AMERICAblog: New Study: Lieberman not that progressive at all

  • EmGD · 1 year ago
Yeah, you kind of lose the whole progressive mantra when you actively work to make sure progressives will have less power to enact progressive ideas, promote conservative fantasies, and vote for conservative ideas. But I'm sure all those nasty people in Connecticut who voted against him are real sorry now. He showed them that their critique of him as insufficiently progressive was exactly spot on.

This is a bitter pill for me.

Somebody should tell Obama that enforcing party discipline is a key part of political leadership.
  • ObamaLover · 1 year ago
Lieberman is two-faced, but most of all he is self-serving. He'll do whatever he thinks is in his best interest. Now that the Dems control all the power, he'll be sucking up to Obama now.

LOL seems the press is doing the same...

New Study: lieberman is a turd.

    same as the old study.
  • 1billinnj2 · 1 year ago
throw the bum out. liebermann is just for lieberman. he has underminded all the hard work the dems have done and will do and should be shown the door. we do not need his ego anymore or any less. he is a disgrace to his state and the democratic party.
  • Butch1 · 1 year ago
Reid, grow a spine and give him "the bum's rush." Enough of this guy thumbing his nose at us all and then, putting that smirk on his face begging us to just try and do something. If I were in charge, he would have been gone by now and no loss of sleep over it. He is a traitor to his party and he knows it and doesn't really care. Let the republicans have him, that's where his home is now. Besides, we do not need a spy in the democratic party with Traitor Joe running to the republicans with each and every strategy the dems come up with.

    Interesting post on Kos.

Durbin and Schumer want Lieberputz the hell out.

Dodd and Bayh prefer to kiss LieberAss.

The vote in caucus should be interesting. Its a secret ballot. We'll know more about the remaings Senate seats too. My gut feeling is that Joe stays to continue to stab us in the back later. Too much back slapping comraderie in the Senate.

Lieberman is a threat to our future financial and national security. His support for McCain and the actions he voluntarily made during the election show he is no progressive and would work against President-elect Obama's programs and direction at every opportunity.
Lieberman should lose his committee chairmanships and not be allowed to caucus with the duly elected Democratic majority.
It is obvious that Lieberman would be happier perched on the neo-con side of the isle. Throw the bum out.
  • lauren1959 · 1 year ago
Are we going to throw Hillary Clinton out too? Didn't see do exactly what Lieberman did during the primary, only for the "right" side. I don't like Lieberman, and my gut instinct is as yours is- to punish him. Luckily, the tone starts at the top, and President-elect Obama has made it perfectly clear that if he is to succeed, we have to extend hands, not burn bridges. Since we all want him to succeed, and the Democratic party to operate from a position of strength that will effectively dismantle the Republican Party (at least in relation to what they have become), I suggest we follow his lead.

Hillary did not campaign for the Republican Nominee for president.

Neither did she speak against Obama at the Republican National Convention.

In fact, Hillary spoke clearly and forcefully in favor of an Obama presidency on the campaign trail and at the Democratic National Convention.

    Your analogy is ridiculous.
  • AnthonyLook · 1 year ago
Comparing the campaign tactics of Hillary and Lieberman, when she forcefully did everything she could after the primaries to unite the Democratic Party and to come to aid of President Elect Obama is not only ridiculous; it borders on ignorance. For anyone to think like lauren1959 or Reid, or Dodd and believe that it would not be a huge mistake to allow this man to continue in our caucus is beyond comprehension. We do not need the likes of this man, he has done incalculable harm to our party and has been invaluable to Bush and the GOP.
Enough of this; there is no remote Democratic American voter support for this man. We voted the Democrats in precisely for the purposes of fighting a good fight to bring America back to the stature and respect we once had. Allowing this man to stay will cause a blogger revolt against Reid and Dodd that will not be forgotten in their next voting cycle.

MSNBC: Obama will hire almost 8,000 personnel...

And hopefully, get rid of one senator.
  • cay · 1 year ago
Lieberman's non-investigation of the causes of our Katrina "response" is enough to justify his being kicked to the curb. What a failure.
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
it is definitely hard to read all Traitor Joe's dirty deeds and not think he should be culled...

maybe Obama's just waiting for the final Senate election count before he lowers the boom on Joe's ass...

Why are we even having this debate? Lieberman attacked the Democratic nominee, booing him on one occasion with McCain on the campaign trail.

    Kick Joe out, like yesterday.

Like I said yesterday, the Dems should cut a deal with Olympia Snow to switch parties, and kick Loserman to the curb.
  • tommytoonz · 1 year ago
Leiberman never was a Progressive, he was hardly a liberal. By all measure, his entire career has been that of a very conservative liberal if not a very liberal conservative. There's not a progressive bone in his body.
  • Indigo · 1 year ago
I was wondering about that . . . I read somewhere how he's super-gay-friendly and all. Really? He is? Somehow, I don't see it but maybe . . . anybody know the facts?
  • Nylund · 1 year ago
This is like announcing a new study that shows that Lieberman shit doesn't smell like roses.
  • Schmedlap · 1 year ago
I have wondered for quite awhile about the 90% liberal vote he proclaims. I wish someone would come up with the actual statistics. I'd bet his voting pattern swung enormously when he decided his best option for retribution against Senate Democrats for the Senate race was to become McCain's BFF.

I wonder about any Democrat who supports Lieberman's chairing the Homeland Security Committee where he would be nothing but an obstructive force against the Obama agenda. It will be tough enough without giving this traitor a loaded gun. If he bolts to the Repubs, well, good riddance you traitorous bastard.
