AMERICAblog: Obama answers questions from a group of reporters. Will McCain and Palin ever do that? Ever?

  • Slim Cognito · 1 year ago
    Nope.
  • Joneses · 1 year ago
Look how positive that was. That makes me feel good about this election.

Look how negative the repugs are. That makes me want to vomit.

    OT:

Palin attended 5 colleges in 6 years.

OMFG: she began her college "career" at a private school in Hawaii!!! Elitist! Exotic! Out of touch with normal Americans!
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
Too bad she didn't have enough commitment and maturity to stay and graduate from HPU in 4 years. The school's website touts its non-sectarian status and its role in a multicultural community. Think about how THAT Sarah Palin might have turned out...

Obama is very smart; smart enough not to fall into the trap that is being laid for him: an election between Obama and Palin. I am swooning with admiration as I type...
  • blackwolf · 1 year ago
I got a warm feeling....er ah....down there myself:) I like what I see. He's staying cool, and the reporters are asking him questions that allows him to keep talking about his agenda as president. It ain't about him and Palin--he framed it perfectly--it's about him and McCain.
  • scytherius · 1 year ago
ROFL! What an AWESOME strategy. We can already see the press is pretty pissed off, and getting more pissed by the day, at McCain and Co. This is utterly fantastic. The polls, the interviews with voters, etc all see this for what it is. A sham. And Palin not talking to the press will enforce that exponentially. What I'm wondering is, how does she give a speech at a debate?
  • FreakOfNurture · 1 year ago
I usually can't stand Air America's Stephanie Miller, but they cracked me up this afternoon by introducing Palin's new theme song:

"Everybody run, the homecoming queen's got a gun"

    Just ripe for the you-tubes...
  • Rab · 1 year ago
Publicity is good but if you don't talk to the media and take the questions you fade away. This will help Dems and cool off this lightweight. News cycles come and go and she is just another cycle that may die sooner than usual if they try putting a muzzle on her.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
    Press conference begins.

    McCain: "Get off my lawn!"

    Palin: "You sexist elitists!"

    Press conference ends.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
    Oh no they DID-UNT!

GOP now calling Obama "uppity." I knew calling him an elitist would lead to this!

    Let's see...McCain's the one with 7 houses..

It's McCain and Palin who won't lower themselves to talk to reporters.

It's Palin who trashed community organizers.

    Pretty uppity I'd say

This jerkwater racist deserved all the ridicule he got for appearing on Colbert's show. (He couldn't enumerate the 10 Commandments). Westmoreland's stupidity and crass opportunism and hypocrisy are on the internets forever.

The corporate press sniveling today is just sickening...
Haven't heard a thing about Cindy's $300K outfit or Peggy Noonan's open mic trauma...
Oh well, McCain and Palin the Squirrel and Moose of America's ongoing political cartoon.

Rachel Maddow just called the weekly standard guy on every one of his talking points. She'll be the only one now afraid of the McCain slime.

I wouldn't even watch his speech tonight, I'm watching football. Last night the ratings went up with people like us. I'll watch it when it's repeated or after the football game. I wouldn't give them the satisfaction of bringing up the ratings.
  • houstonray · 1 year ago
Wont' be watching either. It'll be repeated enough on the news cycles for the rest of the weekend.

I WILL however be online here watching you guys that are watching it livecommenting. I can't wait!

Also will be watching Daily Show, it will be the Palin speech episode. Come on Stewart, don't let us down!!
  • Heather · 1 year ago
I find this avoidance of media/press availability incredibly alarming and I want to know when Obama/Biden and the DNC are going to start bringing it up... A LOT. What are they hiding? Why isn't this a HUGE issue? HELLO?
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
    Nah.

Let McCrazy and the Mayor of Moosejaw hide from the media.

More free coverage for Obama and Biden.
  • houstonray · 1 year ago
I just have two words after watching that.

