AMERICAblog: No wonder McCain can't figure out how to get online

Could be why he keeps referring to Czechoslovakia, a country that ceased to exist in the 1990's.

If this old and clueless war-monger is elected president, I will be firmly convinced that Americans only know how to vote against their best interests. There would be no other explanation (although I believe that security flaws with electronic voting could have a little to do with it as well).

Wow, it had 90 something diggs this morning and 1466 views, which was good since Jed had just posted it a few hours before.

Now, it's up to almost 12,000 views and 1766 diggs!

Not bad for less than 24 hours.

ETA - now 22,500 plus views!!

He also seems to have a speech problem.
He doesn't pronounce his "L" very well.

Instead of "millions", he says mihyons.

For some reason, that really gets under my skin.

Eight years of a chimp in chief mangling the English language has not desensitized me to it. It's no more tolerable now than it was then.

If anything, it's become less tolerable.

He was diagnosed with senile dementia while still at the naval academy.

Seriously? Is that why he's getting $58,000 a year in disability income?

    http://www.americablog.com/2008/06/why-is-mccai...

Dementia and PTSD should be automatic disqualifiers for running to be leader of the (not so free anymore) world.
  • lark83 · 1 year ago
Its not "disability" income. He is a retired Navy Captain with over 20 years service. All retired Navy captains get that. Captain is a high rank in the Navy, one step below Admiral.

The confusion stems from the fact that he is classified as partially disabled, due to the severe injuries he received in the vietnam war. McCain cannot raise his hands over his head, and I believe he canot comb his own hair.

Why is it that America elects presidents that have the power to start wars with countries they can't find on a map?
  • moreleesafer · 1 year ago
OH! that is why he insists on calling Iraq "Persia" I'd swear I heard him make reference to "Siam" as well.

really though, can you blame him? back when he learned the United States and capitols, there were still only 13.

Not that I have anything against old people. I hope to become one someday...but some jobs aren't meant to be done by someone who is in the sunset of his life.

Send that clip (the part about 'clueless on the internet') to every young person you know.............

Got to see Obamas' speech last night on CNN International (I'm an american, living in Norway) and DAMN, was I impressed. He said pretty much all the things that needed to be said, but much more diplomatic (but still DIRECT) about the folly of the whole Iraq war and what should have been done, and what he will do when elected. He already acted and sounded miles more presidential than the current chimp or the GOP contender. He also just let it all out, what was important, what the reasoning was. I knew immidiately the right would jump on the spending, but he gave sound reasons why the spending is more of an investment than money thrown down the Iraq toilet for example.

I think in the US they simply are not used to having their tax dollars do things that people can SEE are benficial. If someone used them wisely, and they promoted prosperity, instead of the slash and burn Bush style...

But I wondered if Bush were somewhere in the building as Obama spoke, because about two-thirds of the way through, the screen kept jiggling...got worse and worse and lasted some minutes, then happened a little later too...in this day an age (with automatic "jiggle removal" built into cameras) I wondered what the reason was.

Look, as people get older, they can learn, but it's more discrete. By that, I mean, you usually have lots of knowledge in your head; some things new, some old, some you push back because it's no longer relevant to your present life. It's harder to retain some things--you learn to discard some info and retain other info, depending on what serves you at the time.

I'm 5 yrs younger than McCain, and if I had not been working during the period computers came of age, I wouldn't know how to use one (learned on the job, didn't have a personal one until 1994). I admit, I'm no tech whiz, but I can navigate my way around one, use its features, get on the internet, etc. I'm a user, and there are some applications I don't use--it's a personal preference, depending on your temperament. My 49 yr old son refuses to use the computer except to play games. He describes himself as a Luddite (refuses to have a cell phone as well, but I don't have one either). Of course, both my grandchildren grew up with computers and are much savvier.

But, that begs the question: where in hell has McBush been the last 20 years and what have been his priorities? Oh right...sleeping in the Senate--not learning, just Being There to perk up at anything that benefits himself and his wife...and let others handle the "small details."

    Hello moderator:

Did I cross a line? If so let me know and define that newly drawn line and I'll do my best to oblige.
  • unrepentant_expat · 1 year ago
What did McCain do with that experience?
    ....He trollopized it!
From the bottom of his class
the only way up was gold digging
and if anyone tried to pin him down on it,
    he'd thump the "f#cking c#nt"

Sad, Sad, Sad, McCain = Bush!

B-b-but! Real, hard-working Americans, White Americans--the only voters who matter--don't have the time or savvy for computers, either. Only four-eyed latte-sipping elitists have computers, which they take to show off at Starbucks. Real Americans don't cotton to smartypants PC-users.

repubs think you're less of a man if you pay attention during school. They want to teach creationism in schools so parents won't feel intellectually inferior to their children

    Heh heh heh.

    I'm a complete idiot. Isn't that cute?

Its a little charming that he readily admits he was no great student at the Naval Academy. I think the very smart Kerry got no better grades at Yale than Bush did. By itself how good a student you were in your youth doesn't disqualify you from jobs that require intelligence.

It is a little disturbing that today McCain can't use a computer. It shows he doesn't know how to get new information. I think it explains why he seems so massively ignorant of current events.
