AMERICAblog: Now Rangel is publicly criticizing Hillary

These supporters of Hillary put their own credibility on the line when they assured all of us that Hillary needs time and lets let this primary season play out ...well they were either naive or they were duped ...The Clintons have a long history of using people and then spitting them out .... I am most disapointed with Wasserman Schultz - a local gal here- she knows better and is a smart woman. I can't believe she does not see that the landsacape right now needs to have it look like Obama is a leader that wont cow to pressure and be resolute. Its over Hillary people - Leading is no longer an option -follow or get the hell out of the way ...!

Clyburn getting hate calls from Hillary supporters to the point an intern had to be consoled.
That's so sad. Clyburn, a civil rights leader who was front and center during the 60s to help make this possible deserves much better.

Great news John! Charlie Rangel is a good "rat" that knows it's time to jump off the sinking ship. Continued support is now a matter of embarrassment for those who were in her corner. Her top surrogates are all agreeing it makes no sense to try and bully a spot on the ticket.
Now, Obama plays the waiting game. That speech was the best thing she could have done. It plays into our hands.

Clinton's getting less relevant by the minute. Like a leaky balloon. No need for Obama to risk riling up her base or chance giving McCain inroads to her hardcore backers by appealing to the 'stolen' nomination. Just focus on the general as the party's nominee, and outwait Clinton.

Grr argh no edit function (that I can find). I mean, no need for Obama or the party to risk those things by dissing Clinton or pulling the rug from under her.

Really, this just looks bad for HRC and the party. It is not as though Clinton lacked any clue as to how these last two primaries were going to play out. She got better than she expected from the rules committee. Clinton could have conceded and made it look honorable or she could have suspended her campaign just in case something came up to be in position to run and again look honorable.
This is just pathetic and makes the party look weak.

She can't milk more $ from her hangers-on if she concedes or suspends.
That's what her game is all about.

From so many of the extremely vitriolic comments I've seen from purported Hillary supporters, and from the experience of dealing with trolls here and in other forums for years who masquerade (feebly) as Dems, I would have to say that quite a few of them are obvious plants. I would say that those types are the smarter of the ditto heads, continuing their insane Operation Chaos. There is no way that some of these callers are not plants trying to keep the pot stirred up.
Of course, the main blame falls on Hillary for allowing and often times fomenting this unrest.
A memo from the McCain campaign telling right-wing trolls to astroturf lefty blogs posing as outraged Clinton supporters who will never vote for Obama.

This situation with the Clinton followers today reminds me of when Rabbi Shneeerson died. Parts of of the Chasidic movement thought he was the Messiah when he was alive BUT when he died some of the movement's people's belief in his being the messiah strengthened. A weird pyschology displays itself when your "saviour" is cut down. I hear alot of women in my office feel so dejected today because they feel that Hillary was their only chance to see a woman President in their lifetimes. My reaction is that their are other women out there that could make a fine President one day ....why hang your hopes one one person at one moment in time......

ii am no Hillary fan, i know she and Bill think of themselves before country or party, and i know they expect everyone but them to obey the rules and play fair and sanely, but this is sad....watching her self-destruct in front of the whole world. not only will she not be VP, she seems to be damaging her place in the party and the future senate.

For all the snarky comments about "Bush's Bubble," it's really looking like Hillary's world is even more insular. If she's as smart as people claim she is, then she know the damage she's doing to the party. And if she knows the damage she's doing to the party, then how can anyone who considers him or herself to be a Democrat still defend her actions? The phrase "Hillocrats" makes more and more sense to me now. I used to think it just meant "Democrats who are supporting Hillary," but that's not what it means, at least, not anymore. These are people who are putting their support for one person over the support of their party. As has been said time and time again, there's not much substantive difference between what Obama & Clinton hoped to accomplish as a Democratic President, so if you still support Hillary, knowing she won't get the nomination, knowing she can't be President, and knowing that you make McCain look better by continuing this battle, then you're not REALLY for fighting what Hillary claims to want to fight. You just flat-out like Hillary and want her to be President. You don't care about her agenda (did you ever? Did SHE ever? Her behavior makes a person wonder...), you care about her, period. And that sucks, for all of us. Sorry your team captain didn't win, but you can either get behind a winning team or you can be spoilers. Letting the other team win means they get bragging rights...and four more years of destorying this country. That worth it for any of you?

Hillary played a neat trick today. Obama was to speak at AIPAC (and he did). But HRC went first, and very publicly assured AIPAC that Obama is okay for Israel. Like he could not have done this himself. She also (presumably) directed her ally Rahm Emanuel to tell the media that she had told him that he should back Obama, especially with Jews, and that both of them should do all they could to support Obama. Now, I ask, is this the way to support someone? Or is it a way to make them appear to be weak and dependent on your tender mercies?
HRC seems to want to make Obama appear to be a 99-pound weakling who can get nowhere without her support....so she appears to still control the Dem Party.
He is going to western Virginia this week where hopefully, with the support of Virginia Democratic leaders, he can score some decent successes right in Clinton's "hard-working white folks" backyard. He needs to show that he is indeed independent (as the whole campaign has showed) and does not need Clinton's "support." He should also find an opportunity soon to meet with prominent women's groups to develop rapport with them. If he can draw big crowds in "Clinton" states like Pa and Ohio he'll do even better in establishing himself. Then he can politely signal (but never say) that Clinton can go to hell. In any event, he has to continue to be his own man, not let himself appear to be Hillary's puppet.

