AMERICAblog: No politics on 9/11 -- except Sarah Palin's disrepectful interview on ABC

    You can put lipstick on a . . .
  • red_dwarf · 1 year ago
Indigo - you seem to follow most of the bs going around pretty well - what's up with Palin's son going into the military bc of drug use? Not that a young person choosing to do so is abnormal - hell, if I had a mom like Palin I'd be doing heavy drugs as well. Anyway, in the CBS article today in which Palin talks about going to war with Russia she talks about how wonderful her son is and that "he chose" to go to Iraq to "fight for America" and so on and so forth. I figured Palin was just lying again. Haven't seen anything of late w.r.t. a judge ordering her son to enter the military or face jail time - maybe that's not true, if it is it should be covered w.r.t. Palin's lies in her interview about what a model kid her son is, etc. Palin is one sick puppy that's for sure. Scary as hell when you think about it that someone so lame as her is on the national stage - god have we lost our way.

stories are floating that he was heavily into Oxy use among others and he and a couple of his friends got caught vandalizing some cars, so it was either enlist or jail.
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
It's in the National Enquirer, which dragged a wheelbarrow full of sawbucks through Wasilla to loosen the lips of Track's lil' buddies, who all attested to Track sucking up Oxycontin like TicTacs.

Um . . . Not that I know much about it, but there's a pattern among people of means and substance and churchiness to cover up little indiscretions with . . . oh, you know.  Catholic girls go to a convent in Quebec to explore the possiblity of joining the sisterhood.  After the unfortunate orphan is born, the girl decides she isn't cut out to be a nun and she comes home again.  Protestant boys who get into trouble with the law often join the military because they come from families of means and substance and churchiness and that's what the self-identified "good" people do.  We might call it hypocrisy but we're not in office and they are.  It's power, it's dealing from the bottom of the deck, it's a backroom deal.  He joins the military, he gets all heroic and Pat Tillman about, and the books are closed.

I posted this thouht earlier It's waaaaay too coincidental, not to mention her son was called up to Iraq today. Nope, no politics on 911.

    Her son?

Yeah, I heard he got a choice between prison and the service too.

CNN should be wondering how and when Cindy decided to tag along to maybe cath Johnny or to keep him from rolling down the ramp...
  • jgrant · 1 year ago
Oh, come on. Give it a rest. The media's been putting pressure on the Republicans to make her available, and the left has been deriding the GOP for not doing. Now that they did it, you're crying "Gotcha!" The maturity level on this site needs to go up a couple of notches.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
It only goes down when you show up.
  • loona_c · 1 year ago
Yeah, that darn media. How DARE they want a VP candidate available to answer questions. Unlike the lock-step, rabid, stepford republicans who throw accolades at the republican nominee and acclaim her as the best candidate possible. The rest of us expect that to be proven to us!
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
She's like the Greta Garbo of politics.

We're supposed to be grateful she showed her face.

(I'm sure she'll go back in hiding now.)
  • red_dwarf · 1 year ago
A new troll. rePIGs are always welcome on this site to spew their manure.
  • jgrant · 1 year ago
Sorry Red, Sorry Bush Bites, I'm a Democratic. Just a grown-up one who gets tired of the infantile jabbering and name calling on sites like these. I worked to replace Cynthia McKinney because she was bad for the team, and I also spent hundreds of hours turning our state House district from red to blue -- the only one in Georgia where that was accomplished in 2006. I'm working for Democrats this fall, too. But Red, you're proving my point when you decide that anybody who disagrees with your point of view is a Republican. It's this small-minded, close-minded, angry, hateful spew that's hurting us. But again, thanks for proving my point. .
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
I disagree with you, jgrant. We are working against HALF of America who are ready to pull the lever for someone simply because she looks like a hot librarian. The half who are high information voters are already ready to vote for Obama. We have to find a way to attack those who pulled the lever TWICE for George W. Bush. If we can't figure out a way to discourage them by appealing to their worst nature then we are screwed. Its that simple. If we don't start playing their game, we are screwed. When I say "We" I, of course, mean our nation. I'm not about to go back to trying to fight them by overestimating their character and trying to appeal to them using logic. Those kind of tactics has all but destroyed our nation by having the most stupid among us select leaders who don't represent their best interests. We are going to have to learn to play hardball are we are doomed. Pessimist? Look at the polls. As Sarah Palin would say, "You betcha!"
  • jgrant · 1 year ago
I resoect what you're saying, but it's the ones who keep their heads that will win the battle. It's all about winning the elections, and that means gaining the middle. I think we're all in an uproar over the polls right now, but those will settle out. It's not overall, but state by state that will win the day. I believe the media has to keep putting pressure on Palin/McCain to hold more than staged events. I haven't seen the whole Palin interview, but from what I saw Charlie Gibson did his job and gave her enough rope to hang herself, and she did. Besides that, her voice is going to drive people crazy after just two more ABC interviews. We're going to win. McCain is going to have more and more senior moments and if Obama can't take him out in a debate, well . . . let's just say Obama has to and I believe he can do it.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
Good - I've been in a media / news blackout because I've been doing work at the ranch. No time to see the interview. I'm reading she screwed it up pretty good! I'm feeling better about things...
  • leinad44 · 1 year ago
Y'all must not have seen the same interview I saw. Palin answered every question correctly without starting a third world war. Of course she wanted to say we would go to war with whomever caused US trouble, but she didn't; she couldn't. As far as her "voice", I like it and I'm from Texas where we are dodging Ike right now.
  • red_dwarf · 1 year ago
Now that they did it, you're crying "Gotcha!"

