Well it can't be any worse than America has done working with Israel. Probably a few billion cheaper too.

Much as it leaves a bad taste in my mouth, negotiating with terrorists ended the IRA's campaign, it brough Libya back into the world, and it woulda handed Osama bin Laden over to the US without one American soldier killed.

Isolating an issue the way W has attempted to isolate Hamas is never productive. We've got Cuba isolated into a EuroResort that Americans can't go to. That was not smart. That was stupid. Isolating Hamas . . . equally so.

Can we please officially call Israel a terrorist state and begin an appropriate military response?
Just four days before the fighting, the Hamas parliament passed a sharia criminal code, legalizing, among other niceties, crucifixion.

This is excellent news if true. It's about time the US cancelled its exclusive relationship with Israel. We see how failure to do so has worked out.
Meanwhile, a terrible story from Afghanistan:
KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) - The mother and brother of a 14-year-old girl who was raped are facing prosecution for allegedly performing an abortion on her in a cattle shed in central Afghanistan, officials said.
The brother, who has been arrested by police, has confessed to cutting her stomach open with a razor blade and removing and burying the fetus. He has said he acted alone. The mother has not yet been detained because she lives in a remote area, several hours' drive from the provincial capital, Provincial Police Chief Ewaz Khan said.
The girl was in critical condition Friday at Bagram Air Base outside Kabul, having been flown there the night before for treatment, said Capt. Elizabeth Mathias, a spokeswoman for U.S. forces in Afghanistan. Bagram doctors said the girl had been about five months pregnant when she underwent the "traumatic c-section," according to Mathias.
The abortion was performed about nine days ago, using no anesthesia. The incisions were stitched up with a thick string usually used to sew up potato sacks, said Gulam Mohammad Nader, one of the doctors who treated the girl in the provincial capital. He said the wound became dangerously infected. --------
The question is my mind is--who raped her, and where is he? Arrested? I doubt it.

7.2% unemployment...2.6 million jobs lost in the year, 524,000 in Dec., and Oct and Nov down another 150K+...5 cent/hr raise in payrolls. Blacks (11.9%), teenagers and seniors took the brunt of unemployment.
Average work week, 33.3 hrs, meaning more job cuts coming.
Israel is treating the Palestinians as badly and anyone has treated anyone else in the history of the world. There is no reason we can't talk to both of these groups equally. Israel is not the boss of us, or the world.

Hamas is a terrorist organization. plain and simple fact. they are abusing their own palestinian people. the palestinians are suffering at the hands of hamas. they were elected democratically and squandered the oppurtunity, especially in gaza. they took perfect buildings vacated by israel, and destroyed them. they took perfect greenhouses and hydroponic famrs left by israel and destroyed them. they did build infrastructre or cultivate any kind of sustaining facility with these already established entities they were given on a silver platter. beurtiful buildings and synagogues were burnt to the ground instead of renovated to be schools, or hospitals or community centers. the greenhouses for agritculture and business were wrecked instead of used. Hamas repeatedly shoots rockets at israeli towns from places on purpose that would hurt their own civillians if someone fired back at the source of the rocket (fired from a yard or a place where there a civillians and children in the first place). The palestinian arabs will have no peace for themselves as long a terrorist group like hamas is allowed to run a mok.

Obama team denied this entire "unsourced" story today. That is a good thing because it made them reiterate a strong stance on Hamas. Google 'Obama Team Denies Report That He Seeks Talks With Hamas'
"The President-elect has repeatedly stated that he believes that Hamas is a terrorist organization dedicated to Israel's destruction, and that we should not deal with them until they recognize Israel, renounce violence, and abide by past agreements," transition spokeswoman Brooke Anderson said in a written statement.

Mary,
Israel also wants the natural gas that was recently discoved. How dare the Palestinians profit from their resources.
Israeli Theft of Gaza Natural Gas hits a roadblock
British Gas explains exit from Israel
"There was a window of opportunity to close the deal, but it was missed." Lior Baron 17 Jan 08 13:38
"The Israeli energy market will have to adjust to changing global prices. The price of natural gas doubled last year, and this cannot be ignored. Israel will have to pay much more for natural gas in the future, because the price keeps going up," BG Group plc (NYSE: BRG; LSE: BG) Gaza Marine policy and corporate affairs manager Michael Barron told "Globes". He made the comment to explain why the company called off negotiations with the Israeli government for the sale of gas reserves. Last week, BG Group announced the closure of its office in Israel, after decided to call off the negotiations. The company added that it would continue to monitor developments in the Israeli market. Under the deal, 15% of BG Group's natural gas field offshore from Gaza was due to be marketed in Israel and to the power station in Gaza.
Barron said that Israel refused to promise the Palestinian Authority not to disrupt the gas supply to Gaza. "The Palestinian Authority wanted an Israeli commitment not to disrupt the gas supply to Gaza even before Hamas rose to power. The Israeli government would not agree, and then Hamas rose to power in Gaza, which complicated matters. The Palestinian Authority wanted an Israeli guarantee not to disrupt the gas supply.

actually israel is at the forefront of developing the practical electric car
In practically every single instance it has happened throughout history, "terrorists" quickly become diplomats and engaged in the democratic process if just given the opportunity. Usually, however, there is a reason why the occupying power does not want to invite the "terrorist" group into the political process. There are many examples: The ANC and Sinn Fein to cite a couple. While the obvious reason is the loss of power and control, one reason governments are reluctant to end an occupation and offer full rights or a state to occupied people is less appetizing and more barbaric. Often times, it is simply that a ruling people does not want to admit they did anything wrong. In the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the Israeli's cannot fathom that they are doing something wrong or that they are the oppressor. It just isn't in their vocabulary. To allow the Palestinians their own state or to grant them full citizenship in Israel would be to admit that current conditions are wrong. That is something they are not willing to do, thus it is easier to keep the conflict going so that there is always an excuse to point to as to why it continues, i.e., violence, defense, security. The same old song in South Africa and Northern Ireland.

If the U.S. begins negotiating with terrorists, no matter in what manner, clandestine or otherwise, what of the policy that this country does not deal with terrorism? This would be a slap in the face to all those who died innocently on September 11, 2001 and the member of the Navy Seal team who was beaten and shot and then having his body dumped on the tarmac at the Beirut Airport in Lebanon years ago. Should the Obama Administration begin any kind of negotiations with a terrorist organization that is bent on total destruction of Israel, the only democratic country in the Middle East, this is appalling. Can the Hamas or any terrorist organization be trusted? Emphatically, NO!
Seems like she was a big supporter of "TST" diplomacy.