He already draws big crowds in states like PA. I think it was like 35,000 when he spoke in Philly.

No question about the big crowds .
BTW I was at the Philly Event and I think the "official" 35, 000 figure is too low. Just guessing...but I reckon about 50 thousand people were there.

YOU ARE WRONG - OBAMA SPOKE FIRST AND HER WORDS ABOUT OBAMA AT THE AIPAC EVENT WERE THE CLOSEST SHE HAS COME IN THE PAST 24HRS TO ACKOWLEDGING THAT HE WON BY SAYING WHAT SHE SAID ...IT WAS NOT PATRONIZING AT ALL ---THE MORE PEOPLE SAY THAT OBAMA WILL BE OK FOR ISRAEL TO MY FELOOW JEWS THE BETTER ! HE HAS BEEN SUBJECT TO VILE SMEARS.

I watched and listened to both Obama and Clinton and Obama spoke first. I'm not sure it matters though.
Hi Applepie. Thanks for the correction and links, and I don't think it matters either. Either way it strikes me as implicitly condescending. Zennbuttkicker: I should have been more clear. For the purpose that I was suggesting, Philadelphia really doesn't count. Obama needs to show he can gain support in central and/or western PA, for example, Lancaster, Harrisburg, Altoona, Erie, even Pittsburgh. Jescot: Yes, Clinton made some brief positive comments, but as usual her speech was all about "I." about what I have done and what I would do. Like she will be president. After her entirely self-centered "victory" speech last night this is no surprise. I might be more positive about her remarks re Obama had she referred to anything he said at AIPAC, or especially had she referred to him as the Democratic standard bearer, or some such. Instead, she referred neutrally to the need for a Democrat as president. She still wants it to be her. Hopefully, though, you are right and her remarks will help him.

I heard a disgruntled female Hillary supporter saying today how she doesn't like Obamas wife and did anyone see how she (Michelle) had *gasp* bare arms last night.
If that was her criteria for disliking a presidential candidates wife, it explains how much thought she put into her choice for hillary.
ZennButtKicker (tlhwraith)

bare arms in June, the nerve!

yep, it is about the same amount of thought as that old lady saying Obama wasn't patriotic because he didn't wear a flag pin. These rabid followers will say anything but the truth, they don't want a black man as president.

What really cracks me up is that Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter were on FoxNews almost crying about Hillary's devastating loss. Both Limbaugh and Coulter endorsed her months ago and pledged to even campaign for her. Since Billary and her supporters were working with scum like that, I say they should head on over to the Republican Party. We don't want corrupt freaks like that in the Democratic Party. YEEEAAAA! The witch is gone.
Hardy_Haberman

I have to think if this were anyone but Hillary Clinton would the Democratic Party be handling her with such delicacy? I figure if it had been Kucinich or any other candidate they would have long ago made it clear that they should step down. Instead, we are giving Hillary "room" to make her decision. What the?

I just saw a clip of Hillary's appearance at AIPAC. She had the look of someone who sat up all night with a bottle of liquor after being jilted.
Concede Hillary. Do the right thing, finally.

"Rep. Charles Rangel said he thinks it is time for Clinton to publicly clarify what she is doing and allow her supporters to switch their allegiance to Barack Obama." *************************
This is sickening for a female, but true. They need to be ALLOWED to do something. As I have always suspected, Hillary's female followers do NOT want equality -- they just want someone to follow.
As a REAL feminist, I don't need someone (male, female, or alien) to tell me what to do. Of course, in my 55 years, I have never sat in my house and sniveled that women didn't have rights. I just did what I wanted and fought for equal rights. The HillarysBots are too weak to do that.

"This is sickening for a female, but true."
BINGO! Hillary has played the victim and gender card long enough. A real woman would have stood up and faced up to their lies (eg Bosnia). A woman with integrity would have confronted her spouse when he was exposed as an adulterer. Instead, Hillary continues to lie and cover for all her corrupt friends and family. She gives women a bad reputation.

I say: give them a week (at most), and then Obama should get tough. She has had plenty of time to realize she has lost. Enough! After a week, I will start to question Obama, too. Yes, he is for hope, but blind hope (as in believeing Hillary will do the sane thing) is a waste of time. And dangerous.

What exactly should Obama do? He's already won the primary; the only reason to be concerned about Clinton taking things to the convention is it's likely to be divisive and to inflame her more ardent supporters. How would Obama publicly getting tough with her help with that?

She's put her supporters in an impossible position, and they're not happy about it:
This is Classic Clinton®. This is what they did to their supporters during Bill's blow-job days. He denied the reports, and they let all their supporters go out and defend him, putting their own credibility on the line. Then, the truth came out -- and a lot of people were left with egg on their face. That caused a lot of hard feelings. You would think people would have learned from that. Some did -- which is why a lot of super delegates - - former Clinton associates - -went to Obama early on.

Last night I wanted to scream at the bubbleheads on MSNBC saying her speech was "eloquent" and generally praising her. I wanted to ask them would the same be true of ANY other candidate in the same position. NO they would have been questioning why no concession speech.
Thank god some sensible people have come forward today to say the same thing, she should have be professional and gracious. She should have been professional and gracious in defeat. She could have started unifying the party last night and she chose not to do it. No matter what her supporters say or think, this is about the self-centered Clinton wanting the presidency at all costs.