I misunderstood. I read that as a comment from a rePIGlican. Still do.
  • sukabi1 · 1 year ago
A scripted interview that she had weeks to prepare for, and was obviously given the questions prior to, is NOT being available.
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
Pvte Track Palin deployed today, on 9/11. Did you hear his Hockey Mom say, numerous times, her son "signed up for Eye-rack" and was leaving on 9/11? Stealth campaigning. Blatant appropriation of 9/11 (trade mark).

I thought that tm was owned by "America's Mayor" Rudy Guliano. Do you suppose he rented it out at a discount price to the tart from the tundra?

Been very disappointed with CNN lately...

    and missing Cafferty.
  • Mikki --SE Pennsylvania · 1 year ago
Indeed if they work a bit harder they can really get down there with Fox News and ABC.
  • tbhull · 1 year ago
This is a stretch at best. We gripe because she is not acessible to the press and then we gripe when she gives an interview. Enough with the faux outrage. Please let this idiot speak unencumbered by background noise

CNN did sound a bit crestfallen when they found out Michelle was attending to her children and their first day of school in Chicago.

I really think the events of 9/11 are not being used to the same level they were in 2004's presidential campaign. On my Word Face-Off blog, I compared the Google-popularity of "9/11," "Flight 93," etc. and there is a marked difference between 2004 and 2008.
  • Mark217 · 1 year ago
If Sarah Gump-Palin, called a cocky wacko by a fellow Republican, wants to show the world that she's even more stupid than George Bush, then she can be my guest. Pops McCain is on television, looks like he needs to be on Oxygen.
  • donotmakemecomedownthere · 1 year ago
Where the hell has Joe Biden been these days?
The Dem ticket needs his old-fashioned bull-roar and beltway bravado, right now.
    Joe! Step it up!
  • devis1 · 1 year ago
He's been out there everyday, MSM decided he isn't important.
  • tbhull · 1 year ago
You are correct. Just wait for the media to create its own story by saying Biden is absent when in fact the MSM has simply fsailed to give Biden any time when ample opportunity existed to do so.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
He probably went on "vacation" to go "wind surfing." I'm about ready to give up. I'm furious. Either that, or he is working on a speech to try to find out how many ways he can say "John McCain is an Honorable man" or "his best friend" before criticizing him about his policies.

