I'm thinking of his safety above all else. "Tough talk?" Is that all reporters think about? Obama was very circumspect in his response, I think. And he's right...no usurping of the crappy leadership we have in Bush, even though many will attempt to lay the blame on Obama when he's president for all the shit this country has endured the last 8 years.

Yes, the next four years are a vacation for the GOP while they blame EVERY fucking thing Bush did on Obama and destroy him.

Older And Wiser is proven right by history. These guys have been blaming Clinton for all of their failures. Why expect anything else? The leopard never changes its stripes.

Obama said he was "more interested in listening than doing a lot of talking."
OMFG is this a refreshing change.

Obama probably had to quickly change his flight plans and instead of landing in Iraq today chose instead to go to Afghanistan - thanks to McShank opening his treasonous mouth.
Good idea Obama, just listen on this trip. However, some advice: Deflect insane comments by reporters more stringently, e.g., the expected brain dead comments of Curic et al. Don't let the media whores drag you into their ditch.

McCain is hoping that Obama will be assasinated on this trip. That is why he told the terrorists of Obama's plans. This man cannot be the president of the United States. He is stupid and mean, and we've had enough of that.

SOP for the Republican party. Reagan pulled the October Surprise on Carter, making a deal with Iran to hold our embassy until after the elections. Then there was the Iran-Contra deal even selling drugs in LA to finance the war criminal operation. As for Bush crooked deals costing lives, that is all that Bush as done. Without their dirty, death dealing deals, the Republicans amount to zero.

The momentum and clarity of choice are such that even an October surprise won't fill the bill but will be viewed as a last ditch attempt to fool the American electorate. Surely an October surprise ought be expected from the absolutely desperate Republithugs. The unethical and illegal have long been the hallmark of this crowd. Why expect any change now on the way out?

foolme1ns is really onto something. How similar McSame is to Bush. Even their histories are similar from the academics to the failures. Leopards don't change their stripes and these two surely haven't. A clearer than clear choice presents itself this November. Each week McSame does something which is absolutely unbelievable!

Why now, all of a sudden, is Bush entertaining a "time horizon" for withdrawal from Iraq? Maybe because the Dems are about to have an "event horizon?"
And why isn't AmericaBlog commenting on this with a post, along with a comment on the future of Phil Gramm, who just might be indicted for banking fraud? Sure, he "stepped down" from the McBush campaign, but it wasn't over the "whiners" comment. Hopefully, they'll nail Wendy, too. Let the crooks fall as they will.

Obama should never have caved and let the Republicans criticize his lack of foreign travel experience. Bush had never traveled overseas, was afraid of foreign travel, afraid of that dirty, furiner food, that was all worms and bugs. Bush still couldn't find Washington DC on a map of Washington DC. As for McCain, it is becoming clearer and clearer every day that his mind is gone, he is senile and unqualified to hold any office, even dog catcher, let alone president of our nation. His mind is deteriorating daily before our eyes and by November or surely by January 20, he will be too far gone to even speak his name or remember that he wanted to be president. But then a total idiot for president is just short of what the Republicans gave us for the last ten years.

My hope is that every day more and more Americans will realize how clear a choice for president is before them. Every day there is more and more clear evidence of intelligence and good judgement vs ?????? Even Bush, McSame and PM Maliki are adopting Obama's long-held positions. What else is there to say?

Not to be 'CONUS-Centric,' but I don't understand why in the hell presidential candidates have to go overseas pre-election---once they're elected, fine, but beforehand, what's the purpose? Why should their campaign spend all the $, time and resources for overseas trips instead of using the resources here in the states? Does an overseas photo opp trek get them anymore votes?

My dearest right wing dolt, It was MCCAIN who voted AGAINST the Military funding bill that JUST passed last week!
You know, the REAL bill which actually DID something to HELP the soldiers.

For one thing, both Obama and Hillary voted against the irresponsible 2007 bill because they were not satisfied with it because it did not contain a TIMELINE for the withdrawal of troops from Iraq. You know the word "TIMELINE", Bush just interchanged that word with the word "HORIZON", as if they are different.
And now it seems that even BUSH wants a TIMELINE to withdraw the troops. Who knew?

It is AMAZING to note that Bush, McCain, and PM Maliki are all embracing the positions of Barack Obama in the most sincere way and that is by adopting their policy statements and actions to his long-supported positions. He has been correct for so long that they simply have to fall into line or look really absurd. So much for the " experience " factor. It is clear that intelligence and judgement trump flawed experience every time. It's how good not how long.

ndtovent is really out of the loop. Why call the trip a photo opp trek? Is there somthing wrong with getting more information to validate one's positions? Does ndtovent want to disparage what those in the field and abroad have to say? Rethink before you comment and perhaps reality will intrude.
