Here is what Obama is up against---hidden racism. MSNBC just interviewed an older, not elderly, woman, claiming to be a Democrat who is going to vote for McCain. When asked why she wasn't voting for Obama the woman faltered and took a long pause then went into "he is not ready", "he changes his mind", "he won't release his Illinois senate records", and she tossed a few more things in there.
The most telling reason was the one that made her stumble to find an answer, the one never spoken and the one that will never come from this woman's lips, one she can never admit too, Obama is black.

Some people are just idiots: I had dinner with an elderly relative on Sunday who claimed that Obama is a tool of Muslims who have wanted to take over our government for many years. He said that this was a plot which had been years in the making. I told him that Obama was a Christian (didn't he remember his crazy pastor?) and then just shook my head. There is no way to convince some people that they are seriously whacko.

OT I was just over at Politico and reading the comments. One that got my attention is that in the next couple of weeks the Republicans are going to charge Obama with an affair, Looks like this is going to grow some legs. I certainly hope not but the Republicans have nothing left and this certainly would be right up their alley.

OT - if Obama had had an affair (a rumour which I think would have already come out if it had any legs), that would make two of them. Not at ALL condoning that kind of activity, but McCain's marital history isn't exactly squeaky clean.

Except in McCain's case that would be AFFAIRS... you can't really believe that Cindy was the only affair Mc had while married to his first wife Carol... and Ms. Iseman most likely wasn't the first or last affair he's had while married to Cindy... and since Obama's wife has been the target of McCain's campaign trying to tie the Ayer's / underground to her... then Cindy's past drug use / theft / and her father's mob connections should be fair game as well ...