Hey, fellow A-bloggers, its good to be back. I've been busy burying one of our beloved Great Pyrenees dogs. One of the joys of living in Red State America is having one of your "sportsmen" neighbors use your dog as target practice. My mother and I were trying to get our cattle up because they've developed pink eye. Our Australian Shepherd and one of the Pyrenees, Laramie, followed us. He has a twin sister, Sierra, who remained home - thank God. Any way, we went into a valley and were pushing the cattle forward, rounded a corner and turned off our engines and were talking about what we wanted to do next. From about 1/2 mile away we heard a rifle or gun shot. We dismissed it, because this IS Oklahoma were people LOVE their guns and love shooting them. In fact, most of the political signs around here read, "Sportsmen for (blank)!" (i.e. "Sportsmen for Sarah Palin!" for instance). Any way, we got home and towards evening we realized we were missing our Great Pyrenees. Sometimes they will go to the barn and we will lock them in so I looked everywhere for him. We gave up and still didn't realize the gun shot had anything to do with his going missing. This morning he had dragged himself to our house. One leg was completely shattered and the other had a gun shot entry wound. He died an agonizing death prior to the veterinarian getting there to put him to sleep. Not only were we extremely sad for him, but grateful we were shot and killed while simply trying to get our cattle up. Here in Oklahoma, though, if your dog crosses over into someone elses yard then they are "fair game" so we don't know if he crossed into the neighbors property. We are fairly certain we know who did it, and confronted him and his family, but there isn't a way to prove it. We got the veterinarian to x-ray the dog after he died and try to locate a bullet for evidence but couldn't find anything. I've spent the entire afternoon burying him. He was like burying a horse as Pyrenees are huge dogs. I think hunting is great, but I'm getting sick and tired of "sportsmen" around here who shoot their damned guns off and target pets around here. Not in a real good mood tonight... I'm sure you understand.

    okay... I said this below...

not only did she pick TODAY to do the interview... but its been pointed out again and again that her SON ships out to Iraq today.

so... as a mother of five... her oldest (or second oldest, can't remember which) is shipping out TODAY... and she has an interview she can't break for family time before he goes??

again, how does the base feel about her putting politics before her family?

if these are repugnican 'family values'... God help us all.
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
then again... she could be frying puppies and kittens for dinner... and the 'base' would be fine with it as long as she's for overturning Roe V Wade and pro faith-based teachings.

gotta keep the theocracy moving forward!
    /snark

The question should be WHY DID ABC violate the "no politics on 9/11" Why did ABC give an interview to Sarah Palin on that date unless they are trying to game teh election for Republicans? Where is the Joe Biden interview for equal time?
  • News Nag · 1 year ago
Catch Palin's side-view posture in the Gibson interview.
    She's adopted McCain's slumping posture.

    McCain-Palin: Slumping for America!
    McCain-Palin: Bad Posturing for America!

And she winks twice at about 40 seconds into the Talking Points video of the interview. She winks when she's talking about the "good thing" about the elections is that there can be new leadership (yeah, not more of the same or anything like that).

If she wasn't from the beautiful and rugged, yet Republican-corrupted state of right-wing Alaska, she wouldn't ever have risen above small-town mayor - maybe county supervisor, but that's it tops!

Trying to explain Palin's views to my 7-year old daughter would go something like this:

She: Why is she famous for killing moose?
Me: She shoots them for fun and that is one of the main reasons the GOP picked her since it would get alot of people to vote for them.
She: Why does she shoot them for fun? She is killing Bambi's family?
Me: Yes, but she does not waste the carcass. She skins them and uses the skin for rugs and the meat to make mooseburgers.
    She: Yuuuuuck!
Me: I know, huh. She wants us to drill for oil in the Alaskan wildlife.
She: What! She wants us to drill for oil under the homes of polar bears?! But wouldn't an oil spill hurt the beautiful parks in Alaska and alot of animals?
    Me: Well, yeah.
She: I thought that we were all trying to use less oil and use more sun energy because the oil makes the world too hot.
Me: Well, she also does not believe in global warming.
She: She should listen better to her science teachers or read more books from the library.
Me: Well, she does not really believe in science and wants to have religion theories being taught in science class. And as far as the library, she wants books that are inconvenient or make us uncomfortable taken out of the library.
She: Did the library listen to her?
Me: No, but she did try to get the librarian fired for not listening to her.
She: So how come she can be President and not know so much stuff? Maybe I should not do my homework and you should get me pretty dresses that way I can dress up and play President of the USA.
Me: No really, a sound education is really important .... I think. Or is it elitist?

My job as a mom just got harder. Now on to 'expalin' the pregnant teen daughter to my 13 year old neice. Thanks alot, GOP!!!
  • tribalpeanut · 1 year ago
She didn't even refer to the 9/11 event until she was asked a question that directly related to it. Was she supposed to tip-toe around the word regardless of it's relevance to the question? She was incredibly respectful of the day. There is no double standard at play here because, simply put, she did not violate any rule except the ones you've invented for this occaision.
