilgewater · 1 year ago
Ahhh, now she's asking for money!
  • njprogressive · 1 year ago
her followers are delusional. they are chanting denver, almost like they are hoping that the party splits and cant recover. absolutely disgusting.
  • tas · 1 year ago
Let's see, Obama is winning among men and women in Montana. Of course, there are so many African Americans in Montana who drink lattes all day. None of them are white, working class folks.

God she just talked about stealing that kids bike in KY again. And Montana doesn't count. Hillary said so.
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
Have they called South Dakota for Clinton"
  • LeslieB · 1 year ago
    Yes.
  • Rustyzipper · 1 year ago
well, I so hoping this is the last time we hear her speak....

I'm waiting for the "I had to duck crap" coming off a plane.

  • tbhull · 1 year ago
Obama needs to overwhelming pressure doiwbn to crush this snake and crush failure's skull until its brains splatter on the heel of his boot, for once this is all over Clinton will clean it off day after day as the junior Senator from New York when Hillary shines the very same boots that kickced her ass.

  • Miket298 · 1 year ago
You know if she conceded and congratulated Obama I might have been able to have some respect for her left but this is crazy
  • duchessofbilgewater · 1 year ago
Terrible speech. Why can't she just call it quits? She asked everyone to go to her website -- I say let's do it!
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
NO CLASS, ABSOLUTELY NO CLASS. She cannot bring herself to congratulate Obama. I will work ten times harder to help Obama. I hope to god there is no mention of her as VP
  • grandma · 1 year ago
She should be freaking kicked out of the Democratic party.....freakin TRAITOR !!!!!!
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
I hope and pray nobody would think of making her website inaccessible through some act of cybermischief. That would be a dreadful thing to do, since she is relying on it so much, to have her 18 million (this number keeps getting bigger) supporters "share their thoughts" with her. Please, nobody out there in cyberspace ever do any mischief to her website hillary clinton dot com!
  • canuck55 · 1 year ago
She's not pinin'! 'She's passed on! This candidate is no more! She has ceased to be! 'She's expired and gone to meet 'is maker! 'She's a stiff! Bereft of life, She
rests in peace! If you hadn't nailed er to the perch She'd be pushing up the daisies! 'er metabolic processes are now 'istory! She's off the twig! My husband just went to her website, as she requested, to ask her to withdraw from the race gracefully ... he says thet there is no way to get out of the site, short of going off line!

"Sixteen months have passed since we first stood together on the steps of the Old State Capitol in Springfield, Illinois. Thousands of miles have been traveled. Millions of voices have been heard. And because of what you said -- because you decided that change must come to Washington; because you believed that this year must be different than all the rest; because you chose to listen not to your doubts or your fears but to your greatest hopes and highest aspirations, tonight we mark the end of one historic journey with the beginning of another -- a journey that will bring a new and better day to America. Tonight, I can stand before you and say that I will be the Democratic nominee for President of the United States."
