I still can't get past Palin wanting to ban "To Kill A Mockingbird" and the Harry Potter books.

THERE WAS NOT a LIST of books..... Geeze....
No list at all......

nope, there was no list. I lived there during the Palin administration. my youngest relatives went to the private church school that belonged to one of Palin's churches. The school had no library at the time and I asked my niece if she could maybe get the then just released Harry Potter book from the town library. Her little brother chimed in "My teacher said we can't read that book EVER!" I asked why, was it too hard? He says, "No, my teacher says Harry Potter is the DEVIL!"
So, that was the attitude towards Harry Potter that a lot of people in town shared. I think what people are confusing about this story is that there is a list put out by the nationa library association that lists the most frequently challenged or banned books. there is no sarah palin banning list. at least, that we know of.

Why does the American people have to deal with these fascist redneck every four years?
It about time someone address the republican fascist leaning once and all... people need to know the truth!
It funny that the republican can call progressives and liberials socalist and worst but we can't return the favor by calling for what they are...fascists!
I would soomer be a demacratic socalist and serve and care for the people who need help... then to be a fascist and work at controlling everyone around me using my idea of what's right and wrong while allong feathering my own nest...what assholes!

HRC needs to quit donating our money to them as well. I quit giving to the HRC when I found out they send a portion to the Republican gays. Log Cabin Republicans will never change and it is high time we throw them under the bus and let them fend for their own selves. They are nothing but traitors to gay causes if they support the very people who oppose gay causes. As Obama says, "ENOUGH!!"

Sadly even some gay men and woman are drawn to the fascism and it's need to control others while rewarding yourself...bushism, the republican version of fascism is a plague on every community who see honor in help others.
Here in Houston on day one post-event, we're already seeing the signs of FEMA's corruption by fascist leadership at all levels... but today it's much more low key compared to NO
What I can't understand is the need to reward the republican fascists, at all levels for their failures and these same folks would not be so willing in there day to day lives to reward such failures amongst there kids, loved ones, or business associates...it's just plan nuts!

John, it looks like this issue is getting some attention, including the agressive push from the Carol Costello interview of Ed Kockh, on CNN, highlighted by Steve Clemons over at TWN.
Thugs cranking up the culture wars. Hope Obama staff are staying up late working on it.

Those logcabin queens are so stuck in the 70's........their self-hatred is palpable and corrosive to the next generation of LGBTQ people...in other words they suck and not very well

I finally gave up on Log Cabin when they supported John McCain AND Sarah Palin as being examples of 'inclusive' candidates..... wow, I was thinking inclusive meant, like, actually being inclusive. The other thing was they endorsed McCain and he is endorsing the effort in CA to overturn gay marriage.. yet Log Cabin is supporting the effort to uphold it.. so basically they are endorsing the position exactly opposite of theirs... what a waste of money if you donate to them. The net effect is less than zero...

Oh, when someone from the McCain or Palin campaign use the term 'This is categorically false.'. They mean by the category they include it in... 'the category of being false'.... so actually they mean that 'It is false that this statement is false'... hence it is actually true.
When they say something is true, however, that means that it is actually false. I think their whole campaign is basically false.

Back in the day... a Vatican correspondent said he used this method to determine if a charge of wrong-doing was true, If the Vatican spokesman denied it, it MIGHT be true... If the spokesman CATEGORICALLY denied the charge...it was TRUE.

I have a well-worn library card and I'm outraged that by the time Palin became mayor of Wasilla and tried to fire the librarian, some of her fellow "Christians" had long been vandalizing library books, tearing out pages and using markers to black out passages they found "offensive." Dr. Phil should drag them onto his stage and bellow, as only he can, 'WHAT GIVES YOU THE RIGHT???"

Yet these fools take advantage of all the benefits the left progressive gays have shrived for all these years. Who do the traitors support? The very same people who hate them and suppress them. These gay republicans should have a "scarlet letter" tattooed on their foreheads so that every time they show up at a gay bar or try and take advantage of the hard won rights, they are given the bum's rush. Let them go back to the public bathroom stalls where they feel the most comfortable. Anonymous sex with a wall in between seems to be all the comfort they should get.

Kudos! Totally agree.. I've found that most republicans who frequent gay bars or hang out in gay circles won't even divulge their political affiliation, at least not until you get to know them very well. I'll admit, I do have a few friends who are republican, although moderate repukes - they're socially liberal, but fiscally conservative -- less (translation - almost NO) government, no taxes, etc.

It's called "self-preservation." ;-) They know better than to admit they vote republican. I have no sympathy for any of them.
I also, have socially liberal republican friends but I also point out to them that every vote they give to the present republicans seeking office is one more that will try and deny me my rights. They don't like to be reminded.

I have absolutely no logical explanation for the lcr or why ANY GLBT person could even be a repubilcOn, but it is still a free country so far (NO thanks to the facist republicans - the founding fathers were all liberal), so they have the right to be whatever, even if it means voting against civil rights and equality for all.

What would they say: LET GAYS IN WASILLA BUY THEIR OWN BOOKS! That is what Gay Republicans would say about anything that involves equal treatment and free public access.

The Advocate has an interview with Patrick Sammon, President of the Log Cabin Republicans. He said this about endorsing McCain:
He’s the only candidate in the field who’s actually paid a political price for a vote that benefited gay and lesbian people. The fact is, one of the reasons social conservatives distrust him is because he twice voted against the Federal Marriage Amendment -- that took political courage, and he paid a price for it with his base.
and on Palin, among other things:
So because her record is so thin on these issues, I think there’s a real opportunity to work with her and talk to her about these issues, educate her about these issues, and have a positive position represented in the months and years ahead.
McCain/Palin are proven liars. They are lying to gays and lying to the religious right. There is nothing they will not lie about. This is how the GOP gets elected and until they stop getting elected, gay Americans will remain second class citizens. Please stop helping them get elected.

The Advocate has a very interesting article about being gay in Wasilla. You might be surprised. Here's a couple of paragprahs:
"Stielstra, 29, was born in Anchorage and soon afterward his family moved to Wasilla, about 40 miles north, where he lived until he was 19. Despite the influential presence of Evangelical Christian churches, and the absence of any detectable gay community, he says he felt welcome when he came out at 18."
His parents were very supportive. He told his mother first and it was years before he told his father but his father trying to work on ways to make his son feel comfortable enough to come out to him..
He goes on to say:
Even now, when Stielstra returns home from Chicago to visit family, he says he doesn’t feel much of an anti-gay bias.
"I have never, ever had a problem being openly gay in that town,” he says of Wasilla. “I have brought two men up there to meet the family in the past five years, and no one's even batted an eye."