    NIGHT. DAY.
  • Sage24 · 1 year ago
Most probably she will give an interview first with, you guessed it, Faux News.
Obama and Biden are handling this very well. Despite the mockery, ridicule, and the cruel jokes, the audience, were too dumb, to realize that Palin had not assured them at all about what her dear boss and she were going to do, to straighten the mess made by Bush/Cheney. She may have delivered a good speech, written by someone else, but she did not have anything substantial to say about the economy, jobs, healthcare etc. The rethuglican voters have a lot of catching up to do, when gauging the caliber of their nominees.
I think they made a mistake attacking the media...all her skeletons are going to be pried out of her closet, and I am sure she has many.
  • tbhull · 1 year ago
    Excellent iniital repsonse.

Following the sports theme, Obama needs to point out that 72 year old McCain selected a youthful and athletic Palin to help the old man and the rest of the dust fartin' repubs run away from the smoldering shitpile of disaster left by 8 years of an adult down-syndrome Bush.

Hell, Obama ought to go ahaead and call McCain a coward for running or foce this old fart to embrace ther failure that whipped his ass eight years ago.

I swear the more you see and hear Obama the more he looks Presidental

What are Republican veterans doing SALUTING out of uniform? Don't they know the regs state they aren't to SALUTE unless they are UNIFORM? Are they trying to change the rules AGAIN to make us a hyper-military state where civilians have to salute?

Just saw Trace Adkins singing National Anthem and was shocked to see some of the Republicans in CIVILIAN CLOTHES saluting the flag like this is some kind of military police state! Jeesh... Do they EVER STOP trying to turn our country into Fascist Germany...

I'm a veteran, and its offensive for me to see people saluting like their in the military but OUT OF UNIFORM! It shows disregard for those who ARE in uniform. You are supposed to put your hand over your heart if OUT OF UNIFORM! Republicans just don't stop with their hyper fascism.

The press loved McCain when he was being a 'Maverick' voting against the GOP and cozying up to da Dems. Now that he is starting to put a hurt on the Obamassiah, and with a women VP (How dare he!) no less, he is the enemy of course. And the MSM wants nobody in the White House but the Messiah.

Btw, Palin's going to rip Biden a new one in the debate. I can't wait.

    .
    absurd thought -
    God of the Universe says
    never elect a woman

    who's a conservative
    she's just a gender traitor

    U(got an empty)Space(between your ears)

That's the dumbest comment I've read in some time. Obviously you haven't been paying attention. Obama is surging ahead and Palin is only causing people to scratch their heads and say WTF? She can't even write her own speeches. Biden will destroy her in a debate. I expect the VP debate to be cancelled soon because there is no way she will be ready for it.
  • USpace · 1 year ago
Wishful thinking. You think Obama writes his own speeches? Hoping for Obammunism and the Ruling Messiah Nobama is truly 'the audacity of hope'.

Give us an African-American, Jewish woman who at least is a moderate or a GOP for POTUS. Not a European Socialist with no experience. Shrillary is a 'European Style' Socialist too, but at least she has much more experience than Barack Fitzgerald Obama.

Palin will skewer Biden. Just wait.

Sitemonitor, can you please wait for me to finish and post my eviscerating retort before deleting an idiots comment?

  • nsr · 1 year ago
Reagan's #1 speechwriter says "it's over" because McCain chose Palin. I think I'm gonna go with that. Thx for commenting, though.
  • ikonoklast · 1 year ago
I think the better question would be if and how Obama and Biden can counter this tactical decision on McCan and Palin's part, and if not, how that's going to affect the race.

McCain can get away with not letting Palin ever answer any question spontaneously, because the media is the bitch of anybody who wants to push them around. It's not enough for us to point out how unfair the GOP is, because they'll get away with whatever they can get away with anyway. Obama and Biden had better figure out how Palin is vunerable and then take her down. Dems need to fight, not just be in the right. I hope Obama understands that.
  • momof5 · 1 year ago
I'll bet on that. Palin is going to kick ass. Don't under estimate her :)
